DAY 027/365: "Self-reflection"

“To shelf perfection, just ‘cause someone else inspectin’,

Differs from what swells rejection, to reflect their self on your self-reflection?”

What do you see when you look at yourself in the mirror? Does your self-reflection trigger a stream of negativity or does it ignite a river of positivity? Or perhaps a mix of both? Whatever your case may be, just remember… Your self-thoughts should not be influenced by the thoughts of others. Someone else has no right or authority to calculate your worth & value unless you freely give them permission. You know what Eleanor Roosevelt use to say back in the day… Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent.

Self-Reflection

"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately ..." Henry David Thoreau was a major American philosopher and lived this wish. Thoreau meant to cultivate his mind and communicate directly with nature by living in a cabin near Walden pond. He is our country's early environmentalist. We may not choose a cabin, but we might take a cue from his lifestyle by ridding ourselves of unnecessary belongings and mental baggage. Asian philosophy also speaks of improving our health by encouraging simplicity as well as fostering meditation, perhaps by a small pool or rock garden. You might revise your own environment by adopting some of these ideas.

Will you examine your reflections?

Too bad I wasn't on the side of the table with the pretty background. But I got to look at it while we were eating, so there!

I was originally trying to take landscape shots refocused through the marbles, but those didn't turn out quite how I liked and in the process of taking those I discovered that the marbles reflected light rather nicely when they had something behind them to block the light from going straight though. As a result, this photo was a sort of spur-of-the-moment idea and I like the final result. I did some levels editing and Mr. Mulloy helped me use Photoshop to make the bright areas on my fingers a little less distracting.

Late afternoon sunlight reflecting on Mont juic castle in Barcelona makes a beautiful view. As the sun fades away the magic fountain comes into action...

I can't believe I wore those camo pjs.

Do others see you as you see yourself? Do you see yourself as others do?

Me and my camera, reflected in the shiny glass windows of the place where I work.

FGR is about self-reflection. so that's me reflected in my daughter's sunglasses.

Self-portrait in mirrored building wall in Kyoto. Water reflection at the bottom from a pool of water between where I was standing and the wall.

While dunnhumbyUSA's current office used to be home to a manufacturer of overalls for slaughterhouses, the new office at Central & Third is in a building from the 1920's that was used by the United States Postal Service and the Hennegan Printing Company.

The building sat empty and unused for nearly 10 years before being selected by dunnhumby as its new headquarters in downtown Cincinnti.

Have you ever looked closely at a lake? It reflects everything that looks into it, ever moving, yet retaining its innate character. The colors of the sky at sunset caught my attention. Lost in that reflection, I looked closer and began to see myself; fluid and dynamic, but still very much me.

Through this composition I have tried to depict my journey of discovering my passion for art.

Project 3 - Self Reflection

I think that that I did a decent job at the Tryptech, i feel as though I couldn't really think of a great idea for it to make it really unique, but overall I'm satisfied with it and I feel as though I have a better eye and view of photography now, and this definitely adds an interesting perspective. I wish that I thought of something totally outside the box so that I would've been very content seeing as this is the final project for the course, but nonetheless I enjoyed it very much and I definitely understand photography in a new light.
