A gentle snow falls, as the extra E-79 west rumbles by the station at Ellie on this fine winter's afternoon.
Saturday Night in the workshop rigging the Clipper Model "Young America" while listening to Miles Davis "Kinda Blue".
Still working on this. Dug it out last night and put a little more time in this truck. Started this build over a year ago. Still not quite there, but closing on the finish line. Liking it so far.

Autumn 2015
Some progress since the last shot. The upper deck is now joined together at roof level by virtue of a full length rectangle of plastic card Araldited into the underside - which you can just make out in the photo. I have removed all bar one of the lower deck window pillars and started to cut out and file the windows in the new plastic rear end. The drivers door aperture is now fully filed out so I can create a sliding door (not operational I hasten to add!).
Next job is the window pillars which need to go in, and then probably the front passenger doors. In the meantime I might have a shot at making up a seating set from the units in the donor models.
Rear shot of same model showing how the plastic rear end sits quite nicely up against the remaining metal structure, aided by copious application of Araldite.
Milwaukee Road EF4, E79 east, leads it's train out of the bore on dad's Rocky Mountain Division. This is the last shot of this cool weekend for a while. Keep The Milwaukee Road alive in your hearts and modeling. It's time to get started on another G scale EF4.

Autumn 2015
Last weekend I finished sculpting the first wall of my new MiniMates city scene. I am going all out with details on this one. Next up is wall 2 with a fire escape.
Last year around this time I took a stab at modding the AC8 into the various configurations the XM8 modular weapon system is capable of. Success was... mixed. You couldn't buy tan AC8s then. I kinda mangled the compact carbine when I tried using my Dremel to make the duckbill-style flash suppressor. The Brickarms M203 U-clipped to an AC8 made an acceptable stand-in for the XM320 grenade launcher you can attach to the XM8. And of course the LMG variant came out quite well, though I had to scratchbuild the C-mag--which was a real pain.
Fortunately, Tiny Tactical now makes a C-mag accessory for Brickarms, along with a G36-style side-loading grenade launcher that looks exactly like the XM320. This time the only major surgery I had to do was replacing the barrel on the LMG. I made some minor modifications to the grenade launcher and hinged it with a paper clip--it actually does swing out like it would when you're loading it. This time I did the flash suppressor notch on the compact with a razor saw, and widened and smoothed it with sandpaper. And of course both scopes got the "gemstone" treatment, which I thought came out really nicely.
No, I'm probably not going to do the DMR configuration--it would look exactly like the LMG, except without a bipod or drum mag.

C48 class 2-8-0 rolls over the St Vrain River with the Buck Wheat Local on its way to Longview. Models are Pacific Fast Mail C48 custom finished and detailed, Rails Unlimited resin kit built and finished. Scratch built bridge and module with every tie plate and rivet working miniature.
The scratchbuilt G scale Milwaukee Road Little Joe E75, ran a test train Saturday. There is a small issue with the number 7 axle which will need to be addressed. There isn't enough weight on it and it climbs the rail in the curve, only in one direction though(weird). The E75 is back on the bench for this minor thing and the finishing details before heading to the paint shop.
C&E extra E75 west, makes time over the Ellie sub on a most pleasant spring evening. This was the maiden run for the scratchbuilt Little Joe.

I upgraded the billboard to make it a little more Chicago like. If I recall correctly, this was pretty common one on Chicago's near northside in the early 2000ish.

1/72 Eurofighter Typhoon from the Revell kit, plus a little aftermarket embellishment and some scratchbuilding. Photographed with torchlight illumination and focus stacked from about 10 frames, to increase the DOF and give a better illusion of scale.

So here is the next stage in my long time project, I have extended the surrounding parameter rim and made an extended pathway to the the heart of the sci-fi dump…
Here are some links to previous stages:
Peace and Noise!

