This image represents memories, the memories in the bowl are all things we remember, some stay in the bowl, other enter and “bounce out”. All memories lose detail represented by the dust leaving the bowl. Perhaps those déjà vu feelings we get from time to time are from glimpses of the memories not yet in the bowl.
You should check this place out not only is the scenery gorgeous but the most calming music its amazing!

Each year, usually in summer, the Sahara Desert kicks up its sands and somehow it gets into the atmosphere, travels across the Atlantic Ocean and ends up in South Florida and sometimes in the skies over the Florida Keys. It casts a muted, dull glow over the islands turning what is usually a crisp tropical sky into a hazy, sometimes golden scene. It's pretty high up so it really doesn't effect the air quality, and it only last a few days, but it's quite a different look for this, the sunset capital of the world. It's a change from the vivid bright sunset colors that we are accustomed to, but quite honestly...I am very happy to see it go! ~ Islamorada, Florida

Changing times. This "accessory" on a clothing store shelf caught my eye. The sand is not actually sand, but tiny gold balls. The way they looked as they moved through the center was mesmerizing, and I couldn't take my eyes off it.

I have had this photo in mind for quite a while now (well something similar - but that didn't work) and today I caught it. This timer has been used before, with old hands, and I guess, even back then, similar words echoed around my head.
I have a contact on here who is in mid 20s. He has a degree in photography, is good looking and seems like a lovely lad, but he is questioning where his life is going, Why nothing is going right, or even, going his way. He is waiting for his life to come to him, for "life" to start happening.
What he doesn't realise is, that it started 26 years ago, and that it doesn't come to you as such, you have to make it. It has taken me a long, long time to realise this myself.
Life is very short, mine is more than half over. Have I lived it to the full? Probably not, but I treasure what I have done and achieved. My heart and mind are young, as is my outlook, just wish my body and looks hadn't gone racing ahead !
Do I still wait for things to happen to my life, do I still wish for love, wealth and everlasting health? Yes of course I do. But the sand of time have made me realise that they won't come without a little encouragement, enticement, chasing and capture.
The cruel side to all this, is that the sand is unforgiving. They affect how you look and feel, each grain is another wrinkle, another grey hair, another forgotten moment and another pound ! Each grain means another 5 minutes to making yourself look how you looked 20 years ago.
Is this important? Not always, infact, sometimes, it's a waste of sand, as something much more important and exciting could be happening around that corner, you have yet to step around !
I don't always abide by own words. I do need a kick up the backside to get things done (I have still to put the house on the market !) and to stop waiting for something to happen. Although, I regularly remind myself, that if I waited for someone to walk alongside me, I would have missed out on puffins, the beauty of Scotland and all the other places I have visited alone.
But how can I explain all this to someone whose top half of the timer is mainly full, whereas it's the bottom half that holds most of mine.
I tell my boys - live your life, travel, explore all opportunities, some will be life changing, some will be mistakes, but you tried. But, you must seek them out, they will rarely find you. Do it now, the sand travels too fast to not grab life and enjoy every moment.
I now try to do just that.... and sod that sand !!!
Unburdening by Kenneth Rougeau. Digital collage created 11/07/2009. Fiddling with some source elements over the course of the day, I created eight or so images, three or four of which came out pretty well. This one is Charlotte's favorite. I'll share the others over time ;)

An island of worn ancient cliffs sheltring a garden of wonders; Lost for countless ages in the midst of a vast ocean, home to Jinn, Elves and gentle spirits.
The hourglass concretely represents the present as being between the past and the future, and this has made it an enduring symbol of time itself.
