#132/365 Well today is this little guys 3rd birthday...It just seemed like yesterday he was a blob with a huge head. Now look at him he is a little skinny guy with a big head. Seriously look at the size of that thing! Of course I'm kidding. Happy Birthday little guy!

Now on a sad note..for the second time in 6 months my hard drive bit the dust. I HATE reinstalling everything. I am so bummed..not to mention all the stuff I have lost. My original shot I was working on is gone. So this image was one of the quickest pp jobs ever which I had to do on my laptop. Hopefully tomorrow when I see this on a real monitor it won't look too bad. Good thing this was taken with a d40 because that camera only takes magic!

Roy's Peak, Lake Wanaka, New Zealand

Walking on the edge

Roy's Peak, 5 mile in distance and 3600 feet in height. This was our last and hardest hiking destination of our New Zealand trip. According to hiking guide published on location web site, Roy's Peak Track is a easy walking track and it only needs about 3 hours to get up to the top. However, considering we were loaded with 40 lb backpack bag, Dr. Zhang said he gave us 5 hours to finish it. The track looks quite easy. It is wide and solid. it zigzags steeply up the side of Mount Roy and all the way uphill to the summit. I normally don't mind to walk for a long time, but if I keep walking uphill, I will get tired quickly. So, in order to save energy, our strategy was to walk slowly, but steady. We took a small break in a half hour and a long break in one hour. We also took a half hour break to eat our lunch. At last few hundreds feet to the summit, the road gets narrow and we were walking on the ridge of the mountain. Dr. Zhang said this was called walking on the edge.

When we got to the top we were very tired. But, when we saw beautiful view of Lake Wanaka under our feet and far away was the peak of Mt. Aspiring/Tititea, we were very excited. We walked around and tried to find the best spot to shoot. Then, we made three wishes. I guess the mother nature was moved by our persistent hard work, that day all our wishes became true. We had a beautiful light for sunset, clear sky for milky way, and red lights again for sunrise.

This picture was taken in the morning with Dr. Zhang and the other photographer.

Supposedly the prairies have some of the nicest sunsets in the world. From what I have seen , I would have a tough time arguing with them. And The silhouette in the photo would probably agree as well.

Hide and Seek

This wonderful Icelandic waterfall is huge, and you can,if you so wish walk behind the waterfall! Not really recommended with camera in hand though as the spray can be horrendous :-)

Another wonderful place we visited

Thanks for taking your time to view and a small comment is always welcome. CHEERS :-)

what does this mean

to see walking men

wrapped in the color of death,

to hear from their tongue

such difficult syllables?

are they the spirits

of our hope

or the pale ghosts of our future?

who will believe the red road

will not run on forever?

who will believe

a tribe of ice might live

and we may not?

Jasper is hoping Autumn arrives soon. And not just on the calendar. It was 105°F (~41°C) on our evening walk yesterday, which has been typical. You can tell by Jasper's posture here that he's just sick of it. But Monday promises a high of just 84F (29C) so that should be a lot better

The London Design Biennale and the Malta Pavilion provided a great little setting for not only a game of Hide & Seek, but also a multitude of opportunities for street photography :)

My snowshoes finally got to enjoy some snow. On a good day, there are some fantastic views from here. On this day the skies remained heavily overcast, there were times of snow and lots of windy moments. It wasn’t the best weather, but it always feels great to be outside.

Thor's Hammer at sunrise in Bryce Canyon National Park. It is always difficult to know what to do with the sun when there are no clouds in the sky. In this case, Thor's Hammer came to the rescue!

My niece wanted this figure to join the lovely cans pic. His name is "Obocchaman" from Japanese Manga "Dr.Slump"...so cute!

Cherchant la lumière

It's actually fairly mild here today but it's been gloomy with the cloud cover and rain.

I was hoping the sun would shine through at some point but as of dinner time that just doesn't seem to be in the cards for today.

That's okay, I'll make my own spring imagery and hopefully the sun will shine tomorrow.

Hope everyone has had a good day.

It was a cloudy day at Lake Louise but there were occasional glimpses of warm morning light in the distance over the frozen lake.

This is a forest near Ebersberg in Upper Bavaria, Germany. I love this place with the mossy carpet and the birdhouses. It was a bit misty on that day, the late afternoon light and sun rays created an enchanting atmosphere. I called it ‘Hide & Seek’ because of the small trees hiding behind the bigger ones.

Quidditch isn't exactly the safest sport if you ask some people. But it's definitely fun. With a bludger approaching, Sila wastes no time in reaching out to wrap their hands around the shimmering golden ball as it tries to fly away. It's a game they can't quit, no matter how many times they have wanted to and even tried to. Sometimes you're just destined to be good at something.
