A beautiful promise in scripture of God putting an end to hurt and destruction. "They shall not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain; for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea." Isaiah 11:9

His praise shall continue to be in my mouth ... whether I feel like a sinner or saint ... when I have abundance or when I have need ... whether it is raining or sunny, windy or calm, snowing or hot ... when I am being attacked or when I am safe ... I will sing to the LORD and dance day or night ... I will praise my Creator and Savior! Let us sing to our Father, let us sing to His Son, let us sing to His Spirit!!! Hallelujah!!!
Psalms 149 and 150 inspired today's thought ... Praise His name forever!
There’s a man who walks around my campus with a sign. It’s a sign that many of us don’t understand and might seem a little harsh and judgemental-- it’s a sign that I take one glance at and write it off as a hateful, religious, and full of non-sense. Deep down inside, I judge these people who hold up these signs. Deep down inside, I call them hypocrites who don’t really know jesus. Today, I’m sorry that I’ve had these thoughts, even if I didn’t verbalize it. Today, I’m sorry for thinking that I am right, they are wrong; I know justice, they don’t; I know love, they don’t.
Today, I met the man who holds up these signs around my campus. His name is Monte. When I approached him, I was expecting him to be a grumpy old man, ready to bark at me and tell me to go away. I already had my preconceived notions of him, which is why I was surprised when I met a man who smiled and openly shared his story.
Monte grew up in a non-religious household. His grandma had 12 children and his mother was a middle child. It was a tough childhood for Monte, but he always had his grandma’s love. His grandma would always recite bible verses for him and give him toys with scriptures on them. It wasn’t until Monte’s college days when he first experienced the love of God. He described it as:
“I felt peace and joy-- it was incredible and I knew that God was real.”
From that point, Monte dedicated his life to God. He told himself that he would commit his life to deepening his relationship with God. One event lead to another and he discovered himself dropping out of college to travel the country and let God lead his life. His friend gave him a tiny bible, which Monte would carry with him throughout all his adventures.
“The Bible, it came alive to me. I read it and I read it as I hitch hiked all day, and miracles would happen-- everything I needed was provided”.
He continued to tell me more.
“I am shy person. When I first started doing this, I was nervous. God told me to sing, you know, to break the ice and all. So I would start off singing softly ‘Jesus loves me this I know...’ Instantly, the spirit would fill me and I would shoot my arms up and sing louder. God works that way and he can change you for good. God told me I don’t need to please men because I am made to please God. My signs are bold, but that’s because I want to grab their attention. People need to know the truth, and that is God’s love.”
I felt inspired by this man. I could see it in his eyes and by the way he smiles when he talks, that Monte is a man who genuinely loves God. I felt moved to pray for him, so I asked him if I could. He seemed very happy that I asked and he joyfully nodded.
Thank you Monte, you have become Stranger #111 in my on-going stranger project.

Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD.
Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.

The Guru Granth Sahib is the Sikh scripture and, in my opinion, is just beautiful. Part of it is just the Punjabi script I suppose, but regardless it really is a work of art and is protected as such. This is very different than the usual Hindu religious text (there are no Hindu scriptures, per say) which usually are very worn down since they are used so much by the priest for a variety of things.

BIBLICAL CONTEXT: Acts 12:18-24
(from biblegateway.com)
18 In the morning, there was no small commotion among the soldiers as to what had become of Peter. 19 After Herod had a thorough search made for him and did not find him, he cross-examined the guards and ordered that they be executed.
Herod’s Death
Then Herod went from Judea to Caesarea and stayed there. 20 He had been quarreling with the people of Tyre and Sidon; they now joined together and sought an audience with him. After securing the support of Blastus, a trusted personal servant of the king, they asked for peace, because they depended on the king’s country for their food supply.
21 On the appointed day Herod, wearing his royal robes, sat on his throne and delivered a public address to the people. 22 They shouted, “This is the voice of a god, not of a man.” 23 Immediately, because Herod did not give praise to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died.
24 But the word of God continued to spread and flourish.

5 MORE THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW:
1. Like it or not, we are ALL sinners: As the Scriptures say, “No one is righteous—not even one. No one is truly wise; no one is seeking God. All have turned away; all have become useless. No one does good, not a single one.” (Romans 3:10-12 NLT)
2. The punishment for sin is death: When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. (Romans 5:12 NLT)
3. Jesus is our only hope: But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. (Romans 5:8 NLT) For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23 NLT)
4. SALVATION is by GRACE through FAITH in JESUS: God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. (Ephesians 2:8-10 NLT)
5. Accept Jesus and receive eternal life: If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9 NLT) But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. (John 1:12 NLT) And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life. (1 John 5:11-12 NLT)

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.

Happy Easter!
"On the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala came to the tomb early in the morning, while it was still dark, and saw the stone removed from the tomb. So she ran and went to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and told them, "They have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we don't know where they have put him." So Peter and the other disciple went out and came to the tomb. They both ran, but the other disciple ran faster than Peter and arrived at the tomb first; he bent down and saw the burial cloths there, but did not go in. When Simon Peter arrived after him, he went into the tomb and saw the burial cloths there, and the cloth that had covered his head, not with the burial cloths but rolled up in a separate place. Then the other disciple also went in the one who had arrived at the tomb first, and he saw and believed. For they did not yet understand the Scripture that he had to rise from the dead."

The cover for our bulletin. Preaching on transformation as a church and examining ourselves and always staying focused.
Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

This is the Bible my grandparents gave me when I was 9. It's King James Version. I needed a shot like this for my newsletter so decided to create my own rather than search for one.
I do not think I have ever seen a morning sky quite as vivid as this morning from our bedroom window.
The sun was just about to rise. The sky appeared as though someone had draped curtains across it and were pulling them back.
Matthew 16 2-3
He replied, "When evening comes, you say, 'It will be fair weather, for the sky is red,'and in the morning, 'Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.' You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times.

Copies of the holy scriptures are found in most monastaries.
They say you can gain knowledge by crawling in the space underneath the bokshelves. Some of the wisdom of all the books above you will then come to you. How I wish it worked the same way with my French grammar book. I seem to have gained no knowledge by sleeping with that book over my face. ;-)
