This photograph reminds me of my friend Donald whose girlfriend threatened to beat me up which is how she and I became good friends and led to my nickname of "Peep". Still, it was always Donald I really felt like I was friends with and when we all lost touch it was him that I worried about. Lost touch again and I just worry.
Espresso, smoke breaks, foggy Mill Valley mornings with Robin Williams ordering some ordinary latte and we all pretended it was the usual. We played music and we worked with the sweat of the underpaid and overworked and I loved every minute of it for the first year. Donald was my manager and I was his soldier, though perhaps he never knew it, I'd have exploded the espresso machine if he'd commanded me to, but we sought order and a tight machine of efficiency in an atmosphere of entitlement, rock stars, politicians, and news anchors.
We were proud cogs in the daily shift of life.
I was a lieutenant and I steamed the dishes, scalded my hands, layered drinks, and delivered the kind of complicated beverages that only a privileged society can concoct with pomp and grace. I took pride in my small offices.
I met my husband in the coffee trenches.
I believe Donald will drift indefinitely and there will be short glimpses and brief exposures in which I'll think of his slick black hair, his pale skin, that cigarette hanging out the side of his mouth, exactly like mine, and he'll turn heads without knowing it, and his poetry will be flavored with drums and Ginsberg and obscure bright intelligence.
I'll always light his cigarette for him but I'll never follow his discourse nor know if I could have been his best friend if I'd been a man.
I'm most assuredly not a man.
Unfortunately, millions of pet owners have an allergy to their animals and still love them.
Allergies to pets with fur /feathers are common but you have way too much hair.
I don’t want to developed allergies to asthma, so Chow, I know you are unique breed; therefore you can only be my dream dog.
Got a little carried away with this one, probably my least favourite if I'm honest.

Here is a close-up of my 30"x30" panel "Scratchy 78" for the Hustle 2 show tomorrrow night here in KC. Made of chipboard, paper, spray paint and foamcore.
This scratchy polaroid is of me and Mark on our way to the Stretham Christmas Disco. With the wonders of photoshop I can finally see the picture (the polaroid came out too dark originally).

Xi Lan had some major itchies this afternoon!
So did his mom as Lun was busy scratching her itch in the teepee room as da X-Man was scratching in the hammock room!
As part of Memespelunk Revival, I've brought Scratchy Night back to life.
Scratchy Night portrays a nocturnal world alight with star-shaped scratches, all akilter. An installation inspired by Vincent Van Gogh, Elros Tuominen and my 9 y.o. son. One eared Van Gogh for his Starry Night (always worth a look.) The jolly basque SL sculptor Elros for his impressive "inside road to ovetum" ( a tip of the hat.) And my struggling artist kid for his invention of scratch through black and color crayon drawings (clever lad.) Also as always sounds so turn up your volume. Music was partially sampled from the band Animal Collective.
To view this large immersive space: fly up into the sphere and move around within. Be sure to have your volume turned on to enjoy the ambient sound. Music resampled from the music of Animal Collective.
