The Xhosa are very selfless. They take a chip and hand it down the line before they take one for themself. I gave them an apple and everyone took one bite and passed it around. Sweethearts.

"Seva" is a Sanskrit word meaning "selfless service" or work performed without any thought of reward or repayment. People all throughout India and the world travel to the Golden Temple to do Seva, as a means of upkeeping Langar or the community kitchen. The kitchen serves over 50,000 people in one day of different backgrounds and social status. I learned that western culture often makes community service about those who volunteer instead of the process and impact itself. This was a humbling experience for me as I realized that this sustainable system is a representation of what community work should look like.

The Mahavatar Babaji celebration started with evening prayers, which was then followed by abhishekam and Guruji's satsang.

Mahavatar Babaji day commemorates the selfless service this mystical yogi gives to all mankind, and his promise to continue this service on the planet until all are awakened. He gives continually to all of humanity, however, Guruji reminded us all during His satsang that we should do our part and strive to awaken from the deep sleep state we have carried with us for countless lives. (The saints are never in a state of sleeping, regardless of how they might look on the outside.)

Guruji continued by saying that when the satguru comes into one's life, he breaks the conditioning of the mind where we think the outside relationships are real. The outside is just a formality. What matters is the true, sincere, burning of the heart for God, just like Mirabai had, for example.

The role of the satguru is to unlock the way of love. He reveals himself through that Prem and infuses one with that grace and gives himself to the bhakta. It is only through Prem, that ultimate love, that one can enter the domain of Sri Hari. Guruji reminded us to live our lives as if God is present every day with us (because He is)!

Over the last few months many people have shown me what selflessness and gratitude truly look like. The hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make happened over the last few months. Beautiful people were there to offer their support.

Man may travel far and wide or establishes a second home beyond the borders of his native land; Yet at the twilight years of life, he will travel back on the long road to the old Home where he spent the first 7 years of his childhood from the time he was born. - wilfredosrb

Everyman in his second childhood forgets all material things. His wife, children and grandchildren are mere friends and playmates. He remembers only the years as a child below 7 yrs of age and going home to the place where he was born.

Robert Frost, an American poet, wrote "Where Are The Old Men?", re-living in poetic lines the men who left England on the MayFlower. The men with their family who worked in American plantations until their old age. No one saw them leave, died and buried in American soil . . . -wilfredosrb

無私であると言う事 Being selfless

古代インド、 Ancient India

Who consider all living beings like themselves without prejudice, and treat them all like friends, are real pious people. Yajurveda

私的試訳:全生物を見境なく自分同様に考え、友人の様に接する人が、本当に敬虔な人だ。

ヤジュル・ヴェーダより

日本、Japan ・ 中国古典の日本語読み Japanese way of readings of Chinese classical work

天に私覆なく、地に私載なく、日月に私照なし。Ten ni sifu (sifuku) naku, chi ni sizai naku, nichigetsu ni sishou nasi

「礼記」 儒教の基本的経典 Lǐjì; The Book of Rites, One of the basic Confucian scriptures

現代日本語への試訳 (Trial translation into modern Japanese):天は誰にも特別な考えを抱かず、全ての人々を覆い、地は誰にも特別な考えを抱かず、全ての人々を運び、太陽と月は誰にも特別な思いを抱かず、全ての人々を照らす。

The trial translation into English: The heaven covers all the people, holding no special thoughts ; the earth carries all the people, holding no special thoughts; the sun and the moon shine on all the people, holding no special thoughts

ヴェーダとの共通性は、人のために自分を無にする事が出来る、と言う生き方である、と思われます。

The similarity with the Vedas seems to be a way of life in which one is able to sacrifice oneself for the sake of others

ダライ・ラマの言葉の英訳 English translation of Dalai Lama's words

Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them~Dalai Lama

私的試訳(private trial translation) この世における我々の人生の最高の目的は、他人を助ける事だ。もし他人を助ける事が出来ないのであるのなら、少なくとも他人を傷付けない事だ。 - ダライ・ラマ

私的解釈;見返りを求めず人を助けられる人は、無私なのであり、己の利己的な存在欲故で他人を害してはならない、と言う共通するニュアンスがあるのでは無いだろうか。

Private interpretation of connotation; there is a commonly shared nuance between Veda's phrase and Dalai Lama's word in the sense that those who can help others without asking for any rewards in return are selfless persons and should not harm others out of their own selfish desire to exist

モラヴィア生まれのドイツ語作家German-language writer born in Moravia

Trial German-English translation:Spirit of good-neighbourliness lives with a thousand souls, selfishness with only one and it is pitiful

Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach, a Moravian-Austrian writer born in Moravia. 1830 - 1916

私的解釈:キリスト教の隣人愛と、ヴェーダの自分と周りを区別しない生き方には共通するものがある、と思われます。

Personal interpretation of connotation: it seems that there are similarities between Christian love of living together with neighbours and the Vedic way of life on non-discrimination, which makes no distinction between oneself and one's surroundings

フランス語の場合In case of French

Ne faites pas à autrui ce que vous ne voudriez pas qu'on vous fasse

私的試訳:自分がされて嫌な事は、他人にもしない。

Trial translation into English; Do not do to the others what you would not want done by others to you

私的解釈;人が善意で自然に行う行為は無私なのであり、ヴェーダでも、このフランス語の諺でも、似ているのでは無いでしょうか。

Trial interpretation of connotation; the acts that people do benevolently and spontaneously are of the selfless nature and are similar in the nuance in the above Veda phrase and in this French proverb, or not?