First off, let me apologize for being so far behind on viewing all of the great photos you all have been capturing.
This project started after a Thanksgiving spent at my pa's house in the north country, where we ran and photographed the G scale EF4 Little Joe, E79. We both thought how neat it would be to have a pair of Joe's out running. As soon as I returned home, a second EF4 Little Joe was started, E75. I thought it would be a good idea to show some of the stages the E75 has gone through, up to it's current state in the photo's center. 1/8" thick styrene and 1/4" acrylic are the main components to the project. From heating styrene and wrapping it around a wooden jig for the noses of the Joe, to adding roof detail are represented here. There is still a distance to go on this 1/29th scale brute, but the work gets much easier at this point, with the smaller details taking up these chilly winter days. Stay warm and stay inspired.
Designers note: I guess this project will be a work in progress (wip) kind of thing!?
(Irena) oh so this is the famous dump??? I don’t get it, what do you see in this disgusting sinkhole?
(Cray) Don’t call it a dump, if Harry was here and not late you would see a grown antique dealer cry, he sells only the finest recycled stuff
(Irena) oh the finest, eh, really whelp, really, look at this 6-revolving beam prismator, it ceramic folding is loose, the nuclear fission compressor is leaking polonium and god knows what, it is dangerous, expensive and useless all of it…
(Cray) well better than your last razzmonian date, he was dangerously ugly to the eye, cheap and spineless…
(Irena) Da!!! That is the point all Razzmonians are spineless by nature, that is why I love them, much more flexible than the vertebrae races and species!!!
CB&Q Snow Plow #205084
Just yesterday, I finished up my Burlington snow plow, that I built to represent it's early-70's BN appearance. Here, it's laying over in the yard in West Alton, IL.
The final detail to add to the car was to get my friend to help me "plant" some static grass and weed tufts in the rip rap load, to represent a late summer/early fall appearance.
A heavily Maschinen Krieger inspired kitbash from various Ma.K, Gundam, and other scifi kits, with a bit of scratchbuilding thrown in (more or less complete list in album description). I envisioned the Cassowary as a scout unit deployed by the Independent Mercenary Army to patrol wide areas of the Australian bush. The "cannon" the Cassowary's packing was indirectly inspired by a video from Polygon analyzing why the mechs in Anthem (Bioware's failed Destiny/Warframe clone) were so boring. The video posited that one way to make memorable mecha was to make them "uncomfortably sexual" (think EVAs from Evangelion, or Metal Gear REX, which also sports a crotch mounted laser). If a robot bird with a crotch mounted laser cannon that's longer than its body and thicker than its legs isn't "uncomfortably sexual", I don't know what is.

Okay, hear me out, this was a good idea in my head. This is supposed to be an East Lancs Flyte, but it ended up just being a Leyland National with the roof on backwards because that's exactly what it is. The worst part was that I used a dual door National and then had to somehow convert it to single door, which went badly.
When this eventually gets to the front of the "needs a refurb" queue, it might actually be a case of starting all over again with a fresh National (not a dual door one) and possibly scratchbuilding the top half. Though if I'm cutting the top off, it might be easier just to reuse this one?
My second scratchbuild model is now compleated, South Yorkshire PTE C108HDT is a 1985 Leyland dab or Bendibus as it was more commonly known, again ive produced it mainly from slaters plaster sheets and glazing, other items i used were white metal wheelsets / wipers ( mark huges ) and windscreen ( RTC models ).
Livery paints i used were Hycote Ford Sierra Beige for the cream and Humbrol french Blue gloss 14.
I innishally rejected building such a model when i was given the plans as i was un-easy about producing the concatina section, i searched high and low for what i could use, i did find such a material at a well known hardware store but being very costly i decided to just scratch build it myself,

SoroSuub Corporation Space Tug MOC
It started with inspiration from a scratch build by Adam Alpern aka @monsterpartywars, and I decided to take a shot at building his amazing Space Tug in Lego.
Adam was a great help, by sending me some different angles of his design, so I could build it properly 🙏.
I am very satisfied with the result and named it the ‘SoroSuub Corporation Space Tug’.
SoroSuub Corporation was a Sullust-based company which developed and manufactured a great variety of technological goods, from droids and sensors to weapons and vehicles.
I decided this would be the perfect, fictitious and non Canon, manufacturer of the Space Tug 😉.
Go and check out Adam's designs here on Flickr or on Instagram. His models in 1:144 scale are amazing!
Wishing you all a great weekend 👍!

SoroSuub Corporation Front Loader MOC
This is a second iteration on the original 'Space Tug' scratch build by Adam Alpern aka @monsterpartywars. This Front Loader is developed to load a Barge which is pushed by the Space Tug.
The front section is partly inspired by the Front Loader concept design by Eduard Pronin, and the Hover Loader design of Hanzhong Wang. Last but not least, I chose yellow to give it a bit of an Alien P-5000 Power Loader feeling 😊.

IRON SPAM - EVEN MORE INVINCIBLE!!! (NOW WITH 50% MORE IRON !!!)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After scratchbuilding Iron Zombie and Iron M & M I was thinking about assorted puns that might be fun to make on Iron Man.
Tin Cans, Iron Cans...and then, in one swell 'foop' my brain stumbled across a can of Spam.
The faceplate, arms and legs are made from Supersculpey, and the custom label I whipped up in Photoshop.
Actually, the label is very elaborate in itself, and I'll post that as well eventually.
I wanted a kitchen type setting for the background, including some stainless steel, glass and benchtop elements so I could get some nice reflected highlights. It's only lit with natural daylight and the stovehood's built in light.
I've got a couple of other ideas for this armour that I think will tickle Tony Stark's fancy!
Okay, this photoset is obviously going to attract a lot of Monty Python comments based on their famous Spam comedy sketch so for the unenlightened here's an explanatory link....
