This was originally my YIP, but I couldn't get it to upload for some reason, then I had to go, and then something happened slightly more interesting :-) But I figured I'd post it anyway...
I have been taking these pills almost daily for probably 10+ years. I hate them. HATE them. They do nothing for me anymore...I am still in constant pain all day. Yet if I do not take them then it is so much worse :-(
I am only 32 and for over a decade I have had a pinched nerve in my lower back, 3 degenerative discs, a bulging disc, arthritis in my back, ankles, and feet (the ankles/feet is newer, since last year, the back part has been around), sciatica problems, and then some neck issues, too. I've tried everything from Physical Therapy to personal trainer to all sorts of meds, it doesn't matter if I am the size I am now (though it probably makes it worse) - when I weighed 110 and you could see my ribs I had the same problems. Surgery is NOT an option for me. They fail too much for these problems.
I may just be drugged up for a long time to come :-(

I went to the Senior Center for the HT Board Meeting. One of the hostesses is not going due to sciatica ; so, I am in number 2 spot. I went home & continued packing. Then off to the Hair Clinic for Chelsea to fix my hair. Next I went & worked out with Billy. Even though my right bicep still hurts, I stood on the Bosu ball & pulled 27.5 pounds. Now to finish my packing this evening.

"Radiculopathy"
Intaglio, hand work
2012
Radiculopathy is a medical term for an injured or strained muscle in the lower back that causes sciatica (nerve pain shooting down the leg). I use collage, watercolor, inks, and paints for the color. Each print in a small edition is different; none look the same.

It has not been the best week and a half in my life.... After a great day at Kensington Metropark hiking and photographing birds, I hurt my back. This knocked me off work for a day, got me to the Dr., and caused me to be of almost no use to my wife at the GAW show in Livonia. I was getting better a little bit each day...then UofM Graduation (Congrats Chris). I came home from that and all of a sudden, my left leg started hurting....and hurting...and hurting. So the verdict is....Sciatica Nerve Aggravation (It's not a clot...so that is good). I was out TWO days and have been with leg pain going on four days. Some of it is the worst I have ever had....ANYWAY, on top is my complicated drug chart to make sure I get all my meds when I am supposed to. On the bottom is my beloved and late Flappy's when he hurt his back last year in August and September. Notice the similarities??? So the question is...who wore it better?

Ugh, my back hurts. Among other things. More transcripts today, meaning a whole lot of sitting and typing and listening to just how important customer service is to the company reps interviewed (dude, very). I have to get up and give myself a break from time to time in order to try and avoid the sciatica that kicked in last time I had a bunch of transcripts to do.
Only today I ended up using one break to take the 7 Days photo to show how I've been sat most of the day, so I've moved not at all from this chair and my back is currently writing bad things about me in its journal and is probably going to serve me with a cease and desist order in the morning.
Eighty percent (80%) of people will experience lower back pain at some stage of their life. It is one of the most common reasons for people missing work and seeing a doctor or physiotherapist. But lower back pain is something you can avoid with some inside knowledge, back care strategies and some back exercises.

Back pain is pain felt in the back. Episodes of back pain may be acute, sub-acute, or chronic depending on the duration. The pain may be characterized as a dull ache, shooting or piercing pain, or a burning sensation. The pain may radiate into the arms and hands as well as the legs or feet, and may include paresthesia (tingling with no apparent cause), weakness or numbness in the legs and arms. The anatomic classification of back pain follows the segments of the spine: neck pain (cervical), middle back pain (thoracic), lower back pain (lumbar) or coccydynia (tailbone or sacral pain) with the lumbar vertebrae area most common for pain.
The pain may originate from the muscles, nerves, bones, joints or other structures in the vertebral column (spine). Internal structures such as the gallbladder and pancreas may also cause referred pain in the back.
Back pain is common with about nine out of ten adults experiencing it at some point in their life, and five out of ten working adults having it every year. However, it is rare for it to be permanently disabling, and in most cases of herniated disks and stenosis, rest, injections or surgery have similar general pain resolution outcomes on average after one year. In the United States, acute low back pain is the fifth most common reason for physician visits and causes 40% of missed days off work. Additionally, it is the single leading cause of disability worldwide.

In Scotland where public healthcare provision is, in theory, based on scientifically established clinical evidence I find it difficult to understand how non-scientific practitioners can get away with giving an impression that their treatments have any useful effect on a shopping list such as this.
Here are my political suggestions. (1) Until such time as they provide proper scientific evidence they shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the NHS. (2) In the meantime, in order to protect the public from quackery, they should be held to account under commercial legislation such as 'trades description' law.

HE ANSWERED THE LAST CALL
West Sussex County Times - Saturday 24 January 1920
TRAGEDY AT HORSHAM.
DEPRESSION AND SUICIDE.
Mr. F. W. Butler, the Coroner for the District, held an inquest at the Rising Sun beerhouse, Pondtail Road, Horsham, on Tuesday afternoon on the body of Daniel Golds, aged 44, a roadman in the employ of the County Council, who was found hanging in the scullery at 14, Pondtail Road that morning. Mr. J. Coles was foreman of the jury.
Margaret Golds, of 14, Pondtail Road, identified the body as that of her husband. He was discharged from the Army on the 14th March. He was not well then and had got worse lately, complaining of pains in the head. He had not been wounded or gassed. Deceased was laid up for five weeks in April and May with sciatica and lumbago. He had been depressed lately, but had not had to stop work. Her husband had never mentioned the subject of suicide. Just after Christmas, when breaking stones, deceased injured his left eye, and said his sight was misty. At the time he stayed at home for a week. He was unusually quiet on Monday. They went to bed at eight o'clock. During the night he got up. She spoke to him, and he said he was going out the back. Witness went to sleep again and woke at five that morning. On going down she found him hanging from a beam in the scullery, with a rope round his neck. She cut him down and called her neighbour. The deceased was quite cold. He was attended by Dr. Sparrow for his eye.
In reply to the coroner, witness said she was on good terms with her husband; there was no domestic trouble.
P.C. J. H. Backlog said that at 5.20 that morning he received a communication and proceeded to 1, Pondtail road. In the scullery the deceased was lying on the floor with his clothes on, and appeared to be dead. Witness applied artificial respiration without result. There was a halter hanging on a hook in a beam about 6ft. 4in. from the ground. Witness found 8s. 4d. in money on the body, and a razor in the left-hand trousers pocket. He could find no letter. Dr. Kinneir arrived at about a quarter to six and pronounced life extinct.
The widow said there was a chair turned over in the scullery.
Dr. Kinneir said that when he saw the body Golds must have been dead some time. Death was due to asphyxia from strangulation.
The Corner said there was no apparent motive except that the state of the man's health had not been good. Mrs. Golds told them that he had been getting more quiet, reserved, and depressed, which was not usual with him. There was no evidence of any suggestion of motive. Mrs Golds said there was no trouble that she knew of at all, and she was on very good terms with him. Sometimes in cases of depression there was a sudden impulse which a person could not resist, and acted upon it. It was, in his (the Coroner's) opinion, only a question of degree as to what amounted to insanity. Some people thought that any person who would take his life was temporarily insane, at any rate. If the Jury were satisfied that he took his own life by hanging himself, they could say what, in their opinion, was the state of his mind.
The Jury returned a verdict that the deceased committed suicide by hanging himself whilst temporarily insane.
