* (Update. This shrewd shark has recently been identified as a "nurse shark", with thanks and appreciation to the good folks at the Baltimore Aquarium. Sometimes, all you have to do is ask kindly and send a photo. Gmail gets the able assist.)

Which is to say that I photographed this handsome underwater specimen at the Baltimore Aquarium in the Inner Harbor area of downtown Baltimore, Maryland way back in 2011. What I once knew then I have now forgotten, the brain having deleted it in order to make new room for the latest information I need to remember.
So, the brain's memory serves me pretty well most of the time.
But I cannot recall what the informational sign told me as to what
species of fish I was admiring here. A shark is what I am guessing. But there are so many varieties, if a shark is what it is,
I have no idea. And I did check online sources and found out that the Chesapeake Bay does have sharks in its waters, multiple varieties in fact. Getting there, yes, but not hitting the bulls-eye.
An ichthyologist is an expert in the field of biology associated with the study of fish. Such a person can most certainly remind me what species of fish I have captured in this photographic image, because I cannot supply it here. I have sent a note to the
aquarium folks asking for their help. I would have to send them a photo first, I should think, because teleportation has not yet been invented. At least nobody told me. No response yet, but it is
Sunday. And Mother's Day. Everyone's probably out to dinner.
Aquariums are a marvelous place to visit, as many of you know.
But there are a few significant challenges there that are associated with making decent photographs within the facilities.
Generally low light levels predominate. In shooting through glass,
one will encounter finger smudges, scratches, and all manner of food stuffs and the like. And, lastly, shooting through water will affect your ability to focus correctly and to render suitably sharp
images. Physics I believe enters into it.
Some tips: Use high ISOs in these low light situations, increasing the sensitivity of your camera's sensor. Stopping down your apeture one f/stop or two will increase your depth of field, more likely to render your fishy subject in reasonably sharp focus. Try to get as close to the glass, and hence the fish, as you possibly can. And, lastly, bracket your exposures and take multiple images, checking to see the results frequently on your monitor. (And, if you're shooting on film, disregard the monitor part.)

standby generic version: Here is a large, rather scary looking fish.
Don't get in the tank with it. And nobody wants that.
Happy aquarium touring. Me, I like to find a nice coconut shrimp dinner afterwards, giving a tip of the wine glass to all sea creatures. Hey. These sea creatures all eat the lower levels of their own kind. I didn't start it.

Day 6 of Snow Week ~ I call this the purple fantasy version! The snow falling here is real as is the sun and the light bits of snow collecting on the limbs! No photo edit other than adding the purple tint! One more day and my snow 'gifts' will be complete ~ it has been fun and I hope you have smiled as much as I have!! You all are the best!!

Mt. Moran along this lake is great for shooting at sunrise or sunset.
It's only about a 20 minute hike, all flat, to this location then once there you have so many nice sites to the left or right from where this was taken.

Something there is that doesn't love a wall,

El Panteón de Agripa o Panteón de Roma (en italiano: Il Pantheon) es un templo de planta circular erigido en Roma por Adriano, entre los años 118 y 125 d. C. completamente construido sobre las ruinas del templo erigido en el 27 a. C. por Agripa, destruido por un incendio en el año 80,1 dedicado a todos los dioses (la palabra panteón, de origen griego significa «templo de todos los dioses»). En la ciudad, es conocido popularmente como La Rotonda (la Rotonna), de ahí el nombre de la plaza en que se encuentra.

