land and sky stretch until they seem to meet. This is a country scene near Mangoplah, New South Wales (thanks Ian). I dipped into the archives for this, which I thought would look good in B&W. The deep blue sky benefitted from yellow filtration (red was too extreme) followed by selenium toning in SilverEfex.
The installation of selenium ring, the front element, and the center ring should finish off your work. Adjust the front element so it's back to 12 o' clock position, and put the center ring back. At this point, I'm just too happy to take pictures. You get the idea. Enjoy!
Remember the film evolution. They used Head & Shoulders to poison the aliens. Head & Shoulders Intensive Treatment Shampoo consist of approximately 1% of selenium sulfide. The element found is selenium.

I applied a selenium brown tone sample to the desaturated Qtpfstui. I'll be playing with these tone sampling tools to see what I like and how it impacts the final images. Though looking at this image, I'm thinking I need to retain color somewhere/somehow. This is a little too complex to my eye.
Stay tuned, I'll have a wide variety of expressions to share over the next several days.
Another Cornish beach photo. This time rocks at Porth Ledden, which sits at the mouth of a valley filled with remnants of mining activities. I was drawn to this water-smoothed rock with its veins of quartz sat amid the grey and pink speckled granite around it. Some late afternoon sun obligingly provided the light that I think helps to make this image.
Traditional wet darkroom print on Adox Fineprint Vario Classic FB paper, developed in Moersch SE2 warmtone developer and finished in selenium for 5 minutes at 1+15. This paper is interesting to work with as its emulsion has a very high silver content. Developing takes at least a minute longer than most fibre-based papers and it eats chemistry as well. On the plus side it has no accelerators or optical brighteners so looks much more 'natural' alongside some of its modern competitors.

A nifty little Yashica EZ-matic that takes 126 cartridges. I just need to get a few and then I can reload them with 35mm film.

Photography use:
Selenium is used in the toning of photographic prints, and it is sold as a toner by numerous photographic manufacturers including Kodak and Fotospeed. Its use intensifies and extends the tonal range of black and white photographic images as well as improving the permanence of prints.
Early photographic light meters used selenium but this application is now obsolete.

I couldn't resist a B&W version, having first posted the colour. Silver Efex has 3 pre-set Selenium tone options (although in truth an unlimited number can actually be generated) and this is the weakest. I like the subtlety of this option, which is very close to what I used to generate with the real chemicals on Ilford Galerie fibre paper. Extra depth without the too-purple look of leaving the paper in the chemicals a tad too long. And I didn't have to burn a few layers of skin off my hands this time around! Best on black.

Selenium cell meter recently acquired. Looks unused with box. Accurate. NO BATTERIES :))
I just noticed the slightly newer technology in the background.
Update: Checked against some other meters against Kodak gray card and this is right on. So, I would have to say, for 99 cents plus shipping, a real bargain.
