The fountain of Amphitrite is one of the jewels that adorns Place Stanislas in Nancy. It is the work of sculptor Barthélémy Guibal (1699-1757) from Nîmes.

The sun had been playing hide and seek for a good part of the afternoon. Then suddenly, it sprang up and illuminated with a bright light Place Stanislas and the statue of King Stanislas which sits on the square.

Sculpture "Dynamics in Impermanence" by Nicole Larkin

Scupture by the Sea, Bondi 2016

In the Avenide de las Americas and outside the George R. Brown Convention Center stands “Wings Over Water” a creation by artist and sculptor Joe O’Connell. It represents the fluttering wing feathers of a migrating bird (a very large one) and underneath, a fountain displays changing light around the kinetic sculpture in waves of red, white, blue, and greens. The Sculpture is 70 feet long, and is made of steel, aluminum and high-tech stamisol fabric, and this is a small section of the sculpture.

Today's theme for the the Macro Mondays group is Magnetic. This is a magnetic scupture desk toy made up of stars and moons.

Beautiful Paris - Fontaine de la place de la Concorde

Between 1428 and 1450, when it was dug, Het Singel was part of the perimeter of Amsterdam. Today, of course, it's a very central canal. Construction at Bridge 8 - once called 'Distribution-to-the-Poor Bridge' - at the Raadhuisstraat crossing made a temporary bridge a few meters away necessary. It's now used by pedestrians and bikes. The light sculpture was designed by René Gast and Yvonne Kroes. It's a playful rendering of an Octopus. That fits a tradition in Amsterdam that shows magical creatures sculpted in many of its bridges. Moreover, you'll often see Octopi on old sea charts and world maps. At the Raadhuisstraat it symbolises the maritine power once of Amsterdam to the very horizons of the oceans.

The photo was taken from the Torensluis Bridge.

Description: Your biggest dreams are very tiny, because there are always something bigger - the tiny fragile link between eternal life and death.

My copy of the sculpture of the “Dama de Elche” which is a limestone bust discovered in 1897 at La Alcudia, an archaeological site on a private estate two kilometers south of Elche, Spain. It is currently exhibited in the National Archaeological Museum in Madrid. It is believed the original dates back to the 4th century BC.

Reflection of the entrance to the Adelaide Central Plaza in the stainless steel sculpture (aptly named Malls Balls) of two balls, one balanced on top of the other.

It is situated in the middle of Rundle Mall -- the main city shopping mall, with wide paved street filled with trees, lamp posts, benches, buskers, and the occassional bike trailer selling food.

Local heroes in Bermondsey, rightly commemorated with these statues.

This is 'Old Neptune' Public House in Whitstable, Kent. It is one of only a handful of pubs to be found on the beaches of Britain.

Like much of Whitstable beach, the site of the Old Neptune was probably occupied by a boatyard workshop which was washed away in Estuary storms and gales.....

In 1853 the Old Neptune Beer House suffered serious structural damage when an exceptionally high tide combined with a northerly gale washed away her foundations. Another great storm in 1883 resulted in the wrecking of several vessels awaiting repair along the shore. The Neptune, although spared this time was used as a temporary morgue to receive bodies of those killed in the storm.

Finally in 1897 the old wooden building was completely washed away by another great storm.. The Old Neptune was rebuilt using timber reclaimed from the original structure and several other cottages that had also been destroyed.

Although the building has warped and twisted over the years, the timber structure seems to accommodate movement as can be seen in the window frames and sloping floors.....
