the dinosaurs.

TAKEBU, the artist and a friend of mine,

created them with seashells he collected on the beach.

And I shot this photo.

I am going to have a group exhibition with him next year.

A seashell or sea shell, also known simply as a shell, is a hard, protective outer layer created by an animal that lives in the sea. The shell is part of the body of the animal.

totally unimaginative name, I know, but it was a long Monday.

Whilst strolling along Blackpool Promenade, I noticed this large seashell. It is a common site to see them broken as a result of being dropped from the sky by Seagulls in their attempt to access and eat the tasty morsel within. In this case the strong shell had been chipped but had not broken open. I picked it up thinking that it was an empty shell, but to my surprise a small crab had made it home, as I held the shell the crab withdrew to the safety of the inner reaches of the shell. I returned the shell and it’s occupant to a rock pool. See my next photo.

These tiny little shells are encased in a leaded bevel case I made.

My friend showed me this wonderful seashell he had gotten from his grandmother. I was totally mesmerized.

I took an Xray of a seashell, copied that on a lightbox with several blue filters with positive film, then scanned in the film.

I couldn't pass up this beautiful bundle of seashell fabrics...plan to make tiered skirts for my granddaughters.

doodling warm things on a cold winter day. This is on an old bingo card with trading stamps and maps and acrylic paint.

the seashell looked so pretty that I decided to take a picture ... it was at a gift shop in Fort Lauderdale....

Envelope that I made from a sheet of scrapbook paper with a photo of seashells. Sent to a Postcrossing member in Finland.

Alli's birthday cake. Gumpaste seashells, royal icing coral and brown sugar was mixed with organic sugar to make the sand.

This cake was inspired by Shirley Wilson's beautiful beach themed cakes.

Seashells on a Beach During Sunset

The most fascinating of nature's creatures must be the seashell. The shell is the external skeleton of a soft-bodied animal called the mollusk. Half of the world's mollusks are marine, the other half land or fresh water types. Their unique shapes, vivid, bright colors and spectacular patterns have delighted us all. No other animal in the world is as widely collected as the seashell.

This is now FINALLY hanging over the mirror in the hall bath. The image is a placemat from Fish River Grill #2 in Foley, Alabama. For a closer look, I recommend viewing in the Original size.

Note: This was the most confusing item I've ever labeled for identification, but I guess it was worth it.

Thanks to leschick for the great texture.

Sooo....this was another one of my art homeworks.

This is my oh so beautiful collection of seashells. There aren't many of them and there's nothing all that extravagant about them, but I love their textures and patterns and the memories they carry. So they're perfect for taking my mind off all life's worries.
