This year the Narrabri Embroiderers Guild Xmas swap was a scissors fob. I did not get mine made in time, but two friends were making simple ones like this out of plastic canvas and Pearl thread. Kaye gave me a couple of bits of canvas and I designed the medallion side on a bit of scrap paper on the train! i made it the next day, but could not get to the swap party. Now I finally have a scissors fob.
Sewn together with long armed cross stitch.
This is the scissors I used to cut the thread. I also used a wire-cutter to snip the el-wire, but I forgot to take a picture of that. Oh well. I also forgot to take a picture of the electrical tape, but that wasn't too important for making the project. I just used it to cover up a couple ends.

this one is actually old - i made it last fall to wear to a craft fair. i threw on a cardigan because it's too big in the bodice (i'm glad though for proof of weight loss!) so i will have to add shirring -- same goes for all my lolita dresses too, eventually. the fabric is faux vintage, from japan -- the fabric it's based on is in one of my vintage textiles books!
