Scenic, South Dakota; one of the former businesses along the main street of Scenic. The town was founded around the turn of the 20th century as a railroad and ranching town. The railroad discontinued operations some years ago leading to the decline and eventual abandonment of the town. Some of the
businesses along the main street (highway) were open as recently as the early 2010's. Now the town is empty, and the old buildings are deteriorating.

No date information (fashions might suggest 1970s). I haven't placed this yet, there are several in the batch that include that mountain and the three crosses -- which are not as helpful as you might think. I know it's a Spanish-speaking location.
Cardiff Bus have recently acquired 12 10-year old Mercedes Citaros, to add to the existing fleet of 40 similar machines. They've come from Bus Vannin, Isle of Man and are currently being fitted out and sprayed into a revised fleet livery. The fleet numbers will be 141 - 152 with their new UK registrations currently being sorted at the DVLA.
Shown is ex. Bus Vannin 211 (KMN-211-L) still wearing the livery of it's previous owner. They will replace the Enviro 300's, 701-706 & 711-716, which were new in 2004.
This is an exercise shot trying to control shadow direction and hardness.

Frame is stamped "Oct 69." For one reason or another I've seen very few African Americans in the secondhand slides I've bought on eBay. There are all sort of points in the ownership chain that might/not explain this.
One wonders if vehicles like this London Midland and Scottish Railway Covered Combination Truck M35289 will ever be restored especially as it would as far as I can see have virtually no practical use on the Foxfield Railway. It is currently stored at Foxfield colliery, 5th May 2018.
Vehicle History
Between 1925 and 1934 the London Midland and Scottish Railway built three hundred and fifty Covered Combination Trucks to diagram 1872. They had 30ft 5inch outside framed bodies although the last two lots (one hundred vehicles) had 30ft 1inch bodies. They were mounted on a 21ft, six wheeled chassis and the overall design bore a strong resemblance to a Midland Railway design which no doubt was the basis of these vehicles. A number seem to have used secondhand underframes and it is believed that parts of the underframe on M35289 date from the Midland Railway era. Withdrawal commenced in 1955 and being six wheeled vehicles they were prohibited from passenger trains in 1959, which limited there revenue use somewhat and a number ended there days in the departmental fleet including M35289 which became DM395556. The body shows the modifications made for departmental use with the end doors replaced by planking and a number of “windows” cut into the body.
Crosville Wales inherited a number of ECW bodied Leyland Olympians from the parent Crosville fleet when it was first formed in August 1986. Subsequently many secondhand examples were acquired. DOL402 (YWX 402X) an ONTL11/1R fitted with Northern Counties H43/28F came from South Yorkshire (102), Pontefract. Here it is seen in Caernafon on October 15th 1997.
