When Jesus rose from the dead, he could have appeared first to anyone he chose. John, his best friend; Peter, the leader of his disciples; and any number of other candidates were available to his providential will. He chose Mary Magdalene, “from whom seven demons had gone out” (Luke 8:2), who then became the first evangelist of Easter (John 20:11–18).
When Paul began his ministry in Europe, his first convert was Lydia (Acts 16:11–15), who later hosted the church that began meeting in her home (v. 40). The apostle partnered with “Priscilla and Aquila” (Acts 18:18; Romans 16:3; 2 Timothy 4:19; note that the wife is listed before her husband).
Women play some of the leading roles in God’s word, from the women who spared Moses (Exodus 2:1–10); to Esther, who saved her people from genocide; to Deborah, who led her nation as a judge, prophetess, military commander; to prophetesses Miriam (Exodus 15:20), Huldah (2 Kings 22:14), Noadiah (Nehemiah 6:14), and Anna (Luke 2:36).
None of them could have known the ultimate significance of their faithfulness to God’s word and calling. Nor can we when we choose to answer our Father’s call to ministry. But our Lord does. -

“What kind of fasting is pleasing to God? Fasting can be done for a variety of reasons - to gain freedom from some bad habit, addiction, or vice, to share in the suffering of those who go without, or to grow in our hunger for God and for the things of heaven. Basil the Great wrote: "Take heed that you do not make fasting to consists only in abstinence from meats. True fasting is to refrain from vice. Shred to pieces all your unjust contracts. Pardon your neighbors. Forgive them their trespasses." Do you hunger to know God more, to grow in HIS holiness, and to live the abundant life of grace HE offers you?”

Dear friend, here are 5 things you should know:

Have you ever noticed how many people around you are carrying a bottle of water?
We cannot go for more than a couple of hours without satisfying our thirst. In fact, we would die in a matter of days if we couldn't quench that need. In the first reading today, the Jewish people were desperate for water. Then God gave them water from the rock.
Like the woman at the well in today's Gospel, we try every kind of water under the sun to satisfy our thirst. Later in life, we recognize that it's far more than physical thirst—it's thirst for happiness, satisfaction, peace of mind. Sometimes we "get it right," but often we look for the wrong kind of water, and we look for it in the wrong places. We often spend all kinds of money and waste a lot of time, looking for something to quench our thirsts.
Jesus offers us the spiritual water that really satisfies. He is offering us what He offered the Samaritan woman—water far superior to anything she had ever tasted or ever dreamed of. Certainly her five husbands (plus her newest lover) hadn't brought her what she was really looking for. We know that she had tried cheap love, and we presume she was no stranger to intoxication, power, and money! This isn't a gentle lady who comes to draw water from the well, but a toughened cynic. No wonder she is rude to this travel-dusty Jew, whom she is sure will avoid her with downcast eyes. Jews despised Samaritans who worshipped in the wrong church. But Jesus doesn't follow the accepted prejudice!
What a surprise, when Jesus, tired, hungry and thirsty, asks her for a drink of water. He breaks all the rules in speaking to her. Now, He keeps on talking, ignoring her hostility, aware that, in this unexpected encounter, the Father has provided Him with an opportunity for piercing the heart of this sinful woman with His love. Jesus forgets His own needs, and offers this woman living water, spiritual grace. Incredible! Even when He confronts her with her sins, she shows humility. When Jesus reveals to her that He is the Messiah, she drops her bucket and runs back to spread the good news. "I've found the Messiah!" And she had!
Lent is a time for us to let Jesus satisfy our thirst. Like the Samaritan woman, we find real joy and satisfaction in letting the Lord fill us with the grace of the season. Like her, we find that our joy is greatest when we share that gift with others—joining in a study or prayer-group, in visiting a nursing home, in being patient with our family members, and really listening to them, in praying from the heart in a quiet place, in reflecting on the Word privately or at daily Mass, and letting the Eucharist change us into the Body of Christ.
The Samaritan woman never did give Jesus a drink of water as He had requested. Do we stop to realize that Jesus' thirst for our love is even greater than our thirst for His love? I guess only saints understand that. It's what gives them the energy to pour themselves out in ministry up to their last breath.
Next Sunday, Lent will be half over. A question: "Are you satisfied with what you have done so far to let Jesus into your life?" Check out your prayer, your penance, your almsgiving. What are you planning for the remainder of Lent? It's all about quenching your thirst for life—to shun the type of thirst-quencher that doesn't really satisfy, and to earnestly beg Jesus to give you His living water.

