"Ah.... Intriguing, and possibly instructive as well...for both of us. Very well; have him masqued and spell-bound, and brought in immediately."

A breathtaking view of a perfectly sculpted sand dune, its golden curves meeting the endless blue sky. Shadows play along the ridge, highlighting the natural artistry of the desert. A testament to the power of wind and time, shaping landscapes into mesmerizing patterns.
A breathtaking view of towering sand dunes glowing under the golden light, contrasting with the resilient trees that stand tall against the desert’s harsh conditions. This stunning scene captures the harmony of survival and the vast, ever-changing beauty of the desert landscape
"For your sake, he had better be more entertaining than the one last night," Tholosa says, her displeasure plain upon her face.
The sergeant swallows, and says, "He is the captain of the armies of Umyth. He arrived in the pits a few days ago, and was just brought in today."

I scanned this photo from a 33 mm film amongst my archives.
30 years ago Steve and I returned to our beloved city of Swansea. One of the first things we did was to visit Rhossili Bay on the Gower Peninsular. We noticed that the wreck of the Helvetia had diminished in size since we had last seen her but, worst still, over the time we have lived in Swansea we have observed that her carcass has taken a battering as successive winter storms do their worst.
If you look around the internet you will find pictures where much more of the hull is visible. Some of the timbers have been lost, whilst others remain buried beneath the continually shifting sands of Rhossili beach. I fear that in the not too distant future these photographs may well be all we have left to remember this most famous of local wrecks.
A bit of history:
The gales around the Gower coast on the 1st November 1887 caused the oak barque of the Helvetia, to be swept around Worm's Head into the shallow waters of Rhossili Bay. Here the captain of the Helvetia dropped anchor and was taken ashore by the coastguard. However, he refused to abandon his ship altogether, leaving the crew aboard her, to stop anyone from stealing her. Unfortunately, the wind refused to die down and when it changed direction suddenly, it forced the ship to drag her anchor. With nightfall rapidly approaching, the decision was finally made for the crew to abandon ship. The tortured wreck of the Helvetia was discovered the next morning, laid to rest upon the sands and surrounded by her cargo of 500 tons of wood.

In the heart of the desert, where silence reigns, a lone, weathered bush clings to the shifting sands. The wind carves intricate patterns on the golden dunes, casting long shadows that dance under the endless blue sky. A testament to resilience, survival, and the quiet beauty of the arid wilderness.

"Behold me, mortal man!" Tholosa cries, posing for her new victim in the moonlight. "Behold your new empress and goddess!"

Winding tracks carve their way through the endless dunes of the Namib Desert, leaving behind a fleeting record of movement in the ever-shifting sands. Nature’s own patterns tell the silent story of creatures that roam, each step blending into the golden landscape. A moment frozen in time amid the vast wilderness of Namibia.
The sergeant of the guard reports that a prisoner has been brought to her for her "amusement" that night.

Hello my dear flickr friends. Many thanks for all you lovely comments, invites and awards on my previous photos. They are much appreciated.
Here is a collection of shots I took on Monday night night. Initially, I just went out for a walk after a busy day, before sunset time - as the day had been sunnier for a change (but still very cold). I didn't expect to find anything interesting so I decided to not take my camera as unecessary baggage. Then of course, Murphy's law being as it is, I came across these images and really regreted not taking my camera.. It seemed that the wind had been so strong the previous day and earlier on that it had blown sand in this unusual way creating small sand dunes around the benches. So I found myself rushing back home quite a long way to get the camera . However, by the time I got back I was only able to take two shots in what resembled daylight and the rest I had to do as post sunset shots. I hope you like at least some of these and find them interesting..
Wishing you a very happy Wednesday and rest of the week. : )) xo
We created time and have become a slave to it.
I hate sand, so I'm very thankful Mark was willing to get covered in it for this photo.
"And so you, too, thought that you could defy my will, o captain of fools...? Soon you shall learn just how easy that is. And then you shall command another army...at least, you shall while you last."
She draws upon her pipe, and breathes the smoke into his face and mouth, muttering words into his ear in a tongue almost forgotten by mortals. The combined effect of her spell seeps directly into him, and his senses begin to reel, his determination to shake and crack.

