Securing the Homeland in the Post-Post 9/11 Era
Nearly two decades have passed since 9/11, and today’s terrorist threat environment is much more complicated and menacing than that posed by Al Qaeda back then. The new Secretary of Homeland Security explains how he is grappling with the challenge and the Trump administration’s plans for meeting it.

The Field Secured Container Vessel is a pretty obscure ship, which breaks with the conventional triangular shape of imperial ships. Building the cargo in the bubbles was interesting, as I wanted to achieve a skeletal look which still filled up most of the sphere. The bubbles can however be left out, and the ships should be able to function as book stands.
The MoC is based on the excellent Renders from Fractalsponge and the few other illustrations I could find. It is not UCS-Scale, but I went for a similar amount of detail.
Torbay Council have secured a heck of a lot of money for Torre Abbey and the Spanish Barn etc. Doesn't stop people from doing graffiti right in front of it though. The council has left it there for a long time now. You shouldn't be surprised at that. Recently a UNESCO conference was held next door to Torre Abbey. It was the largest conference in Torquay since the 1950's, but shelters near the conference centre that were caked in mud due to people kicking footballs at them during wet weather were left in that condition!
Torre Abbey is a historic building and art gallery in Torquay, Devon, which lies in the South West of England. It was founded in 1196 as a monastery for Premonstratensian canons, and is now the best-preserved medieval monastery in Devon and Cornwall. In addition to its medieval and Georgian rooms, Torre Abbey is known for the formal gardens, for the third largest art collection in the county of Devon and for regular exhibitions by contemporary artists.

The good lady and I took a wee 11wk old foster Collie to his new home today and just down the road is a doggy day park, ie. big secure area with agility stuff etc.
So took the opportunity to get our two boys down, as Rocky the beagle x pointer escapes off the lead, the high fences and other dogs would give him plenty of exercise.
BUT near the end, Stilo's small rubber ball that i was throwing for him got stuck in his throat... He threw up a few times and dropped to the floor at which point i ran over to see what was wrong...
His tongue was a deep purple colour and he was struggling to breath at which point I looked round and couldn't see the ball... FUUUUCCCCCCKKK
Adrenaline and panic kicked in and I had me hand down his throat and he clamped hard puncturing my hand which is agony but not bothered much :(
Then he stopped breathing completely and was motionless, after about 15 seconds I got the ball out and at this point others were on hand to help, with him motionless still and not breathing I couldn't watch him die and sat away from him in a state (we have had him from a pup and i couldn't see him come to any harm never mind see him pass at not even 2 years old)...
But another 20 seconds with the owners of the day park rubbing him and massaging him as well as handfuls of water in his mouth he came round slowly...
Frightening stuff!!!
We put him in the back seat with me keeping him warm and comforting him and Jo drove to a 24hr vets in Belfast where he was seen straight away and given Oxygen as his tongue wasn't a good colour still, within a few minutes he'd had enough, went out with the vet to pee and got some steroids & antibiotics and all his stats checked which were bang on...
Got the wee man home and into his bed whilst the neighbour came across a few times to check on him and let him out while I went to A&E to get the hand seen too, THANKFULLY we are both fine (In fact the needle in me arse hurt more than him biting) :D
Longest few minutes of my life!!!
Sorry for the long post but any fellow woof owners will understand where I am coming from lol

