Model railroad, G scale, Narrow gauge

Rough layout, the Xbox wont be there.

Not sure about the screen... it's a little big but it'll be good enough to start with. Will most likely have the mini facing out the side for access to the DVD drive.

First layer of olive paint, much more work needed to be done yet.

Maschinen Kreiger style scratchbuild and a work in progress

Added bearings for the suspension mounts and tow hooks.

Made a start on the engine bearers too but they need more doing.

I need to find where I've hidden my etched saws as slitting the suspension mounts will make them much better - more like three interlocking pieces than one solid chunk.

Another one of my scratchbuild projects; entirely made from styrene sheets.

90% cardborad, from redbull pack boxes.

The 1/285th scale USS Wasp scratchbuild project. Today some of the interior pieces were assembled and installed. Much detailing remains to be done

In progress; scratchbuilding a typical North Somerset styled pit head building.

Added the bearings I forgot for the rear ends of the A arms, and slit the mouldings at the front ends. With a bit of carving they hopefully look more like separate parts. The extra plate I added might be a mistake?

I also filled in the backs of the engine mounts with CA and filed them to shape, I think they look reasonable now.

This is the third variation I have tried, and in my opinion the best. A couple more sections and I'll be ready to flood the basement!

Work in progress.. I'm surprised AMT/ERTL hasn't produced one of these. This is based on the "Dukes of Hazzard" CJ5 (which is incorrectly labeled as a CJ-7 on the box).

The top is going to be scratchbuilt using the clear plastic soft-top included in the kit, with styrene. I'm not sure yet what truck bed I will use or if I will just completely scratchbuild a new one. Obviously the chassis will be stretched properly. Should be interesting either way.

A fun scratchbuilding project, more of which can be found on my RMWeb workbench thread

Something I knocked out while my son was home this weekend. More details to come later.

Making some progress on my 1/285th scale USS Wasp LHD-1. The Superstructure is nearly done. Model is 100% scratchbuilt.

A model based on a creature from an Australian aboriginal story. The original was a man constructed from a tree trunk, branches and stones. Mine is made from twigs, wire and modelling putty, and stands about 2 1/2 inches tall.

The wulgaru is an element in my Horrors of the Dreamtime army for 'Hordes of the Things'. It can be seen in action (with a completed base) here.

Three more car spots at the paper mill. My theory is that sheet paper is loaded inside, in the blue building in the background, and rolls are loaded at this new warehouse I knocked together this afternoon. Obviously the roof line is not done. The mill itself is in the building that is (temporarily, I hope) brown. It should look like tilt up concrete walls when finished.

Partially scratchbuild Fire Brushtruck based on a 1:18 MAISTO Hummer. Beside the front end up to the drivers cabine, the entire rear section is handmade by me. The Fire truck is an almost 100% replica of the brush units former used by the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD).

Since this model was made for somebody else, who wanted to apply his own decals, this truck has no markings on.

My custom scratchbuild art doll based on Matt Mercer's delightful NPC from Critical Role

Waiting for the start of the next phase of my layout, the electronical phase, I am willing to do some scenery which can be fit in the layout later. Building scenery, creating the land, the landscape is in fact the work I like to do most. Let’s start with a small farm project. The Proto Model farm and a scratch build farm shed together on a piece of land.

This scratch build shed I made before, see www.flickr.com/photos/27262916@N00/8420284615/in/album-72... But the roof could never satisfy me so I changed for a new one. The model is ready so far, a feed silo will follow, weathering will be done later.

Both buildings will be one farm on a piece of typical dutch coutryside.

Photo 3 and 4; the diorama will show a small road with a muddy ditch in front of the farm, a small bridge will give entrance to the farm. Styrodur is the material used.

Playing with the idea of having a second head for the Cerberus (Cerberus 2). Since the bodies of the first and second models seem identical, why not have heads that I can swap for variation? One of the major differences in the two models (aside from the 'head' itself are the 'necks'. The 2nd revision (shown in the Ma.K Encyclopedia 2) has a much taller neck with sharper edges and lots more little details. The 1st rendition was based on a fairly rounded 1/35 Tamiya tank turret, so it was much smoother. I don't know if the second version was actually supposed to be the first model after attaching new parts to itself, or if it was a completely new machine..

Backed the holes with styrene, filled them with CA and talc then sanded it flat.

Then I made new steps from brass wire and styrene. They're not amazingly true to scale but they're reasonably accurate in detail and a lot finer than the square section plastic kit part.

I also added a couple of hand-grabs which aren't on the kit.
