Whilst looking through Instagram recently, I discovered there are some amusements, including a helter-skelter being built on South Parade Pier! Such a turn around for a pier that was closed and left to rot just a few years ago! Tim, JJ and I went for a close look last weekend!
I took this during an afternoon walk at the beginning of November. The Isle of Wight is in the distance, but it's too misty to see.

As part of our walks along the seafront, we usually walk round the sea side of Southsea Castle. Sorry it's a bit grainy, but it was shot on my phone. I could have faded the noise, but I would have lost the clouds a bit too. You can see some landmarks here, including the war monument, 'lipstick tower' and the Spinnaker Tower, which is trying to hide behind the monument! ^_
Aberystwyth's seafront is renowned for its charming rows of brightly coloured, terraced Georgian and Victorian buildings that create a picturesque, postcard-worthy backdrop to the promenade. This vibrant architecture is a key feature of the town's character and a popular subject for photos.
Key Characteristics
Style and Era: The buildings are primarily elegant examples of 19th-century Georgian and Victorian architecture, converted over time into hotels, apartments, and houses. They feature classic architectural details like bow windows and ornate ironwork balconies.
Colour Palette: While the specific shades vary from house to house, the overall effect is a cheerful, "cheerfully clashing" mix of pastel and vibrant colours, including blues, pinks, yellows, and greens. This deliberate painting scheme gives the seafront a distinct and lively "holiday vibe".
Location: These colourful rows stretch along the curving promenade, particularly prominent along North Beach and South Marine Terrace, set against the backdrop of the hills and the sea.
Visual Impact: The colourful facades, especially when illuminated by the sun or framed by one of Aberystwyth's famous sunsets, contribute significantly to the town's appeal as a classic and charming Welsh seaside resort.
This was taken on brighton seafront a while ago. the shadows that day were beautiful and i got a few shots, mostly of BMXers, but i also got one of this couple
Worthing seafront. I know what you're thinking. What amazing legs I have for a man of my age!. :) Another test of my new PEN E-P5 with my M.Zuiko 17mm f/1.8 lens.
Revisting this www.flickr.com/photos/boblyp/2281904952/, taking the original photos and reprocessing them through new HDR sofware, joining two HDR images through new panorama software. Previously with www.flickr.com/photos/boblyp/2281904952/ I was a bit scared of the amount of red/orange in the picture. However, this is much closer to the conditions at the time and the new HDR software allows me to make a little more of the huddle of people at the top of the slope on this most extraordinary of sunset evenings
It was too windy to spend much time at the seafront, but a visit wouldn't have been complete without a stroll along the beach! JJ and I walked along Swanage jetty