AML Wrestling Presented: FRIENDS & FOES, a night of family-friendly fun and a fundraiser at North Davidson High School on Saturday, September 24, 2016! Doors opened at 6pm for rows 1-3, 6:30pm for everyone else with a 7pm Bell Time.
Before the opening match, AML ring announcer Tim Blaze announced that, because of Zane Dawson's repeated attacks on AML personnel, 12 additional men were hired to provide additional security for the event. George South and Dawson then came to ringside and promised AML Owner Tracy Myers and Director Of Operations Brian Hawks that they were going to destroy AML. After security blocked Dawson from going after Tim Blaze, the ring was cleared and the matches began.
White Mike (w/Tommy Thomas) defeated Cam Carter and Joey Rogers in triple threat action.
In the "main roster" debut for three Future Stars of AML Wrestling, White Mike was able to take advantage of the counsel and distraction of Tommy Thomas to hit the Can Opener on Cam Carter to secure a pinfall. Tommy Thomas, who recently lost former client to Cedric Alexander when Alexander was signed by World Wrestling Entertainment, announced that he was looking for the next "big thing" to become the next Cedric, and he believes White Mike is destined for greatness.
The Young Lions (Kevin Kaufman and Lex Lee) beat The Mega Plowers (Jock Samson and Magnum CK)
The Lions rebounded from their loss to the Dixon Line last month to eke out a victory over the debuting Mega Plowers. The newcomers dominated the match, forcing Kevin Kaufman to spend most of the match in the ring, sustaining several vicious double team attacks. Kaufman was able to finally make a tag, and a flying shoulder drop was enough to get the pinfall on Jock Samson. Both teams would like to be in the Crockett Cup Tag Team Tournament October 23 in High Point, NC, and both teams made an excellent case to be included.
Caleb Konley pinned Chance Prophet
In a clear clash of styles, the technical athlete Konley battled the mysterious "Dark Child" in singles competition. Surviving several brutal hard core-style attacks from Prophet, Konley was able to fire back and eventually win via pinfall.
The Heat Seekers (Sigmon and Elliot Russell) defeated The Geordie Bulldogs (Mark Denny and Sean Denny) in a street fight to regain the AML Wrestling Tag Team Championship.
The Heat Seekers took advantage of the no-DQ rules here, as Zane Dawson made good on his promise to wreak havoc on AML. The Bulldogs looked like they were on the verge of retaining the tag team titles when Dawson interfered in the match. The Bulldogs fought back valiantly, but eventually the challengers were able to isolate Sean Denny and hit the heat-seeking missile on him to gain a tainted victory. The Heat Seekers became the first-ever tag team to win the championship twice.
Jordan Kage beat Darius Lockhart to win the AML Prestige Championship
A see-saw match between a ring veteran (Kage) and one of wrestling's most precocious stars had an unusual beginning; Tommy Thomas came to ringside and offered a birthday cake his managerial services to Darius Lockhart (September 24 was Lockhart's 21st birthday). Surprising Thomas and many of the fans in attendance, "The Revolutionary" turned the 2015 Manager of the Year down, saying he preferred to wrestle without a manager. The match unfolded as expected- with Kage employing a mechanical pace, and Lockhart attempting to wrestle in space. Eventually, Kage used referee Jeff Bunton as a weapon, shoving the official into the ropes while Lockhart was on the top turnbuckle. When Lockhart tumbled to the mat, Kage hit the youngster with the "Fuzzy 8x10" piledriver through the middle rope to get a three count. Jordan Kage is the new AML Prestige Champion. After the match, Thomas came to the ring and scolded Lockhart for turning him down as a manager. Lockhart responded by taking the proffered cake and smashing it in Thomas's face. The crowd enjoyed that.
Zane Dawson beat CW Anderson in an Extreme Rules Match
This was the much-anticipated return match from Second to None. George South was banned from ringside for this violent brawl, which featured tables, chairs, brooms, and more, and both men brawled all over the North Davidson High School gym. The match turned when Elliot Russel and Sigmon interfered in the match, and while Anderson was able to fight both of the Heat Seekers off, Dawson took advantage of the distraction and speared the Extreme Horseman through a table for the three count.
King Shane Williams (w/Queen Taylor) beat Damien Wayne by disqualification to retain the AML Wrestling Championship.
Damien Wayne nearly walked out of the gym with the AML Wrestling Championship at several moments in this titular affair, and his brawling style was nearly the match for King Shane's counterpunching and ground game. However, King Shane was able to hit Damien Wayne with a piledriver and was about to win the match when Zane Dawson, George South, and the Heat Seekers rushed into the ring and attacked both King Shane and Damien, causing AML referee Jeff Bunton to call for the bell and throw the match out. Dawson also attacked the security guards, leaving a trail of unconscious bodies in his wake and generally terrorizing the fans in attendance.
Kiplangat Ngetich, 15 year old scout from Keben Secondary School, Rift Valley province, Kenya, shows how to secure a bed net.
Kiplangat Ngetich is one of thousands of Kenyan scouts teaching his community how to properly use mosquito nets to prevent malaria.
More than 21,000 scouts from over 1,000 schools across Kenya who are taking part in a bed net-hanging project aimed at preventing the spread of malaria. The project is supported by UK’s Department for International Development (DFID) and is being undertaken in partnership with Kenya’s Division of Malaria Control, the Kenya Scouts Association and Population Services International (PSI) – Kenya.
The project aims to save the lives of Kenyans living in 36 malaria-prone districts by ensuring people sleep inside well tucked insecticide treated mosquito nets every night, the whole year round. Members of Kenya Scout clubs in affected districts adopted some 150,000 homes with 675,000 people to teach them how to properly hang and use bed nets to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes.
"I was very happy that at long last that this family is now safe from malaria,” Kiplangat says.

