Here is a DIY project to make shock cord holders. These are often used for tents or a dining fly. Commercially they are made with a plastic Ball on the end. Here is how I made mine.
1) I cut 1/2 inch or so pieces off of a Dowel rod (1.25 inch I think). I used a hand saw and miter box. This created a ragged edge which would have to be sanded out for a nicer finish. For what I am doing I did not do that.
2) Drilled a hole in the middle of this "Cookie". just big enough to push the shock cord through doubled at the center.
3) Cut my shock cord slightly longer than twice around the object I am securing. 3in pipe that protects my straight edges in this case.
4) Fused the ends of the shock cord so they do not fray.
5) Folded the shock cord at the middle. Pushed that center point through the hole in the "cookie"
6) Tied a figure 8 knot in the bitter end of the shock cord. Pushed the "cookie" to the knot.
7) Tacked the assembly to the wall of the shed where I wanted to secure my tools with a fence staple (a U shaped nail that is driven with a hammer).
8) set my pipe in place and looped the middle over the cookie.
9) Repeate steps 1-8 3 more times. Then step back and said what a good idea.
The more tools you put in the tool box the less thinking you have to do outside of it.

There are a bunch of uses for these. You could make the "cookie" out of all kinds of material. These will NOT be exposed to the weather so I did not finish them if I were planning on using them outside I would poly them.

The CFL offers plenty (sometimes excessive) of natural colour temperature light. It could be better diffused though. I drilled a 1" hole out the side for the plug and drilled holes in the bottom of the basket to pass through the nylon ties. I screw the CFL in to a plug then into the power strip. Voila.
Not the best quality light, but something to play with in the depths of winter boredom.

I was lucky enough to secure a media pass for the homecoming of Jessica Watson on June 6 at Mooloolaba. Jessica sailed in past Pt Cartwright and up to Alex Headlands and back into the Mooloolaba canals before disembarking at the Mooloolaba Yacht Club.

I'd argue this is negligent bordering on criminal.
My coworker was driving on the highway when the truck in front of him lost a large piece of metal it was carrying. If flew through the air and struck the van.
If you look at the photo of the steering wheel, you'll see it's bent. The steering wheel kept him from being impaled in the chest, neck or face.
Airbags did not deploy and he was covered in glass.
Police are still looking for that driver, who caused three additional, separate, accidents up the road as more metal rods fell off his truck.

[Attracting a mate in the animal kingdom often involves a bit of showing off, but for the Waved Albatross (Diomedea irrorata), securing a future for your genes comes down to one thing: a slap in the face. The dance includes a precise sequence of moves: rapidly circling and bowing, clacking beaks, mouth gaping, and finally raising their beaks skyward whilst letting out a "whoo-ooo" call to seal the deal. Once mated, a pair will lay just one egg per year, which they will guard vigilantly for two months.] The Waved Albatross (Phoebastria irrorata), also known as Galapagos Albatross, is the only member of the family Diomedeidae located in the tropics. When they forage, they follow a straight path to a single site off the coast of Peru, about 1,000 km (620 miles) to the east. During the non-breeding season, these birds reside primarily on the Ecuadorian and Peruvian coasts. The entire colony leaves Isla Española by January to fish for three months before returning. The juvenile albatrosses remain at sea for about five years to reach maturity before returning to Isla Española to seek a mate / Punta Suárez on Isla Española has an amazing variety and quantity of wildlife. Lazy sea lions may greet visitors at the rocky landing site, forcing visitors to step over or around them to get to the trail. Groups of young sea lions are often found nearby playing in the shallow water, waiting for their mothers to return with food. Brightly-colored red and green marine iguanas can be found lining the coastal areas near the landing site. They are the only marine iguanas that remain brightly colored throughout the year. The trail passes by a small beach occupied by more sea lions and large and colorful Española Lava Lizards. It then cuts through some saltbush, where Galapagos Hawks, Española Mockingbirds, three species of Darwin’s finches, and Galapagos Doves all go about their business. Visitors then come upon the impressive nesting colonies of Blue-footed and Nazca boobies, who make their nests right along the visitor trail near the western cliffs of the island. Swallow-tailed Gulls and Red-billed Tropicbirds dash in and out of the cracks in the cliffs. Continuing inland, the trail leads to a cliff on the southern side of the island overlooking the ocean. Waves crash into a lava fissure, creating a blowhole that sprays water nearly 30 m into the air at high tide. The highlight of this visitor site — and perhaps one of the highlights of the Galapagos Islands — is strolling along the edge of the Waved Albatross breeding colony. With a population of 25,000 to 30,000, nearly the entire world population of the adult birds can be found on Española between April and December. They mate for life and perform an elaborate mating dance, a spectacle that can last five days and may include stumbling, honking, and beak-fencing. Waved Albatross pairs produce a single egg each year and share responsibility for its incubation. Their grace in the air is sharply contrasted by their comic clumsiness on land. Lucky visitors will observe Waved Albatrosses wobble awkwardly to the cliff’s edge before launching themselves into the wind to take flight—many of them for the very first time in December. The entire colony leaves Española by January to fish for three months before returning.
Today I took the little Nikon S6500 out walking. I have on loan for a week and it is great fun to play with. Pocket cameras make for spontaneous photo taking which can add an element of surprise when I go home and download the images.

There was a big rah-rah anti-immigration protest in Garden City, Long Island. Actually, there were only about 15 people there. This shot was taken from the N24 en route to Roosevelt Field Mall. This guy started to write "their" but wrote "our" over it. Dude, you need to remember what side you're on.
In the basement of 100 King Street Manchester, is this vault - somewhat claustrophobic - surrounded by personal deposit boxes.
The room may be booked for a meal for in the centre is a narrow table. However, these cans of tinned tomatoes caught my eye, on a serving counter. Scarce food indeed!
(If the colour looks a little cool, I was trying to balance the light so that the boxes looked more like stainless steel.
