This sample (1) was inspired from my mood board as well as sustainable and protest styling fashion. I created it by painting on a strip of material reusing household objects eg. sponges and parts of a vacuum. From this I cut pieces off and sewed one piece on to the denim I had previously painted. With the other piece I cut a hole in the denim and frayed the edges, then sewing it on from underneath the fabric so it poked through. This is applique. Whilst sewing the fabric, a few beads were included to add to the vintage look.
This sample (2) was also inspired by the previously drawn mood board. For this sample I painted on a piece of recycled denim with acrylic paint.

It is common for restaurants to show their wares in the front window. Real food wouldn't work so they use what are called samples. Samples are made from glass.
Mars Sample Return program manager, JPL, Bobby Braun, shows a concept model of NASA's orbiting sample container, which will hold tubes of Martian rock and soil samples that will be returned to Earth through a Mars sample return campaign during a NASA Perseverance rover press briefing about the search for ancient life at Mars and about samples to be brought back to Earth on a future mission, Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2021, at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California. The Perseverance Mars rover is due to land on Mars Thursday, Feb. 18, 2021. A key objective for Perseverance’s mission on Mars is astrobiology, including the search for signs of ancient microbial life. The rover will characterize the planet’s geology and past climate, pave the way for human exploration of the Red Planet, and be the first mission to collect and cache Martian rock and regolith.