Each year, usually in summer, the Sahara Desert kicks up its sands and somehow it gets into the atmosphere, travels across the Atlantic Ocean and ends up in South Florida and sometimes in the skies over the Florida Keys. It casts a muted, dull glow over the islands turning what is usually a crisp tropical sky into a hazy, sometimes golden scene. It's pretty high up so it really doesn't effect the air quality, and it only last a few days, but it's quite a different look for this, the sunset capital of the world. It's a change from the vivid bright sunset colors that we are accustomed to, but quite honestly...I am very happy to see it go! ~ Islamorada, Florida

Tholosa the Exalted, the Witch-queen of the Empire of Oshor Chih -- known not as The Exalted by her enemies, but as Tholosa of the Grave -- takes her ease in her palace's apartments. Leagues she has traveled, years studying with the darkest sorcerers of the left-hand path, more years establishing a power base and sending forth her ensorcelled armies to conquer more and more distant lands.
In all of that time, she has ever remained fresh and lovely, her spells holding the passing of the years at bay until she should extend her demesne across the whole of the world. Her face is painted and her hair is coiffed in the style of the now-extinguished nobles of Oshor Chih, the land of her birth and the first nation to tall to her power. Her body is but little concealed by the robes she has conjured into existence, made of materials none but Tholosa know. Her nails are long, sharpened claws of obsidian, covered with traceries of silver; and her jewelry is silver as well, the coldness of the white metal in keeping with the coldness of her beauty and her heart.
Does she simply dream in the darkness, lost in the fog of her sorcerous drugs -- or are there darker thoughts behind the languid lids? None can tell, for her eyes are no longer eyes as mortal man or woman see the world out of. They are cold, multifaceted orbs now, orbs which glow with purpure light, hypnotic in their power....

hmm. I made it to #360.
its all pretty surreal and i really dont know how i feel about it right now.
I still have about 20 ideas scribbled down in a book next to my monitor, that are
possibly never going to see the light of day,so i guess now i just have to
decide which ones i tackle for the remainder of this project.
this is one i thought of almost a year ago, the Hourglass is one of
several dragon things i went "OOOO!" and had to buy.
Its not only about time to try and cap off this 365,but another birthday and that
always makes me reflect and think about how time flies by so fast. So many things
i told myself i would have accomplished by this age when i was little.
Yet, so many things i never dreamed i would be able to say i have already done, too.
IM afeared my last day is going to feature a HUGE post about what i have
learned, and the things i will take away from this past year. HUGE, i tell ya .:P
One thing i thought about 6 months ago, was that i might just kickstart another
365 , after this one ends. Well, ive arrived at the decision that i am NOT going
to continue. it was a great experience ... i got everything and more that i thought
i would out of this... and i have learned,thankfully... when to put something down
and say "thats good". in Art and Music more than in Life, but im trying to apply it.
Ive seen too many 365 V.2's crash and burn, and im sure there are alot of people
nodding as they read this. its not the same experience the second time around, and
i have no desire to try and re-create a feeling that you only get the first time around.
and im glad i can say im ready to Let go.

Team My Little Pwny, good to submit?
I've been finding myself drawn to create out of focus images lately. I realize it's not to everyone's taste. I find that such images can in certain instances be both more intimate and more universal than their traditional counterparts. They often contain ambiguities that I find conceptually interesting. One of the things I like most is that I often don't have a clear idea of the ambiguities or universal characteristics of the images when I'm behind the camera. The conceptual content is something that emerges later once I have the images in hand and can reflect on them at length.
Best viewed on black.
In truth, this is a macro shot because the hourglasses are only about 3 inches tall. They're mounted together on a stand, which was nice because I didn't have to painstakingly line them up! It's a timer I've had for years. © All rights reserved, my images are registered. Please do not use in any form without permission. Thank you!

The sun leans gently into the horizon, painting the dunes in liquid gold. A woman stands still, rooted like an ancient tree, yet light as wind. Her silhouette dances with the fading light, a quiet hymn to the setting day. The sand cradles her steps, tracing stories soon to be swept away by the whispers of the evening breeze.
In this fleeting moment, time dissolves. The mountains bow in the distance, and the sky hums softly, wrapping the earth in warmth. The delicate lace that adorns her moves like petals in the air – fragile, yet woven with strength. She stands not against nature, but with it, becoming a thread in the vast, eternal fabric of land and sky.
This is not merely sunset; it is a symphony of stillness. In the heart of Florianópolis, where the dunes stretch like ocean waves, the ordinary melts into the extraordinary. The dance of shadow and light leaves behind an unspoken truth – that beauty exists in the quiet, the pause, the breath between one step and the next.
