posting on Viewfinders about holding space for myself, both in photography and the greater world! "Giving myself permission to slow down, putting a layer of fuzzy cotton between myself and the sometimes noisy, chaotic world helps keep me sane, calm, healthy."
She was able to (and did) ride a lot of the rides. Her favorites being the log ride and tilt-a-whirl. Wasn't too happy she couldn't ride the bumper cars yet.
Looks like fun! Patrons going for a ride on the 'Sea Swings' at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk in Santa Cruz, California.
From the early days of The Santa Cruz Beach/Boardwalk. Several of these still exist and live in the Arcade currently. I loved the way the reflection of the staircase on the opposite wall looks like it is coming out of his mouth (or possibly going in).
On Bruce and Bonnie's last Friday in town, the guys took the day off work, and we all drove over to the boardwalk in Santa Cruz. The kids had fun riding the rides, and Evan even did well in the car on the way there and back, although he only slept for about a half hour and otherwise skipped his nap for the day.
Warm sand and cool surf. The scent of cotton candy and the thrill of a wooden roller coaster ride. Some of my earliest memories are centered around the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. My parents went there when they were young and my wife and I took our little one there countless times as he was growing up. At over 100 years old, it is one of America’s oldest and most beloved seaside amusement parks. On a clear day I can see it across Monterey Bay from our living room window.

(and a little bit crazy)
The little boy behind her was trying to figure out what was going on. She also rode the log ride which sent her into temporary shock and refused to ride again.. until later when she was ready (and the line was long). Also loved the tilt-a-whirl, i think we rode it 3 times in a row.
The oldest-looking video game I could find. I don't remember it but it's similar to Atari's Pong, which every kid in the neighborhood except me had -- we had ran the creatively-named Ball off a cassette player jacked into our Apple. The slow back-and-forth was thrilling at the time, though now it's rather like watching paint dry.
Pong.
Pong.
Pong.
