Lighting the first few candles. A silent protest was organized to prevent the Hebbal Lake from being leased out to a five star hotel which plans to set up a floating restaurant at the lake. The lake has been home to a variety of water birds and has always been a haven for the urban birder.
We were in a wind tunnel, we ran out of matches and then we were told we couldn't light the candles anyway (even though we've done that every year) so Mark went straight to the phone for a substitute. Under Alita's watchful eye, of course.

This past April I helped my buddy Byron insulate his home in Lake Highlands. He bought insulation made out of recycled newspaper, and the machine was loaned out by Lowes for the day. No delivery fee.
Daylight Saving's photographers didn't show, so I got asked if I could go down to their practise and take a couple of shots.
This was taken at the Dingwall Rotary Club day which also has a classic car show. As you can probably gather from the smiling onlookers, this was not a real crash but a 'mock' demonstration on how to remove a person from a crashed vehicle. The "victim" was a willing volunteer and looked stable throughout and as they proceeded to cut off the doors, roof etc..it really gave you an insight into accidents and was quite frightening too...!! No pandas were harmed in the demonstration...although the car was in bits...

There were four Niland brothers who served in the war together. Robert J. and Preston T. Niland died at very close to the same time, and a third brother was MIA at the time of their deaths, so the fourth brother, Sergeant Frederick "Fritz" Niland was ordered home. It's not the same exact story as Saving Private Ryan, but the movie was originally based off this family.
