Back pain is pain felt in the back. Episodes of back pain may be acute, sub-acute, or chronic depending on the duration. The pain may be characterized as a dull ache, shooting or piercing pain, or a burning sensation. The pain may radiate into the arms and hands as well as the legs or feet, and may include paresthesia (tingling with no apparent cause), weakness or numbness in the legs and arms. The anatomic classification of back pain follows the segments of the spine: neck pain (cervical), middle back pain (thoracic), lower back pain (lumbar) or coccydynia (tailbone or sacral pain) with the lumbar vertebrae area most common for pain.
The pain may originate from the muscles, nerves, bones, joints or other structures in the vertebral column (spine). Internal structures such as the gallbladder and pancreas may also cause referred pain in the back.
Back pain is common with about nine out of ten adults experiencing it at some point in their life, and five out of ten working adults having it every year. However, it is rare for it to be permanently disabling, and in most cases of herniated disks and stenosis, rest, injections or surgery have similar general pain resolution outcomes on average after one year. In the United States, acute low back pain is the fifth most common reason for physician visits and causes 40% of missed days off work. Additionally, it is the single leading cause of disability worldwide.

Struck In right side by fragment of shell which caused no exit wound but broke 2 ribs. Pleurisy followed immediately. Sent to hospital to recover., he lost 2 stone in weight due to injuries. Marked tenderness and hyper asthenia over lower dorsal and lumbar spine and along the sciatic nerve of the right side.
Service abroad: 1 yr 116 days
Service at home: 121 days
Discharged as no longer physically fit for War Service, on account of wounds received in action and was of good character.
On discharge he was described as blue eyed, fair hair and fresh complexion; 5ft 51/2 in tall; and aged 40 7/12 yrs and worked for Railways (New Zealand) and had a small scar on left knee.
During service he suffered sciatica, enteritis, pleurisy, scabies and neuritis
7 Oct 1916: Charged with direct disobedience of camp standing order no. 38 and being found on licensed premises in hospital uniform. Also on 10th Oct.

This was originally my YIP, but I couldn't get it to upload for some reason, then I had to go, and then something happened slightly more interesting :-) But I figured I'd post it anyway...
I have been taking these pills almost daily for probably 10+ years. I hate them. HATE them. They do nothing for me anymore...I am still in constant pain all day. Yet if I do not take them then it is so much worse :-(
I am only 32 and for over a decade I have had a pinched nerve in my lower back, 3 degenerative discs, a bulging disc, arthritis in my back, ankles, and feet (the ankles/feet is newer, since last year, the back part has been around), sciatica problems, and then some neck issues, too. I've tried everything from Physical Therapy to personal trainer to all sorts of meds, it doesn't matter if I am the size I am now (though it probably makes it worse) - when I weighed 110 and you could see my ribs I had the same problems. Surgery is NOT an option for me. They fail too much for these problems.

Then off to the Hair Clinic for Chelsea to fix my hair. Next I went & worked out with Billy. Even though my right bicep still hurts, I stood on the Bosu ball & pulled 27.5 pounds. It has not been the best week and a half in my life.... After a great day at Kensington Metropark hiking and photographing birds, I hurt my back. This knocked me off work for a day, got me to the Dr., and caused me to be of almost no use to my wife at the GAW show in Livonia. I was getting better a little bit each day...then UofM Graduation (Congrats Chris). I came home from that and all of a sudden, my left leg started hurting....and hurting...and hurting. So the verdict is....Sciatica Nerve Aggravation (It's not a clot...so that is good). I was out TWO days and have been with leg pain going on four days. Some of it is the worst I have ever had....ANYWAY, on top is my complicated drug chart to make sure I get all my meds when I am supposed to. On the bottom is my beloved and late Flappy's when he hurt his back last year in August and September. Notice the similarities??? So the question is...who wore it better?
