I am happy that the profile matches the sideview in Dieter Herwig and Heinz Rode's book Luftwaffe Secret Projects. Ground Attack and Special purpose aircraft page 110 -111

Timbertracks Signal Box built similar to St Erth for a 1980s/1990s look.

Lots of scratchbuilding details such as guttering, pipes etc. full interior added using severn models etches and 3d prints from ebay.

Tried to get some ok looking lighting and spoke to a signalman who informed me that he liked to only have a small lamp on when working at night. So this box has two functions - full illumination and desk light only.

Lots to finish off.... like point rodding!

Project scratchbuild !

This is a new venture for me one that i have given a lot of thought..Scratch building , allthough ive put together a little minibus just to get the feel of things..

Working only from 6/4 photographs i have come up with this plan, a 1/76s Northern Counties Dennis Dominator ( SYPTE 2311 - 2320 A3.. XAK ).

A rough outline is seen here and although im " a beginner " it may go my way it may not on the other hand ?

Im using Slaters 30thou plastercad

1/20th full scratchbuild based on a scrap hoover. The other half was used for the Schwebefestung. The 'Geist is a hover truck with a suit recovery crane and a basic workshop inside the hull .

The Falcon in the background is a project that will be added to the list for my Rennies fleet. This is a metal and card model built by Alan Johnston. In the foreground is a Leyland Fleetline, built to a lower height entirely from plasticard. The builder's initials - FJC - appear on the base, but I have no idea who FJC is / was. It never got finished; indeed, the entire offside is still white. It has been 'claimed' by someone who has grand plans for it, and the cash from its sale will be re-invested in models for my Rennies fleet.

Needs another coat of yellow, and my cobbled together wheel/tire assemblies are a little shady, but still, fun from the scrapbox!

Although I do not longer play W40K, I always have been a sucker for the Ultramarines chapter.

When I bought the Marneus Calgar miniature from the old Rogue Trader era , I discovered that "Ultramarine" no longer meant cool.

That was REALLY shocking.

However, Ultramarines do not admit defeat, so I turned it into a joke diorama.

The diorama is quite old, but it is still very popular among my friends. ^_^

This is probably the best showcase for the chipping on the model. Really pleased with how the two-toned chipping came out.

I was approached by 5 Wits Attractions to design and build a custom version 3 dimensional model of the classic nautilus submarine featured in Jules Verne's 20,000 Leagues under the sea, to be displayed in the museum of their interactive attraction. The design would incorporate interactive lighting and would be approximately 4 feet long.

I wanted to keep with a more organic and streamlined shape though with a bit more grounded in reality design for a submarine. In the original story Verne's description of the sub was more like a Narwhal whale, as such I had always envisioned it to be more like a whale shark. I believed this design would be able to better camouflage into the ocean, while being a perfect design for ramming ships with it's dorsal fin.

My only limitations with this design were the placement of the windows, diving bell and latches which had to mimic the placement in the already built attraction at 5 Wits. The model was scratch built using foam, Worbla, resin, wood, and plastic and is lit by LEDs.

Here is a scratchbuild by me of a 9.4m wright cadet for the crossways fleet. It is awaiting fleet logos and will be used on a new haresfield, stroud and gloucester service. It looks much better in the flesh I must say! The story is that it was bought new and then stored until 2009, so instead of a 55 plate we really have a 59 plate here for the price of a 55 plate making it a bargain! Better than my first half hearted attempt but still not all the way there...

The build is a combination of resin cab kit supplied by Modellers Resource and a scratchbuilt chassis and box van body, working to plans drawn up from old Commer brochures and spec sheets to guide to the construction.

Proposed powerplant was to be the Daimler Benz DB613 C/D. projected speed 447mph at 29.530ft. additional power to be gained by adding Argus pulsejets- similar , I imagine to those on the V1 Flying bomb. Underwing fit I guess but alas no drawings.

Build update to the MU/TH/UR 6000 chamber or "Mother" to the Nostromo crew - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale scratch build. Frame is primarily complete, with some additional structural pieces to be added, I'm ready to begin detail...panel by panel, square by tiny square. Also need some sculpting details to the portal. Talk about a test of patience.....oh well, I made this bed so I might as well sleep in it! LOL! - I'm actually going to begin work on the chair first, then a few panels...the I'm back at working on figures...I got some new ideas I will be sharing shortly as well as returning to some other, unfinished pieces that require my attention. Need to shuffle the deck every once in awhile. ‪#‎alien‬ ‪#‎nostromo‬ ‪#‎MUTHUR6000‬ ‪#‎diorama‬ ‪#‎scratchbuild‬ ‪#‎aliens‬ ‪#‎weylandyutani‬

Two scratchbuilds here, the PMT Knype has now been sprayed white andd is ready for red and other little bits and pieces and work on the interior is ongoing.

