An evening messing around with two mat boards, one flashgun and a seashell.

We had a few sunny days last weekend and earlier this week, so I took the opportunity to take a few pictures of the seashells we collected at the beach last summer. The mountains are great, but I really miss the ocean sometimes.

For this picutre, I took seashells and seahorses that our teacher had collected and laid them out on the scanner the way I wanted my picture to look. I put a peiece of black bristol board and laid it on top. After I scanned it I opened it on photoshop on my computer and edited it to make it look better. I changed it to black and white and sent it to the teacher where he printed it off into a negative. I exposed it for 12 minutes on a peice of paper that i had painted with a yellow mixture. I let it sit in water until the blue stopped dripping from it and let it dry.

Seashells I collected on Caladesi Island including lightning whelks, pear whelks, moon snails, scallops, conch and many others.
