Macro Mondays: Vibrant Minimalism

Choices in life. Don't know what got me thinking of this today. What do you pick?

The Rock, cool and hard on the outside. Unforgiving.

But how do we know it doesn’t have a little heart inside, full of emotion, thoughts and fears? I like the feel of the rock in my hand.

The Paper, warm, crumples easily, the creases of time visible like ageing skin, across the indelible words that ramble a story of life, and laughter and fun. I’m at home with paper and pen

Or do I pick a fight with the Scissors that strive to part all it catches, cleanly or savagely, for it cares not. It cuts and tears. And can lead to tears. Hmmm. I’ve felt their sharpness before.

I could pick any of these and be a winner. Or a loser. But I'm determined to win, for I know I'll cheat if I have to with rock in one hand and paper in the other, I'll make peace with scissors. I'll find a way!

Saturday Self-Challenge-Sharp

These are my excellent kitchen scissors. I use them for everything!

Hello amazing people!!!

Today at Color my World Daily it is a red day and the theme for this week at Macro Mondays is cutter.

So, I will attempt another double challenge although the red part is not that obvious this week in my picture…Once again I had a hard time deciding on the general concept of my picture… I took a lot of pictures of different cutters, scissors, knifes, blades and axes (yes, yes that is true!) in my house but I wasn’t satisfied with any of them…. So, I found these tiny, miniature scissors at our craft store and I bought them… Usually I try as much as possible not to buy props… As you all know by now, I have plenty of stuff at my house (since I’m a hoarder lol) so why not use it?

But once again I could not resist, and I got these miniature scissors… and just for my defense, those scissors are pretty cool, they are made of metal and you can actually cut with them (well ok, the results aren’t super precise but still you can cut something very small…so the scissors aren’t totally useless…)!!! So, here is my picture. After the pencil vs the brush (last week), we have scissors versus pencil… I must admit making those scissors stand in that position was truly a challenge, this thing is super difficult to work with and falls very, very easily (don’t even think about sneezing !!!)!! Luckily my husband helped me (with a huge setup, seriously it was a very elaborate system of metal rods just to make a tiny scissor stand still, we had a good laugh about it lol), and I got this picture out of my system lol. And then I could begin my new week with a fresh start! But then I realized that I had a very, very similar tiny scissors from a kitchen set my boys used to play with…. Now, I have two pairs of tiny miniature scissors…so double the fun and double the pictures ;-) !!!

Have a beautiful day my friends!! Happy CMWD and happy MM to all participants!!

Thank you so much for your comments /favs and support! I’m humbled and grateful!!! I wish you all an amazing day and see you soon on Flickr (how about tomorrow ??)!!

Kate is a paper-crafter and a friend lent her these for a project. When I saw the bag-o-scissors, I realized I. Must. Photograph.

Why so many? Each scissor has a different cut pattern. Evidently important for paper crafters.

Thank you to everyone who pauses long enough to look at my photo. Any comments or Faves are very much appreciated.

Today's Macro Mondays theme is "Cutter".

I was struggling for an idea. I didn't want to turn the lawn mower upside down and macro the blade, or try to get the hedge trimmer teeth to look interesting. Sadly a knife looked like the only option until I found these minute scissors on the hall carpet.

I've set the doll's house scissors on the blade of some normal sized kitchen scissors. They are tiny!!!

i should not be allowed to own a pair of scissors. seriously.

and this is how long when they are straight. but usually they curl up through out the day. which means I've got poodle fringe by the end of my day.

i need a hair therapist.

and a bodyguard as my hair stylist is going to kill me.

oh oh. and i know too-short bangs can be so cool. but not on me. seriously. me? charlie brown head. short bangs do not help this illusion. i mean fact.

actually... it perhaps does prove that i am the real life Lucy Van Pelt. so there's that.

not sure if that is good or not.

(don't answer that).

In a total style switch-up, I've gone from low key shots to this high key one. I also ran it through some fun Topaz filters.

This is a quilt I worked on years ago, and never finished. The quilt style is called "Cathedral Window". I was making it for my daughter, when she was a child, for her home, if she ever grew up and got married.

Well, now, as of Thursday, she is married, and there is still only about one sixth of a quilt. Sigh.

Anyway, I put some bluish lights behind it, to show through the fabric, between the colored pieces, so that's what that is, if you were wondering.

The whole quilt is put together from these little squares I fold and sew together, like the one in front, with the scissors.

I know it looks orange in the photo, but it is really pink and purple.

Happy Alphabet February y'all!

While focusing on the ROCK, this image gives a literal interpretation of the old hand game ROCK paper scissors.

(Note: the scissors are only 3 inches long, providing an idea of how little this ROCK is). The ROCK was found on one of our walks in the wilds of Northwestern Ontario suggesting that perhaps Mother Nature likes to play ROCK games, too.

WIT: I'm not sure if this counts as contemplative photography, but as I sat in the hair salon today waiting for my hair to be done, I noticed the tools of my stylist's trade, and it did make me rather contemplative about the work and art that hair cutting can be, if done well. In post, I did convert to bw for clarity, and cropped to square.