Esta es la inscripción que puede leerse en el friso del pórtico de entrada. Atribuye la construcción del edificio a Marco Vipsanio Agripa, amigo, general y yerno del emperador Augusto. El tercer consulado de Agripa nos indica el año 27 a. C. Además, Dión Casio lo encuadra3 entre las obras realizadas por Agripa en la zona de Roma conocida como el campo de Marte en 25 a. C.
Durante siglos se pensó que esta inscripción hacía referencia al edificio actual. Sin embargo, tras las investigaciones4 efectuadas por Chedanne en el siglo XIX se supo que en realidad, el templo de Agripa fue destruido, y que el existente actualmente es una construcción realizada en tiempos de Adriano.
Los restos descubiertos a finales del siglo XIX permiten saber que el templo original guardaba pocas semejanzas con el actual. Lo que hoy es un pórtico de entrada fue originalmente la fachada de un templo períptero. La primitiva entrada se efectuaba por el lado opuesto, hacia el sur, ya que en la rotonda actual había una plaza circular porticada. Al otro lado de esa plaza se encontraba la basílica de Neptuno.
El primer templo era rectangular, con la cella dispuesta transversalmente, al igual que en el templo de la Concordia del Foro romano, o en el pequeño templo de Veiove en la colina del Campidoglio. Estaba construido con bloques de travertino y revestido en mármol. También se sabe que los capiteles eran de bronce y que la decoración incluía cariátides y estatuas frontales. En el interior del pronaos había sendas estatuas de Augusto y Agripa.
Por Dión Casio sabemos que la denominación de Panteón no era la oficial del edificio, y que la intención de Agripa era la de crear un culto dinástico, probablemente dedicado a los protectores de la gens Julia: Marte, Venus y el Divus Iulius, es decir, Julio César divinizado.
El edificio sufrió daños por un incendio en el año 80, de los que fue reparado por Domiciano, aunque sufrió una nueva destrucción en tiempos de Trajano, en el año 110.
En tiempos de Adriano el edificio fue enteramente construido. Su nombre no aparece en las inscripciones debido al rechazo de este emperador a que su nombre figurase en las obras llevadas a cabo bajo su mandato, muy al contrario que su predecesor Trajano. Las marcas de fábrica encontradas en los ladrillos corresponden a los años 123–125, lo que permite suponer que el templo fue inaugurado por el emperador durante su estancia en la capital entre 125 y 128. Aunque no se sabe con certeza quién fue el arquitecto, el proyecto se suele atribuir a Apolodoro de Damasco.
Se cambió la orientación respecto del panteón precedente, ya que se colocó la fachada principal hacia el norte. El edificio quedó compuesto por una columnata a modo de pronaos, una amplia cella redonda y una estructura prismática intermedia. El gran pronaos y la estructura de unión con la cella ocuparon por completo el espacio del templo anterior, mientras que la rotonda fue construida sobre el espacio de la plaza augustea que separaba el panteón de la basílica de Neptuno. Delante del templo se edificó una plaza porticada en tres de sus lados y pavimentada con lajas de travertino.
La construcción de una amplia sala redonda con un pórtico rectangular, conformado como un templo clásico, es una innovación en la arquitectura romana. El modelo de espacio circular cubierto por una bóveda se había utilizado por la misma época en las grandes salas termales, pero era una novedad usarlo en un templo. El efecto de sorpresa al cruzar el umbral de la puerta debía de ser notable.
La construcción de una cúpula semiesférica sobre un tambor circular era típico de la arquitectura de la época. Se observa en la Villa Adriana en Tívoli, en las termas de Agripa, y en general en las salas de los primeros tiempos del imperio. Las pechinas no se generalizarían hasta una época más tardía, en tiempos de Diocleciano.
El espacio interno de la rotonda está constituido por un cilindro cubierto por una semiesfera. El cilindro tiene una altura igual al radio, y la altura total es igual al diámetro, por lo que se puede inscribir una esfera completa en el espacio interior. El diámetro de la cúpula es de 43,44 m (150 pies), lo que la convierte en la mayor cúpula de hormigón en masa de la historia. La cúpula de la Basílica de San Pedro fue construida un poco más pequeña.

The Pantheon (/ˈpænθiən/ or US: /ˈpænθiɒn/;[1] Latin: Pantheum,[nb 1] from Greek Πάνθειον Pantheion, "[temple] of all the gods") is a former Roman temple, now a church, in Rome, Italy, on the site of an earlier temple commissioned by Marcus Agrippa during the reign of Augustus (27 BC – 14 AD). The present building was completed by the emperor Hadrian and probably dedicated about 126 AD. He retained Agrippa's original inscription, which has caused confusion over its date of construction as the original Pantheon burned down, so it is not certain when the present one was built.[2]
The building is circular with a portico of large granite Corinthian columns (eight in the first rank and two groups of four behind) under a pediment. A rectangular vestibule links the porch to the rotunda, which is under a coffered concrete dome, with a central opening (oculus) to the sky. Almost two thousand years after it was built, the Pantheon's dome is still the world's largest unreinforced concrete dome.[3] The height to the oculus and the diameter of the interior circle are the same, 142 feet (43 m).[4]
It is one of the best-preserved of all Ancient Roman buildings, in large part because it has been in continuous use throughout its history, and since the 7th century, the Pantheon has been used as a church dedicated to "St. Mary and the Martyrs" (Latin: Sancta Maria ad Martyres) but informally known as "Santa Maria Rotonda".[5] The square in front of the Pantheon is called Piazza della Rotonda. The Pantheon is a state property, managed by Italy's Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism through the Polo Museale del Lazio; in 2013 it was visited by over 6 million people.
The Pantheon's large circular domed cella, with a conventional temple portico front, was unique in Roman architecture. Nevertheless, it became a standard exemplar when classical styles were revived, and has been copied many times by later architects.

Downtown Tucson - building was a bit less "neon" - but I liked the look of the pushed contrast better than the actual shot.
