Hayden Bridge Station on the gateway EMX (bus rapid transit) line. The red structure is a scupture entitled Splashdam, symbolizing the lumber industry in Springfield.

This scupture--Cantamar by Woods Davy, a gift from Ernest Lieblich--is located in our sculpture garden, embodies our tireless efforts.

I've driven by these scuptures a million times and thought I should take some pictures of them and finally took the time too.

Welded Wonders Project, the initiative of Matt Zubick, a member of the family that owns and operates the east London scrap yard. John Zubick Ltd. was founded in 1948, and remains one of London's leading scrap metal yards.

The project works like this; the materials for the projects come from Zubicks and the Fine Art (3 year advanced Diploma program) Fanshawe students supply the vision and talent. At Zubicks we also provide manpower, safety equipment and welding advise free of charge.

NoCal is Sasquatch country, so there were Bigfoot chainsaw sculptures all over. What I DO NOT know is why all of them shared the same face as sculptures of sad Native Americans.

Because we love God and one another...

Promise yourself to be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet. To make all your friends feel that there is something in them. To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.

To think only of the best, to work only for the best and expect only the best. To be just as enthusiastic about the successof others as you are about your own.

To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to greater achievents of the future. To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.

To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too joyful to permit the presence of trouble.

In your strength Lord, for your glory and honor. Amen.

I made these two sets (2 colors) of Giraffes yesterday for a gallery in Wisconsin.

In the left foreground is the scupture 'Molecule' by Mark di Suvero.

Per the Walker Art Center website:

"The monumental scale and sweeping gestures of this red-painted sculpture are characteristic of the enormous outdoor structures Mark di Suvero has been making since the 1970s, using cranes to manipulate the massive industrial materials with which he works.

In the right background is the Guthrie Theater.

Per Wikipedia:

"Founded in 1963, the Guthrie is a center for theater performance, production, education, and professional training in Minneapolis (MN).

It is the result of the desire of Sir Tyrone Guthrie, Oliver Rea, and Peter Zeisler to create a resident acting company that would produce and perform the classics in an atmosphere removed from the commercial pressures of Broadway.

The Guthrie Theater has performed in two main-stage facilities. The first building was designed by Ralph Rapson, included a 1,441-seat thrust stage designed by Tanya Moiseiwitsch, and was operated from 1963–2006.

After closing its 2005–2006 season, the Theater moved to its current facility designed by Jean Nouvel.

Manuel de Tolosa Latour (Madrid, 1857-Madrid, 1919)

He dedicated his professional life to children's medicine. He founded several hospitals for tubercular children. In 1904, Tolosa Latour also got the approval of a Law for the Protection of Children, to physically and morally safeguard abandoned children under 10 years of age.

On the pedestal and under the bust of Tolosa Latour, there is a beautiful scene sculpted in bronze: a mother lifts her daughter in her arms, bringing her closer to the doctor. The fluidity and fall of the folds of the women's classic-style tunic stand out. Far from appearing metallic and heavy, they give a feeling of lightness. Who were the models for this maternal scene? Neither more nor less than the wife and daughter of Dr. Tolosa Latour himself.

This is one of several carved busts of prominant members of the Society of Painters in Water-colours on the third story facade of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour former gallery at 190-195 Picadilly, London. It is strange that older artists fromt he earlier watercolor society of London were chosen to adorn the building of the rival and newer association of watercolor painters.

I used ProSculpt polymer clay for all of this piece. Face is hand sculpted. Barnackles, larvae, vines and squiggles are hand sculpted. I made a two part mold of some coral and used it for the flat base of this piece and then went over it with pins and tools to emphasize the "veining".

This scupture took me by surprise. It's in a room of 18th century paintings. It took me quite a while to figure out it isn't a real person.
