Prop spinner is turned aluminium in 3 parts. Spindly undercarriage gives it an insect like look. Necessary to allow those huge props to clear the ground. U/C legs are all metal enhanced with tiny metal parts recycled from computer plugs and circuit boards.

Setting the prop shaft into the fuselage with Milliput. The spinner rests on a lump of blu-tac to allow micro adjustement as it set overnight. Cockpit top half in place to provide location. I had to make a plug out of car body filler to heat form the canopy parts. Took many attempts to get 2 to match.

Scratchbuild locoshed, 1 track

No 16 of my big scratchbuilds. The GrossTraktor was the first, in 1994

A fun scratchbuilding project, more of which can be found on my RMWeb workbench thread

Inner wing extensions were 3mm polystyrene with car body filler to shape. Turret rings, undercarriage bay and exhaust slots are from brass. The kit wings had their u/c bays filled with milliput. New bays were made inboard.

To avoid a tailsitter the whole of the forward fuselage is a massive sausage roll of strip roofing lead. The True Details MG151's were ordered from Hannants before work started so I could make the dorsal tray. Again from soldered brass sheet.

The propellers look enormous but are to scale from the drawing. Actually Quickboost resin parts for a 1/48th scale P-38.

Another proposal had seperate tear drop hoods rising above the cockpit for the pilot and Navigator. Also an armoured annular radiator around the fuselage just behind the cockpit. Alas no drawings.

The sensor head is on a long extendable neck.

A nice scratchbuild.

Build progress on the Narcissus Shuttle - 1:18 scale - ALIEN 79. Finally an update huh?! It's all about the storage doors...had to do some major updates to the doors after finding some reference material that gave me a better look at the doors details. Rewoked the door handles and the door's interiors. Also it's my first time building door hinges! Hinges work great, although not permanently attached at this time while there's so much more building to be done . The two small tabs venturing off the side of the door has small magnets to hold the door close. More updates to come! ‪#‎alien‬ ‪#‎narcissus‬ ‪#‎shuttle‬ ‪#‎nostromo‬ ‪#‎diorama‬ ‪#‎scratchbuilding‬ ‪#‎ripley‬

Scratch build WIP. I see it as an atmospheric Lunadiver Stingray (which is a space craft). I'm stumped for names though, if anyone has suggestions?

Build update on the MU/TH/UR 6000 "MOTHER" Chamber for the Nostromo - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Rough images but they show the interior frame build (walls) is complete and I'm beginning to work on the ceiling. The flower-like design will be attached to clear acrylic so natural light can pass through. The ceiling you see in this image will drop much further down. More to come! :) ‪#‎alien‬ ‪#‎nostromo‬ ‪#‎MUTHUR6000‬ ‪#‎scratchbuild‬ ‪#‎modelbuild‬ ‪#‎diorama‬

3D printing, eh? I think this still has a ways left to go before it's my jam. I'd rather scratchbuild this part.

Build progress of the Narcissus Shuttle - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. So much progress but still only scratched the surface. Worked primarily on the wall panel for "The Stowaway", building the details around the slumbering beast. A mix of scratch building using styrene sheet, sculpting using a two part epoxy and casting replication. Nothing is finalized of course, even the side tanks are held in place using some wax clay...I need to construct t a rack. So much more to go. I may begin building the framework leading to the supply closets and the airlock before moving onto the next project in progress (figure sculpting). Hope you enjoy the progress so far! More to come! ‪#‎alien‬ ‪#‎narcissus‬ ‪#‎shuttle‬ ‪#‎diorama‬ ‪#‎scratchbuilding‬ ‪#‎sculpting‬ ‪#‎art‬ ‪#‎giger‬ ‪#‎aliens‬

A miniature I painted some time ago.

Based on an old Bandai toy kit. Macross rules!

This is based on a couple things; 'the Venus Wars' anime and a Japanese model online-series 'JunkTankRock'. Some pretty cool ideas in there. Parts in here are from a 1/72 plane (forgot which), a 1/35 Hummer (wheel), and Tamiya's 1/35 JSDGF recon bike. Another project sitting around, waiting for some free time and scratchbuilding.

Just a couple of weeks from sea trials, my little scratchbuilt Norwegian passenger ship is starting to look the part.

I assembled all the major components that have been started so far to test the fit (so far so good), and I thought I'd share. Skinning the hull has been a huge exercise in patience - I would have done it differently in hindsight.

A Demon Prince must be suitably big to ensure a proper, dramatic entrance in any battleboard!

This is my scratchbuild I.N.S.S. MacArthur, a spacecraft from the Larry Niven / Jerry Pournelle book "The Mote in God's Eye". It was signed by Larry Niven when I brought it to a convention.

bang seats were donored by an RF-4C kit.

This kit is an early offering from Hasegawa (C series) with raised panel lines and all the flaws that goes with it. Our local scale modeling club had a "3-tone camouflage" bi-monthly challenge. This is one of the entries.

I put in a lot of time and effort to upgrade the looks of the old kit. this includes re scribing some of the panel lines, creating a new front wheel strut, reshaping the nose, posing the canopies open, cutting out the air breaks et cetera. a donor ejection was obtained from an Hasegawa RF-4C.

If the room looks like a tip it's because the livingroom was the only place big enough to build the thing!

This is a good shot of the zero-G dock too. That part lights up as well!

Gerry Leone notes this industrial area includes "Gee's Potato Chips" - a tribute to "Jay's Potato Chips", which were a favorite Chicago brand when he was growing up.

Appropriately enough, "Westcott Salvage" was built almost entirely from bits and pieces salvaged from other projects.

Gerry is our guest on Episode 32.

My first experience with using Sintra, aka palight, for model railroad work. I haven't named this business yet, but I'm aiming for a parged/stucco masonry (concrete block) type structure. Tichy windows will be installed once major finishing is complete.
