"King George" steams past the distant signal on the demonstration line at Didcot Railway Centre.
Locomotive: Hunslet 0-6-0T 2409 "King George".
Location: The Great Western Society's Didcot Railway Centre, Oxfordshire.
Went to Semaphore for lunch this after noon which is next to this church~
Hope all of you guys had a great weekend my dear friends!
Settle Junction still has a fine array of semaphores controlling the junction where the S&C converges with the 'Little' North Western route.
Settle Junction railway station was one of the shorter lived efforts on the railway opening in October 1876 and closing to passengers just over a year later on the 1st November 1877.

150012 rolls into Shirley station in April 1999 with a Stourbridge Junction bound service. Semaphore signalling remained active on the North Warwickshire line until 2011.
Former LNER class J27 carrying BR no. 65894 takes water at Grosmont on 16th June 2022 prior to working the 12.30 departure 'The Moorlander' Pullman dining train to Pickering. The loco was built for the North Eastern Railway at Darlington North Road Works and entered traffic as class P3 no. 2392. In September 2023 she will celebrate her centenary.

I chose the 791 semaphore for my final shot of Amtrak with semaphores on this trip. I couldn't pick just one between these two so you get both.
A signalling relic in what is left of Workington's freight yard oversees the departure of Tuesday's 2C42.
Working hard as it pulls away from its short stop next to Plumley West box, GB Railfreight owned class 60 no. 60076, 'Dunbar' works 6E10 Liverpool Bulk Terminal to Drax biomass train on Sunday 11th April 2021.
I really like this location, just a shame that the sun wasn't on the nose.
Special thanks to Tim Moran for the tour.
The daylight of night fades off below Starvation Peak in as the night wears on in Chapelle, NM.

An NYC semaphore serving as a distant signal sits ahead of the IC-NS interlocking in Urbana. This is one of the only semaphore signals left in Illinois, albeit in a fixed position. Despite being a fixed approach signal, it appears to be mostly intact and is only missing it's green and red lenses. Seeing only a couple trains a week, its hard to nab anything going past it but the stars aligned, heads ups were given, and the old NW workhorse was captured making a daylight appearance which is an impressive feat for D41 in and of itself.
I believe the steam age semaphore signals on the Hope Valley line in Derbyshire are due to be upgraded soon, this prompted a visit to capture them while they are still standing.

6233 Duchess of Sutherland heading Vintage Trains "Lickey Banker" approaches the junction at Droitwich Spa passing a Birmingham bound train on 20 November 2021.
66187 powers up the hardly used Ogmore Vale extension line en route to Tondu Junction on the 6O32 Margam to Llanwern sidings, seen amongst the surviving semaphore signals at Tondu. The train will run round the Garw loop and then head south on the Maesteg line to Bridgend to join the main South Wales line. Why the need for three semaphore signals along this short stretch of line I don't know, not that I am complaining!

Semaphore. Semaphore is a suburb in the Australian state of South Australia located in north-west of Adelaide on the Gulf St Vincent coastline of the LeFevre Peninsula about 14 kilometres (8.7 mi) from the Adelaide city centre.
This photo was taken this afternoon at the Adelaide Semaphore Beach, one of the most popular beach in Adelaide~~ But is a bit cold today, therefore not many people around~
The St Ives branch train has just departed from St Erth as Castle HST power car 43097 (43187 on the rear out of sight) leads the late running 1547 Plymouth to Penzance in to the station. St Erth still sports a fine array of lower quadrant semaphore signals.
No excuses for uploading this shot from this classic location.
Its been on my list of places to visit for a long time.
The shot is at Gilberdyke looking east.
The semaphores have only a few weeks left.
This shot is not taken from the end of the platform, this one resulted in Richard and myself hiking for what seemed like for ever along side a drainage ditch and through some woods to get to a foot crossing in the middle of nowhere that went to nowhere and came from nowhere.
20303 and 305 are engaged on RHTT duties as they pass through the dappled sunlight.
37275 & 37088 head through Brocklesby, when it still had semaphores with a Santon-Immingham empty iron ore working, 5.9.88.
After snapping a blue hour shot of the Levy semaphores, the thought occurred to me to check to see where Amtrak was. If it was on time, I should have seen it near Raton, but I had not. I assumed it had passed by while out of sight of the freeway, but a check of the Amtrak site showed it was running late...in fact, it was less than 10 minutes away!
In a panic I quickly setup at the intermediates between Levy and Wagon Mound, and with little time to even get off a test shot, I went with an obvious composition.
During my test shot, the semaphore lit, and seconds later, here comes Amtrak barreling towards me, snow blowing like crazy, a truly dramatic sight! Click went the shutter, and the train was here and gone in seconds. Here is the result. The shot certainly captures the speed and blowing snow, but I'll always wonder if I'd had more time if I'd been able to pull off a far more dramatic shot.

Or SEMAFLORES? LOL
The name Iris is Greek and it means rainbow for its many colours. However, most irises are shades of blue or purple.
Lately I have seen them white, yellow and mix of yellow and white.
The majority of irises that we see today are hybrids of the originals.
The iris has been around for many centuries, and many artists have chosen to paint them.
There are several famous paintings of the flowers. From 1888 to 1890, Van Gogh painted at least four paintings of irises.
Monet painted "Iris" sometime between 1914 and 1917.
Not only is the iris a beautiful flower, but also they have several uses.
As a live plant they are used as a water purifier.
They are ingredients in some perfumes, homemade toothpaste, pottery and herbal medicines.
The stylised iris, fleur-de-lis, descends from the white iris which is native to Florence, Italy and which grew even in its city walls.
This white iris, displayed against a red background, became the symbol of Florence until the Medici family, to signal a change in political power, reversed the colours making the white one red and setting in motion a centuries-long breeding program to hybridise a red iris.
Catherine de Medici carried this symbol of Florence to Paris when she married the king of France where this most famous of irises acquired its nickname, fleur-de-lis.
The iris has been associated with France as Louis VII adopted it as a symbol in the 12th Century.
In Flowers'-language: Iris means faith; hope; wisdom and valour
I wish you a good day and thank you for your visit, so very much appreciated, Magda, (*_*)
