Guarding the entrance to the "Haunted House"

Poor seagull (missing a foot) taken from the pier

We went to Santa Cruz, California, for moonrise shoot over the Walton Lighthouse. It did not happen, the cloud cover was too thick. We turned around and found this amusement park scene. The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is a popular amusement park in the region. I remember going on that roller coaster made of a wooden structure a long time ago. It's loud and rattling very much because the rails are not that straight.

I processed a paintery and a balanced HDR photo from three RAW exposures, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

Summer's coming to a close here.

Blogged here~ www.mymomentarylapsesofreason.blogspot.com

Textures by playingwithbrushes, darkwood67, and a map texture.

Does anyone know who's map texture this is?

This is an iconic shot of Santa Cruz, California, encompassing not only the amusement park and boardwalk, but the wharf and pier as well. You can barely make out the hills in the background because of all the smoke coming from the fires in the area. Hope you enjoy!

One last one from the Boardwalk

On the first day of the new year I went to Santa Cruz, California to witness sunset at the Twin Lakes State Beach. Later that night I went to a cliff near the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk to take a night shot of the at that time closed amusement park.

I processed a realistic, a balanced, and a paintery HDR photo from four RAW exposures, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

We went to Santa Cruz, California, for moonrise shoot over the Walton Lighthouse. It did not happen, the cloud cover was too thick. We turned around to take photos of theSanta Cruz Beach Boardwalk, a popular amusement park in the region. We played around with longe exposure shots where you move the camera abruptly at the end. This on resulted in a fountain of lights.

Smugglin' Isaac Goldgrubber is a pirate. He's sneaky. He does his pirate stuff at night. So, during the day, he needs a place to stay. He found that if he just hangs out in the open, no one even pays any attention to him. Of course, being a pirate, he really wants to rob and plunder. He has to have a lot of self control during the daytime.

Santa Cruz Boardwalk Amusement Park, Santa Cruz, California 2012

Santa Cruz, California 2012

This area once housed the first saltwater baths constructed in the 1860's. In 1893 the bathhouses were consolidated into The Neptune baths and salt water plunge with 500 dressing rooms installed. (The plunge was a heated saltwater swimming pool) .During that time, salt water was felt to have healing properties and became a very popular place for tourism. In 1904 the casino became a huge ballroom with cafes and two rooftop gardens. Over the years, the plunge and bathhouses were removed and the Boardwalk began adding fun attractions like the Carousel and the roller coaster. There was a large fun house there when I grew up in the 50's which (at various times) housed a long wooden slide, a huge barrel that rolled around tumbling people inside, blow holes and distorted mirrors. There was also miniature golf there at one time. Now it has become a large video arcade area with modern video games, and video seated driving games etc.

would love some constructive criticism...
