Fishwork #6: THE SECOND COMING
July 19, 1976
Venice, Italy
On July 19, 1976 Jan van Raay will execute, in Venice, Italy, a conceptual art work entitles "The Second Coming", an outgrowth of Ms. van Raay's 1974 Fishwork entitled "Fish in Venice." The artist will sign and number 100 "Fish in Venice" photo-postacrds and address the cards to herself. A note attached to the cards, printed in English, German, and French, will state: THIS IS AN ART PROCESS. THIS CARD IS FREE. PLEASE RETURN IT (OR A SUBSTITUTE) TO THE ARTIST WITH ANY MESSAGE. THANK YOU. Ms. van Raay will then proceed to various sites in Venice which have souvenir post card racks. She will place her "Fish in Venice" postcards among the souvenir cards; photograph each rack at its location; record the exact time of placement, and the numbers of the cards, to complete her documentation. She will continue this process until all of the 100 cards have been distributed throughout the city of Venice. "The Second Coming" will then complete itself.
39 of the postcards were returned to me. 8 people sent other things. The results were published in a self-made book "Second Coming."

How to Welcome Jesus’ Return to Be After God’s Will
Gao Huimin:
Hello, brothers and sisters! Acts 1:11 says: “You men of Galilee, why stand you gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as you have seen him go into heaven.” The Lord left on a white cloud after His resurrection, and so He will return on a white cloud. Holding fast to this viewpoint, I’ve been on constant lookout for the Lord’s descending on a cloud. However, some time ago, I heard from my classmate that the Lord had returned, and that He had become flesh and come down to the earth as the Son of man to do His work and speak. I can’t see this matter clearly. It’s true that the prophecies of the Lord’s second coming have been basically fulfilled. But I still haven’t seen the Lord coming with a cloud to take us. I feel confused: Am I right to await the Lord’s coming on a cloud? I’d like to discuss this with you and hope you can give me some help.
Sister Yu:
I’ve just seen your post, and I feel the same way. In 2000, the pastors said that the Lord would be bound to return and take us back to the heavenly home someday. But it’s 2018 now, and yet we haven’t seen the Lord coming with clouds to take us. Nowadays, disasters are frequently happening all over the world, such as flood, drought, earthquakes and wars, which exactly fulfills the prophecies of the last days the Lord Jesus said to His disciples. Judging from the signs, we can see that the time of the Lord’s return seems to have come. What your classmate said may be a fact. I think the Lord’s coming is an important thing and you should make an investigation.
Sister Zhu:
Sister Gao and Sister Yu, we can’t lose faith in the Lord, because He is trustworthy. The Bible clearly says: “And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory” (Luke 21:27). It was said by the Lord Himself that He will come with clouds at His return, and that every eye will see Him. The Lord’s words won’t be wrong. So there is no need to worry, and we just continue to await the Lord’s descending on a cloud to take us.

3 Key Points of Welcoming the Second Coming of Jesus
By Yan Jin
How can we welcome the coming of the Lord? This is a big question for us believers in God. In the last days, whether we can enter the kingdom of heaven depends on whether we can welcome the Lord’s return and attend the marriage banquet of the Lamb. In order to welcome the Lord’s return, we often watch and wait, but do we know how to watch and wait to meet the Lord? I believe the three points below can show us the way.
Quick Navigation
We should not rely on notions and imaginations, but should have reverence for God.
We should take the initiative to seek and investigate the true way.
We should pay attention to seeking the voice of God.
1. We should not rely on notions and imaginations, but should have reverence for God.
On the matter of watching and waiting for the coming of the Lord, we can’t rely on our notions and imaginations but ought to have reverence for God. In the past, while the Pharisees waited for the coming of the Messiah, they were not reverent before God, just living in their notions and imaginations. Their main manifestations are that they explained the prophecies of the coming of the Messiah according to their own imaginations, and that they believed based on the literal meaning of the prophecies that God could only come with the name Messiah, be born in the palace and aristocracy, and be the King of the Jews. But when the Lord came with the name Jesus and was born in an ordinary family of carpenters, the Pharisees concluded that He was definitely not the Messiah they hoped for. In addition, they held the thought that the Messiah should appear to them and work in the temple rather than preach among the lower classes, such as tax collector, and fishermen. The Pharisees lived in their notions and imaginations; they resisted and condemned the Messiah while waiting for His coming. They insisted on their own notions and imaginations, blindly condemned the arrival of God, and finally colluded with the Roman government to nail the Lord to the cross, seriously offending God’s disposition. Therefore, we must not follow in the footsteps of the Pharisees in the matter of waiting for the Lord’s coming and cannot use our own notions and imaginations to judge that God should come like this or that, because the appearance and work of the Lord is so unpredictable and wise that we will never be able to see through the mystery contained within. Just as Jehovah God said, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, said Jehovah. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:8-9).