{ Gratitude Day 16 : God }
When I was 17, I found God. I was depressed and had no where to turn, but I was brought to God's Word... which saved me from myself. I am forever THANKFUL for something that is beyond my understanding. Without Him I am nothing.
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. ~Philippians 4:13
Psalm 39:4,5 NKJV " LORD, make me to know my end, And what is the measure of my days, That I may know how frail I am. Indeed, You have made my days as handbreaths, And my age is as nothing before you; Certainly every man at his best state is but vapor."
Psalm 90:12 " So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom."

Life moves fast, and we are only here for a little while. We are not promised tomorrow, or even the next hour. We must walk wisely while here on earth. Oftentimes we take our days for granted until we lose a loved one, or we have some near-death experience for ourselves. It is in those moments of self-examination that we should ask ourselves some questions.
First and most important is : Have I truly surrendered my life to Christ? Have I trusted Jesus as my Lord and savior? Does my relationship with Christ hold top priority, or do I let other things get in the way?
Then we may ask: Who or what do I let influence my thoughts and actions in a day? Do I spend more time on social media reading the world's opinion, or do I spend time reading God's word looking for wisdom? There are plenty of people willing to voice their opinion on any given topic, And we need the help of the Holy Spirit to discern the good from the bad.
Finally we ask ourselves: Who am I influencing with my thoughts and actions? We have a lot of eyes and ears on us everyday of our lives. Our actions at home will influence our spouse, children, or siblings. When at work we will influence co-workers and customers with our language, and actions. At school, we may influence staff, and our friends. When we meet perfect strangers in public, in the grocery store, or the big box stores, our behavior and our words can make an impression on anyone there. We could be viewed as angry, impatient, complaining, always finding fault in everything. Or we could be viewed as patient, compassionate, always willing to help when possible, tough, but loving, and understanding.
We don't know how much time we have on earth, But we do know it is limited.
{ James 4:14} " Whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away." ------------ I say; Life is short, Walk wisely!

Importance of conch (shankh) as per scriptures Shankh naad
First of all let us se the importance of shankh. According to our ancient scriptuires that is Puranas, the shankh was originated during the Churning of ocean by the Deities and Lord Vishnu held it in the form of weapon. As per a holy verse which is regularly chanted during the puja ritual it is mentioned that by the command of Lord Vishnu the deities Moon, Sun and Varun are stationed at the base of the shankh, the deity Prajapati on its surface and all the places of pilgrimage like Ganga and Saraswati in its front portion. Yet another speciality of shankh is that the vibrations emanating on blowing it destroys the disease causing germs in the atmosphere. That is the reason it has a important place in Ayurved and medicine.
Effect of energy emitted from blowing of shankh
As soon as the shankh is blown the frequencies of divine energy (shakti) are emitted into atmosphere due to sound generated. These energy frequencies are seen in red colour. Along with these energy frequencies yellow circles of chaitanya are also projected in the atmosphere. You can also see the pink particles of Bliss being emitted in the atmosphere. This increases the proportion of shakti (energy), chaitanya and anand in the environment and that is why the negative energies get distressed and run away.
Thus it has become clear to us the importance of blowing shankh during puja ritual. The blowing of shankh makes the atmosphere holy and pure and conducive for the spiritual practice (sadhana) of the individual. Thus it becomes easier for an individual to receive maximum sattvik frequencies emanating from the deities.

Heirs with Christ

Future Glory

God's Everlasting Love

The chief issue in discussions about abortion concerns the identity of the fetus. People who argue for the right of a woman to have an abortion—“It’s my own body; I can do with it as I please”—usually argue that the fetus is not yet a person, but is only a part of the woman’s body, like a gallbladder or appendix that she can elect to have removed. That is why language describing the unborn child has changed so radically. A generation ago everyone referred to the unborn child as a baby, and pregnant women knew they were carrying a baby. It is hard for anyone to think calmly about killing a baby. So today people talk about the fetus or the embryo or even mere “tissue” instead. To get rid of tissue doesn’t seem so bad. But this is not the way the Bible speaks of the unborn child
