The BNCP Transfer (from BNSF's Northtown Yard in Minneapolis to CP's St. Paul Yard in St. Paul) delivering two SD9043MACs that CP recently purchased from Union Pacific.
What a day at the flea market - nothing cost more than 2 Euros, often less. Inspiration for new still lifes!
Stamped October, 1972. I can't find anything online to confirm my assumption that they're in sacks in order to restrain them from hurting each other.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to view, comment, and fave my photo. It’s really appreciated. 😊
Somewhere in Washington State, possibly Seattle. (One of the posters is for the Bellevue Philharmonic, in action at the time.)
Five locomotives from three builders, all in the care of their second owners, get ready to go out on the road at the Delaware & Hudson’s East Binghamton engine terminal. At the far end are an EMD GP38-2 and two Alco C420’s, all inherited by the D&H from the Lehigh Valley as part of the formation of Conrail. The two Maine Central U23B’s, coincidentally, began life on the D&H, but were recently reappropriated as MEC assets by Guilford.
Stamped December, 1983. No location information... But those residential towers beyond the golf course and the nearby water are intriguing.

Mount is stamped "OCT 69." Ross Allen's was in Silver Springs (Florida), and I had totally forgotten about it until seeing this slide. I'm sure we went to it at least twice on family vacations. Ross Allen was a herpetologist; you can read more about him on Wikipedia.
I'm especially glad to have happened on this one because my Dad didn't save any of his slides from this period, and I have a morsel of my childhood back.

1000 pieces, purchased secondhand (in a charity shop) but unused, still sealed, and complete
300 x 900 mm
This little beauty was discovered - like the vast majority of our puzzles - in a charity shop. It was still sealed and the box looked like new, complete with shrinkwrap. Being a Ricordi, although it was a panorama it just fitted our 1500pc board for assembly (a lot of panoramic puzzles are larger). Easily assembled, it was the perfect project after the last couple of larger puzzles.

Red and white wingtip pumps. Awesome. Rather disgustingly, they were filled with foot powder. I appreciate the gesture, but gross.
Following the Chikuma River Valley southeast of Nagano is the Shinano Railway. Once operated by JR East as a main line between Tokyo and Nagoya, the line was transferred to this private operator in 1997 after the opening of the Hokuriku Shinkansen. The railway is the main service for local passenger operations in the valley.
Rolling stock is diverse, though gradually becoming modernized. As of early 2024 they operate a small fleet of secondhand former JNR 115 series EMU's. Here a Karuizawa bound local slows for Nishiueda Station as it passes a track worker.

Other than a few Alco road switchers, the Maine Central's road power was largely EMD until GE sold them ten U18 "baby boats" in 1975. Later, the MEC ended up with two classes of secondhand U-boats. Fourteen U25B’s came from the Rock Island as part of that road’s liquidation, and Guilford shuffled power between its roads, resulting in fourteen D&H U23B’s landing on the MEC roster. Here an example of each of the secondhand classes, in GTI paint, stand in the D&H engine terminal in East Binghamton