That's a security guard watching over crowds enjoying the Great Pyramids.
I traveled to Egypt by myself but as part of an escorted tour. One of our companions everywhere the bus went while in Cairo was a dapper fellow, who, briefly, opened his jacket to reveal the gun he was carrying underneath. That actually made us feel more, rather than less, secure.
Day 112/365
Week 14 Theme: Something Mexican (hey I was born in Mexico, so this counts)
* We all have a story to tell. Our life story. It is an even better story when the after is better than the before. That is my story. I grew up in a very secure home. My parents loved me and raised me in a nurturing home. I had a great sister and 2 older brothers to look up to. It wasn't perfect, but it was a safe and secure Christian home. My parents were even missionaries to Mexico. They weren't rich monetarily but they made up for it in their love for us kids.Yet even at an early age I knew that no matter how secure my home and family were, I was not secure. I knew that I was not worthy of a perfect and Holy God. Even my little egotistical actions and lies of a kid were enough to keep me from His presence. I also knew that He loved me so much that he sent Christ to come die for those sins. I just wasn't sure what I could do. So, I asked the best theologian I knew - my dad. He explained that it was as simple as asking God to forgive my sins and accept Him as my Savior. It was that simple. Simple enough for me to grasp it that day many years ago. That day God saved me and became my friend for eternity. I'd be lying if I said all has been great since then. I've had many years of anger toward God. But that had nothing to do with God, it was when my ideas of what He was supposed to do interfered with his plans for my life. It was also when I looked at others as my exclusive role models and ended up being disappointed by them. Christians aren't perfect, we have just accepted His forgiveness. I being one of the most imperfect, sinful people out there. Yet when I have let Him control my life and lead me, I have had incredible peace and security! No matter what happens to me, I know He is in control and has me by the hand leading and protecting me. In Him I am completely Secure!

Attached to one of the rails on the shoulders of the Corktown pedestrian bridge over the Rideau Canal in Ottawa, a padlock named "Secure", with the fading names of Julie and Joel. According to the Ottawa Citizen: "This practice of accessorizing the railings of bridges with love-locks traces back, apparently, to a tragic Serbian romance-gone-wrong during World War I. Since the turn of the century the social phenomenon, minus the tragic element, has gone real-life viral. Most major cities now have a bridge with tons of unopenable locks on them..."
Parents are the only security to their children. They are not only a Gift from Allah Almighty, but a blessing as well. The only security in our childhood.....

1983. When life on an unsheltered flight deck is less than beer and skittles. The body language of the two men in the foreground looks absolutely chilled. The destroyer astern is HMAS WARRAMUNGA.
This is another photo taken during the joint RAN-RNZN fleet exercises in New Zealand Feb-March 1950.
At an anchorage in Wales before her delivery, photographer Allen Porter recalls, the wind over the deck was such that SYDNEY flew an aircraft off while stationary.
In another notable moment during a waterfront strike in Hobart, Captain Roy Dowling had berthed the carrier using the maneouvre known as 'pin-wheeling,' in which the engines of the carrier's aircraft, secured to the deck,. were used to maneourve the ship alongside.
An innovation perfected by the USN, it had been known to have been used in the Royal Navy, and HMAS MELBOURNE was later to twice perform the same feat with her Tracker aircraft, in Port Melbourne, and Auckland, while from memory SYDNEY [III] did it again in Fremantle. In the 1940s and 1950s Australia was a very strike-prone country, particularly on the waterfront, and 'pin-wheeling' was a usual tactic for a carrier captain to know.

Keep your home secure, and keep that burglar from spoiling your Christmas
The Greater Manchester Police Advent calendar went live in on 1 December 2012.
Visitors to the Force’s website could open a new window each day and watch a short video clip about safety and security.
To make the message as engaging as possible, it was decided to use a fun approach based around Santa and a cast of Christmas characters and locations.
The final cast included a pantomime dame, elves, comedy burglars, a Victorian Peeler and the goose that lost her golden egg. The parts were all played by volunteer members of staff. The films also featured uniform police officers and PCSOs.
The calendar was produced by the Force's Corporate Communications Branch.