The other, the front panel, is for another midibus for the fleet...it's quite obvious what it is but I'll let others have a guess ;-)

Most of the decals I used came from Maschinen Kreiger kits originally.

The cockpit and the prop shaft were a nightmare to make and get all in line. The canopy was made in top and bottom halves. Framing is painted transfers. Prop blades are 1/48th scale P38 by Quickboost. Homespun spinner.

Roger Hey Scratchbuild model

Notes: Roger's excellent work tarted up with tinted screens, mirrors, wipers etc and mostly home made transfers.

Depicted on M4 Corridor 040 London - Bristol service as operated by Edwards (Bristol) WPK is named 'John' after a work colleague who has been with NX for over 30 years.

Actually, the inspiration for this figure came from Darkness, the evil antagonist from the "Legend" 1985 film.

Buuuut... in the end he turned into Angron, the fallen primarch of the World Eaters, and now most mighty Demon Prince of Khorne.

The miniature itself is commercial (with the exception of the wings). I bought it in a small hobby store long time ago.

However, I am completely unable to recall its manufacturer. I would greatly appreciate any hint you can provide about him!! ^_^

Build progress of the Narcissus Shuttle - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. So much progress but still only scratched the surface. Worked primarily on the wall panel for "The Stowaway", building the details around the slumbering beast. A mix of scratch building using styrene sheet, sculpting using a two part epoxy and casting replication. Nothing is finalized of course, even the side tanks are held in place using some wax clay...I need to construct t a rack. So much more to go. I may begin building the framework leading to the supply closets and the airlock before moving onto the next project in progress (figure sculpting). Hope you enjoy the progress so far! Build update on the MU/TH/UR 6000 chamber - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. Finally right? Took me long enough for an update!

Finished the detailing of the wall panels.....will NOT try to do that again anytime soon!!! Happy that stage is complete. Have begun sculpting the door frame and interior padding details. Sculpting with Aves FIXIT. Fiber Optics will come later as I plan to return to figure sculpting once the door framing is complete. #alien #MUTHUR6000 #weylandyutani #nostromo #diorama #scratchbuilding

Lego Star Wars Space Tug with Barge and Payload

After presenting you first my Space Tug inspired by a scratchbuild by Adam Alpern aka @monsterpartywars, and my Front Loader, this is the final MOC with Barge and Payload!

As always, my MOCs cannot be small 😭, so one thing lead to another, and I ended up adding the Lego UCS AT-AT as payload.

The whole ship is made by the SoroSuub Corporation from Sullust. Again, this one is fictitious and non Canon.

Go and check out Adam's designs here on Flickr or on Instagram. His models in 1:144 scale are amazing!

Measurements

Length: 81.5 cm / 32.1 inch

Width: 24.0 cm / 9.4 inch

Height: 26.5 cm / 10.4 inch

Or:

Length: 102 studs

Width: 30 studs

Height: 33 studs

SHIPtember 2023

BTW - I just noticed, these 102 studs qualifies it to be part of SHIPtember 🎉, so I will be adding this to the group in a minute.

Wishing you all a great weekend 👍!

Based on the record breaking Heinkel He 119 the Waffenigel was designed as a Heavy escort fighter or 'Kampfzerstorer'

Added some spice tanks and filled in the nurnie pit on top. I may have got the nurnies the wrong way around, which will mean covering up or removing the nice grill to make more space for the cockpit.

1/72 scale complete scratchbuild

To experiment with some new techniques, I am constructing the facade of a fictional shed. The front consists of wooden boards.

A. I start off by cutting 5mm strips out of a sheet of basswood with a thickness of 0.5mm. Basswood is stronger than the more common balsa wood.

B. Chop these strips to the desired width. I use a chopper to achieve exact lengths.

C. To simulate the knots I randomly drill some holes with a diameter of 0.75mm, 1.5mm and 1.6mm. The larger diameters are filled with slices from a toothpick.

