Jasper is hoping Autumn arrives soon. And not just on the calendar. It was 105°F (~41°C) on our evening walk yesterday, which has been typical. You can tell by Jasper's posture here that he's just sick of it. But Monday promises a high of just 84F (29C) so that should be a lot better
when you witness such coolness, sharing is your duty.

I was returning home from an evening out at the back-water areas near my sister's house when the sky in an exceptional way darkened. Rain seemed imminent, though the monsoon had stopped a few days ago. . It was so sudden that I had to run to escape from getting wet to the skin. It is a bit difficult to run on a two feet wide earthen bund for about a kilometer to reach the nearest shelter. Visibility was about twenty feet but was getting reduced at the speed of an approaching steam engine! One wrong step and I could belly flop in to a four feet deep paste of black mud on the right side or if I am lucky, in to a ten feet deep murky waters of a fifty feet wide canal on the left. Come rain and I would be skating like hell (or should I say 'in Hell' to escape torture, I mean.)
Then abruptly the clouds parted and the crescent Sun (is it correct to use that term with the Sun?)
looked through with those beams of golden light. My first impression was that the Sun was searching for something or someone! The beams were moving north-south and south-north rapidly. Then they stopped all at once.
And then I took this image - five rapid shots. The celestial show was fading away as I ran and gathered speed and was a few feet from a shelter when suddenly the rain started a heavy downpour.
About an hour afterwards I walked back in pitch darkness, balancing like a rope-walker without seeing anything below my knees! While waiting for the rain to stop, I was thinking of the display I was witness to. I felt for sure that the Sun was searching for something or was it for someone like me!
As photographers we all are used to seeking light. But 'light seeking someone' was all too new to me.The thought was pleasurable and it made me more in love with Nature.
Allow me to paraphrase Churchill and say: never have I received so much for so little!!

It is quite ironic that my Solitude, the flickering loneliness within, seeks and finds lasting camaraderie amongst fleeting elements of the mute canvas outside.
Flying in a doors off Heli, hoping your seatbelt does not come undone when the pilot decides to try a steep bank turn, scouting the canyon below your feet for wildflowers, having the heli land by this mountain stream, bushwhacking your way towards this comp, shooting with the realization you have 15 min to make it back into the heli, wading through the river hoping you don't lose footing, making it back to the heli intact and realizing that was an epic adventure you will remember forever... that is the real deal. Having this shot to remember the experience is just icing on the cake.
Seeking shelter.
It is anchored in the quiet sanctuary that is offered by the marina.
With a heavy cloud formation is slowly gathering overhead it is not likely that the small vessel will be leaving its sanctuary for the sea anytime soon.

#132/365 Well today is this little guys 3rd birthday...It just seemed like yesterday he was a blob with a huge head. Now look at him he is a little skinny guy with a big head. Seriously look at the size of that thing! Of course I'm kidding. Happy Birthday little guy!
Now on a sad note..for the second time in 6 months my hard drive bit the dust. I HATE reinstalling everything. I am so bummed..not to mention all the stuff I have lost. My original shot I was working on is gone. So this image was one of the quickest pp jobs ever which I had to do on my laptop. Hopefully tomorrow when I see this on a real monitor it won't look too bad. Good thing this was taken with a d40 because that camera only takes magic!
Supposedly the prairies have some of the nicest sunsets in the world. From what I have seen , I would have a tough time arguing with them. And The silhouette in the photo would probably agree as well.
