A brief visit this morning to see our local seal population. Over 1000 pups born in the last month, and lots more to come.

It was really foggy when I was there and this took quite a bit of work to remove the haze. Just learnt a new technique off of the Flickr Technique group to use LAB colorspace to make colors "pop". I'm pretty pleased with the results. View large for more detail.

Rothera, Antarctica

Once hunted off the mainland of New Zealand these magnificent animals are reappearing on the beaches of mainland New Zealand. This bull was one of 14 on the beach the day I went for a walk.

I took a day trip away to Ravenscar on the East coast to find the common seal colony. A truely stunning place!

Large seal colonies trive on the shores on the Atlantic Ocean along the Skeleton Coast of Namibia.
