Scenic, South Dakota; one of the former businesses along the main street of Scenic. The town was founded around the turn of the 20th century as a railroad and ranching town. The railroad discontinued operations some years ago leading to the decline and eventual abandonment of the town. Some of the
businesses along the main street (highway) were open as recently as the early 2010's. Now the town is empty, and the old buildings are deteriorating.
If your name is Purple Motors, then a good way to save some money is to go out and buy buses which are already purple ! Chester City Transport's livery was close enough for them, so they became a regular source of secondhand service buses through the 1970s and 1980s.
The last ones to arrive were a pair of PSU4 Leopard Duples in 1987, which remained in use until the firm's sale to Arriva Cymru in 1998, but they were very quickly disposed of. And they probably retained their Chester fleet numbers right to the end !

From earlier this week, in this GORGEOUS dress I picked up from @uturnvintage a few weeks back. Perfect in-the-office wear, doncha think?
I'm wrapping up scanning on a batch of about 2,500 slides I bought on eBay, and it seems as if half of them came from one single family. By no means did I scan them all -- it seems as if the photographer shot as many as (s)he liked, indiscriminately, with little concern for the costs of film and development. Based on what I could discern, that would have been a minor cost to them. I know the town they lived in, I saw the size of their parties, and I saw where they vacationed, their camps: they were not middle class. But something which struck me was the nature of the Christmas presents that were exchanged: many of them seemed homemade or simple, not really mass-manufactured toys. I think that's an interesting contrast. (Frame is stamped "Nov 77.")

The Boeing Collection
From a collection of some 500 Boeing slides that I've had scanned from my archives. Hope they will provide some enjoyment and nostalgia from a bygone age.
One of Iran Air's two Boeing 747-286Bs EP-IAG is seen here taxiing in the sunshine for a runway 28L departure at London Heathrow. Callsign was IR730.
Iran Air at Heathrow In the 1970s and early 1980s, Iran Air used a mix of Boeings into London Heathrow. We had their four short 727s EP-IRA, B, C & D on a regular basis, but I never managed to catch one of the stretched 727-200s! [see comments section below]. The 707s EP-IRL, M & N gave way gradually to the 747s EP-IAG & H and 747SPs EP-IAA, B, C & D which took over most of the services. There were also some secondhand 707s in the form of EP-IRJ, K, N451RN & N794RN, the latter two being freighters.
EP-IAG c/n 21217 - Boeing 747-286B was delivered new to Iran Air in Oct 1976, the first of two brand new 747s that the airline bought. The aircraft flew its entire life with Iran Air, apart from a short lease to Nigeria Airways in Sep-Oct 1982. I believe the aircraft continued to fly until 2005, but is now listed as stored on RZ Jets - withdrawn from use at Tehran-Mehrabad.

Not overly fond of this batch I received last month. I only bothered to scan 55 of the hundred... At least 10 were shots of somebody's dog.
A test with my new secondhand 1.4 extender in combination with my telelens. It says 700 mm, but since I have a DX camera it is actually 1050 mm ... :)
I feel happy to see her expression, so I captured her immediately.
This is one of my favorite places in Prague.
