This was the main project for my Manufacturing Processes II course. This final product is polished cast lead. He was sculpted in Firm Super Sculpy and was molded using Tin-Sil 70-60 Mold Rubber from Polytek. He is my first stab at working in any kind of metal.
This guy is my first experiment in the realm of action figure customizing. Base Torsos and Legs (from a couple random Star Wars figures I had lying around) sculpted over with Sculpy clay and the head is cast in Smooth-On plastic in an alginate mold from a Schleich Wolf I have; then sculpted over again with Sculpy to make stronger.
(Wings are from a GI Joe figure)
This is just my first experiment in using pre-fabricated parts to create my own creature.
my daughter decided she's had enough 2D work for today, so we moved into 3D; I made the "Easter Island head", and the kid commented on it, with figure in the foreground.
This is my first clay sculpture that I have done for a cake coming up in April. He is one of the 5 animals that I am sculpting for the cake. More to come!! ;)
Little snowman made from foam balls, sticks, felt, fabric scraps, sculpy nose and cotton wool wadding. A touch of glitter mixed into the final coat of paverpol.
this is sculpey and is just about 11" tall. I made it in 3 pieces, one fitting into the other. The base was just made from a slab and a coil or two.
A new birth of wood and flesh.
Is it a new beginning or the same as before in a new skin?
I’m not too sure but personally I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt.
Shot of me in my satyr costume, made a few years ago for a Purgatory mythical creatures show down in the Charlotte. This time, I was wearing it for Halloween again, and once again I was given a horrible headache from the tightness of the horns on my head.
They were horribly crooked this year but they were a bastard to get rigged up as well. The last two methods used to keep them up didn't work. :(
her sculpy torso is in the shape of a mid 19th century corset that squished the boobies. I did not build a corset over it, just a tight bodice.
Some artist teachers like George Stewart would frown on this calling it not authentic, and i see his point. One day i will follow his process, but Zen was made rather quickly as i tried out some new techniques i wanted to experiment with.
My friend Bryan & I placed "Sculpy" (the sculpture I made) in the K-State Union parking lot at 3 a.m. one day, unapproved and unsolicited. It remained for a couple years.
Here, my dad and brother and I finally take Sculpy down, as they're building a new parking garage on the premises.
