The 1/285th scale USS Wasp scratchbuild project. Today some of the interior pieces were assembled and installed. Much detailing remains to be done

Making some progress on my 1/285th scale USS Wasp LHD-1. The Superstructure is nearly done. Model is 100% scratchbuilt.

Playing with the idea of having a second head for the Cerberus (Cerberus 2). Since the bodies of the first and second models seem identical, why not have heads that I can swap for variation? One of the major differences in the two models (aside from the 'head' itself are the 'necks'. The 2nd revision (shown in the Ma.K Encyclopedia 2) has a much taller neck with sharper edges and lots more little details. The 1st rendition was based on a fairly rounded 1/35 Tamiya tank turret, so it was much smoother. I don't know if the second version was actually supposed to be the first model after attaching new parts to itself, or if it was a completely new machine..

Added the bearings I forgot for the rear ends of the A arms, and slit the mouldings at the front ends. With a bit of carving they hopefully look more like separate parts. The extra plate I added might be a mistake?

I also filled in the backs of the engine mounts with CA and filed them to shape, I think they look reasonable now.

Backed the holes with styrene, filled them with CA and talc then sanded it flat.

Then I made new steps from brass wire and styrene. They're not amazingly true to scale but they're reasonably accurate in detail and a lot finer than the square section plastic kit part.

I also added a couple of hand-grabs which aren't on the kit.

Added some gussets and most of a packet of 1/8" (3mm-ish) Evergreen strip to the main plate. Also cut holes in things.

Basic kit is Aoshima Nissan Terrano R3M, converted to 2 doors. Custom setting suspension to fit larger tyres. This kit was brought from Japan by My Brother, so I have to build it. Since I already have two Terrano kits, then this one should be different. Finished in Mica Blue (TS-50) with Light Gun Metal Grey (TS-42) with Gaia EX Clear Coat. Interior finished in Gray/ Brown. Scratch build front winch, bull bars, over fenders and rear air deflector. Wheel from Fujimi Suzuki Samurai kit, tyres from Aoshima Hilux Surf Wide.

New video coming to RCeveryday on Youtube, getting the suspension setup on the #3 Rat Rod build.

This masked warrior is Oz's top mobile suit pilot. Up until now, Oz has disguised itself as the Earth Federation's elite "Specials" taskforce, and Zechs has accumulated numerous distinctions during his career in the Specials. He earned the highest marks in the history of the Lake Victoria military academy, received the first two-rank promotion in the history of the Specials, and acquired the nickname "Lightning Baron" for his exploits. Zechs's accomplishments have made him a hero among Oz's soldiers, but this master soldier is cunning enough not to overestimate his own abilities or underestimate those of his enemies.

My rough scratchbuild based on Makoto Kobayashi's "C-Eyes". Note this is not intended to be a replica as I am not using any of the correct donor kits.

The turret is turned to the right and the gun barrels are aimed at about a 35° angle.

Waiting for the start of the next phase of my layout, the electronical phase, I am willing to do some scenery which can be fit in the layout later. Building scenery, creating the land, the landscape is in fact the work I like to do most. Let’s start with a small farm project. The Proto Model farm and a scratch build farm shed together on a piece of land.

This scratch build shed I made before, see www.flickr.com/photos/27262916@N00/8420284615/in/album-72... But the roof could never satisfy me so I changed for a new one. The model is ready so far, a feed silo will follow, weathering will be done later.

Both buildings will be one farm on a piece of typical dutch coutryside.

Photo 5 and 6; before to add the plaster, the styrodur needs a bit of sanding. The first layer of plaster has been done here.

This would be a fun scratchbuild movie prop. The electronics for the digital speedometer wouldn't be too difficult either, you could probably base it off a 555 timer chip. I'm willing to bet the remote itself is just a late 1980's store-bought car/plane controller.

It's been a long time since I did anything with this one.. just playing with the turrets tonight. A long way to go still.
