Phone and internet connection still not working. It's been nearly 2 weeks.
I spend half an hour in a call box yesterday, negotiating an automated system before getting through to someone whose accent I could hardly understand only to have them tell me what I already knew: that an underground cable needs replacing which means getting in "the contractors". When pressed to estimage a time she thought days rather than weeks or months but didn't sound very sure. She also said she would text me an update which has not arrived.
I feel seriously out of touch with the work and just don't know what to do to get them to fix it ...

Sunset seen from the promenade at Kemp Town, Brighton. The sun doesn't get much higher in the sky than this in the middle of winter, even at noon. You forget how far north England is until you see the sun just above the horizon in the middle of the day!
