it gets to feeling like a scene from a slasher movie around the reception desk at nighttime but it's an amazing place to think up new ideas.

Welcome to my 2nd 28s!

The North Western was a great buyer of used power in the 1970's & 80's to replace their older power. On January 8, 1985, CNW No 482 rolled through Minnesota City, just 5.7 miles west of Winona, MN, with former Burlington Northern SD45's. Leader CNW 6589 began life as CBQ 530 and then became BN 6471 before coming to the CNW. Trailing CNW 657 started out as GN 421 then BN 6451 before the CNW.

2-244 easily makes track speed through Killean with CP 6261, UP 6453, and a dozen cars (10 of which have just been picked up at Galt)

You know, when I caught the pair of GTs working Humko the other day, I didn't expect to be shooting them on their rarer excursion with cars of limestone, which I believe are deposited at Prairie Materials near Plastipak. Sure, it meant I'd be late for work, but I wasn't going to pass up the opportunity!

GTW4927 and GTW4910 have swapped places since I last caught them, but the venerable old Geeps sound great as ever as they shove further down the Seymour Spur, formerly the IC Havana District. They'll sit there for a short while, come up and drop the caboose, and spot their limestone cars across the street before picking up and heading back to Kraft. It was quite nice of the city to come in and trim those bushes alongside the small wooden bridge when they redid that section of Springfield Avenue - certainly made shooting the train easier!

Congrats! The photo ** LOOK 190 ** LSR-Bishes inc you added to the group A Sexy Second Life has been selected to be its cover photo.

Though I'd make a splash

Titled for the #FlickrFriday group week's challenge: second wind. Couple of reasons -- the band has sort of a "second wind" playing out on its 40 anniversary tour, and the current lead singer of Foreigner was crazy full of energy. So lots of second winds for him during the concert, including having fun with the photo pit photographers. Photographed for St. Louis Magazine.

The morning clouds presented the perfect light for the shot I had in mind so I got up and made my way to this spot at Severn Beach. Sadly about half way through this 5 minute exposure the sun popped out behind me creating some harsh contrast that was not part of my plan.

Despite this, the result is not unpleasant but I will be making my way back on another day.

Blog

This is my last photo post of this year. I deliberately left this one for the last day of the year. When I reflect on the weather this year, I don’t think I had much luck in my local area. I hope that changes with Winter.

In the last couple of weeks, we had two days of just mild snowfall. But still, it was lovely. This photo was taken on the second time snow was falling. Although I was struggling to get a proper photo to be satisfied. Out of the bunch, I kinda like this one the most because of, you guessed it, the paddle with some autumnal leaves. In my previous wonders around this spot, I always noticed that the ground in this area after some rain or snow, where the paddle is, was always a bit muddy and wet, but I was never there to see the paddle. So I used it now as a sort of an anker to lead the viewer into the rest of the photo. You could see parts of the paddle with some icing on it. I have a mixture of colours in the photo, which I like. So, for the first Winter photo, I think it’s a nice one. I am waiting for I much heavier snow to fall and hopefully to stay for a while. It would be so cool to visit several forest areas around my place of living and explore while there is a thick layer of snow.

At last, I want to say how grateful I am for having the chance to share my photos here on Flickr. There are some folks here with a seriously good photo gallery, which is always great for some inspiration.

Looking forward to getting some good photos and posting them here but until then… Cheers everybody!

This was a Home Despot tropical sale item that didn't fare too well under my wife's expert care; a cum laude horticulture grad, she professed "no idea" as to what it was. When I asked her not to throw it away, she muttered dismissively "dead plant." Satisfyingly, she actually likes the picture. What I like is the shapes and textures, and the one leaf pointing to the corner.

Male Painted Buntings aren't fully colored until the end of their second year. This one is close, but his breast is more yellow than the watermelon red of the mature birds. Our beautiful world, pass it on.