D. I use a knife and a scratch pin to distress the wood. Afterwards I soften and blend the scoring with a steel brush. The steel brush also emphasizes the wood grain. It is important to follow the direction of the grain. Finally I remove the fuzz with some P1000 sandpaper.

E. As a first step in the coloring of the wood, I apply two layers of a water based stain to achieve a base color.

F. In a next step, I apply weathering powders to build up the color. I create a blend by using brown, grey and rust colored powders. With a brush and some aceton the powders are blended and color the wooden planks. It is important to use a small amount of powders. After all the base color and the wood grain should still be visible.

Build update on the MU/TH/UR 6000 or "Mother" Command Console Chair - 1:18 scale. Adding more detail, have plenty of sanding and some filling to do. Also some repairs to the chair itself but wanted to show some progress. The front half plugs directly to the chair via the arm rests. Very stable and balanced :) More to come! #alien #nostromo #MUTHUR6000 #weylandyutani #diorama

SoroSuub Corporation Front Loader MOC

This is a second iteration on the original 'Space Tug' scratch build by Adam Alpern aka @monsterpartywars. This Front Loader is developed to load a Barge which is pushed by the Space Tug.

The front section is partly inspired by the Front Loader concept design by Eduard Pronin, and the Hover Loader design of Hanzhong Wang. Last but not least, I chose yellow to give it a bit of an Alien P-5000 Power Loader feeling 😊.

I am very happy with the result and named it the ‘SoroSuub Front Loader’. SoroSuub Corporation was a Sullust-based company which developed and manufactured a great variety of technological goods, from droids and sensors to weapons and vehicles.

I decided this would be the perfect, fictitious and non Canon, manufacturer of the Front Loader 😉.

Go and check out Adam's designs here on Flickr or on Instagram. His models in 1:144 scale are amazing!

Another test fit after the forward hull is nearly completely skinned. Now it is time to make a lot of styrene dust.

ZEUS - Imperial Guard Battle Fortress

Scratchbuild

June 2008 - March 2009

Did some updates to my model of the 1832 locomotive "South Carolina". I discovered an Engineer's Report from April 1832 which mentioned the locomotives "side platforms". So I've added side platforms to my model. No dimensions are known, so I just went with what looked about right.

Added some spice tanks and filled in the nurnie pit on top. I may have got the nurnies the wrong way around, which will mean covering up or removing the nice grill to make more space for the cockpit.

Build update on the Command Console Chair for the MU/TH/UR 6000 chamber - Nostromo - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale. I already had some chairs made for other parts of the ship so I just whittled down a copy using a dremel and began sculpting new upholstry to the seat using Aves FIXIT sculpt. Also began building the front section from sheet styrene. A little at a time....more to come. ‪#‎alien‬ ‪#‎MUTHUR6000‬ ‪#‎weylandyutani‬ ‪#‎diorama‬ ‪#‎scratchbuilding‬ ‪#‎avesstudio‬ ‪#‎avesfixit‬

EFE's Leyland Titan requires very little doing to it to make it look good. I have always felt the bonnet line is a little low, so this job started as a simple rectification job. All I intended to do was cut out the existing bonnet structure and replace it, slightly higher up, with a white metal one . What I have ended up doing is a little more drastic. The front bulkhead and cab nearside have been re-made in plastic sheet, the nearside headlamp has been replaced with a white metal one, and the radiator has been replaced with one wiich originally graced an EFE Weymann Orion-bodied Leyland Titan. So far, so good.

However, it's funny how you notice other things as you go along. The base model for this job is one of those Leyland Titan PD1s in Salford Corporation green livery, you know, the one with the incorrect seating unit (lowbridge style) in the upper deck. In replacing it with a correct centre-gangway unit off an EFE Guy utility double decker, I had to create a new upper deck floor out of plastic sheet to get the Guy seating unit to sit at the correct height. Then I drilled and filed out a destination aperture at the front, and a rear lower deck bulkhead window. I also opened-up the understairs luggage area with the aid of a hacksaw, and filed off the roof ventilators as my prototype has different versions, which I have modelled using plastic offcuts.

There is still a lot to do on this one, most notably the glazing, but that will wait until the model is painted. Then there is the detailing. What will it be? United Welsh Services no.969 (GAA179), which was new to Hants & Sussex in 1947, and passed to UW in 1949.
