Having some fun with SCULPY CLAY. This is Funky, the alien grape warrior leader in my online comic Seedless (http://www.seedlesscomic.com). I used to make clay figures of my fruit characters all the time when I was a kid... Hoping to get good at it. This is a prototype!

Triple layer Vanilla sponge, sandwiched with lashings of Vanilla buttercream and seedless raspberry jam. Made as a surprise for my nextdoor neighbour's 50th, based on his favourite golf course. When I agreed to do a cake with a lighthouse on, I was thinking more of a tall thin singular, easy to make lighthouse!!!

Two or Three times a year my Malay apple tree comes out in flower and the stamens drop over the driveway. It is an amazing tree and when in flower, attracts birds. The flowers are quite large. Unfortunately the fruit on mine is poor and rather useless because it is a seedling but the grafted ones are fantastic. Fruit is easily spoiled by insects and birds but is delicious with the aroma of roses and red skin and white, crunchy fruit. I have a lot of information on the tree but underneath is a small section from the internet. On another occasion I will show the flowers. Photo from over 2 years ago.

Common name: Malay apple, mountain apple, otaheite apple, pomerac, pomme malac.

Family: Myrtaceae (Myrtle family).

Overview: The Malay apple is a medium sized tree, growing up to 60' tall. Although not indigenous to Suriname, pomerac as it is called in this country, is growing abundantly. The evergreen leaves are opposite, soft leathery and dark green: the flowers are purplish - red and form a carpet after falling under the tree.

The fruit is oblong - to pear shaped with a dark red skin and white flesh; sometimes it is seedless.

Medicinal applications

A decoction of the bark is used against vaginal infection, while the root is used to treat itching.

The root is also effective against dysentery and as a diuretic.

In Brazil, the plant is also used as a remedy for diabetes and constipation.

The malay apple is a typical tropical plant and can only be grown in the most southern part of Florida.

Hardiness: USDA zone 10 - 11.

Propagation: Seeds but grafted is best.

Due to recalcitrant nature of the seeds, they have a short viable life, can not be dried well and can not withstand low temperatures.

Recalcitrant seeds are not refundable since they are prone to fungus and often difficult to germinate.

Culture: The mountain apple is grown for its fruit that yields more than 220 lbs. per tree.

Citrus × latifolia, with common names seedless lime,[2] Bearss lime,[3] Persian lime,[3] and Tahiti lime,[3] is a citrus fruit species of hybrid origin, known only in cultivation.[2]

The Persian lime is most likely from a cross between key lime (Citrus aurantiifolia) and lemon (Citrus × limon).[2]

Although there are other citrus species that are referred to as limes, C. × latifolia is the most widely cultivated lime species for commercial use,[4] and accounts for the largest share of the fruits sold as limes.

The tree is nearly thornless. The fruit is about 6 centimetres (2.4 in) in diameter, often with slightly nippled ends, and is usually sold while green, although it yellows as it reaches full ripeness. It is also widely available dried, as it is often used this way in Persian cuisine. It is larger, thicker-skinned, with less intense citrus aromatics than the key lime (Citrus aurantifolia). The advantages of the Persian lime in commercial agriculture compared to the key lime are the larger size, absence of seeds, hardiness, absence of thorns on the bushes, and longer fruit shelf life. They are less acidic than key limes and do not have the bitterness that lends to the key lime's unique flavor.

I had to have this one for lunch. The whole thing.

Base is hearts of romaine with a big scoop of cottage cheese mixed with over-softened sun-dried tomatoes. Then a layer of hemp seed granola and raw walnuts. On top of that, avocado, kiwi, red seedless grapes, and sumo mandarin sections.

Maria é variedade de uva de mesa sem sementes lançada pelo IAC - Instituto Agronômico de Campinas. 1 pound of green seedless grapes, pulled from the stems and rinsed

1 3-oz. package of Melon Fusion Jell-O (NOT prepared)

Water

Directions

Rinse the grapes under water until all are clean and wet.

Spread the gelatin mix on a plate, about 1/3 at a time. Place a handful of grapes on the plate and gently roll each grape in the gelatin powder until it is covered. Place the coated grapes into a bowl and repeat the process with the remaining ingredients until all of the grapes are covered.

Place the bowl and let set in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, until the gelatin is set. The colder these are, the better they taste!

I participated in the current Lawnfawnatics challenge--scene cards are my favorite. :) I started out with the background--I inked Wild Honey, Seedless Preserves, and Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxide inks onto Bristol card stock. I then used a little bit of water in the new Liquid Stardust and a small paintbrush to splatter the background--love the way that turned out! I cut the tree out of the Leafy Tree Backdrop die--Landscape. The new Build A House dies are so awesome--I didn't buy the Halloween Add-On dies, but I thought the Tiny Halloween stamps and dies added a cute Halloween flair to the card without being too spooky. :)

"A lot o' people don't realize what's really going on. They view life as a bunch o' unconnected incidents 'n things. They don't realize that there's this, like, lattice o' coincidence that lays on top o' everything. Give you an example; show you what I mean: suppose you're thinkin' about a plate o' watermelon. Suddenly someone'll say, like, plate, or watermelon, or plate o' watermelon out of the blue, no explanation. No point in lookin' for one, either. It's all part of a cosmic unconsciousness."
