These Fashion Textile samples are ones I did at the beginning of my course when experimenting with the heat press. I used materials like paper and safety pins to make marks on the fabric and I used foiling to make the silver effect of the safety pin mark. My brief for these samples was 'Heavy Metal' so I spent most of my time developing my original samples, because they came out too light, whereas I needed dark samples to match my colour samples. I used the safety pins and foiling to match the metalic concept of 'Heavy Metal'. Although some of my samples seem blurry, this is the actual effect on the fabric as the ink was starting to wear off the print, I think this is an effective print because it creates an illusion when you look at it.

This particular design symbolizes the highest social class. (I believe this is a tradition of the local ethnic group called the "black thai" or Tai Tay)

This sample (1) was inspired from my mood board as well as sustainable and protest styling fashion. I created it by painting on a strip of material reusing household objects eg. sponges and parts of a vacuum. From this I cut pieces off and sewed one piece on to the denim I had previously painted. With the other piece I cut a hole in the denim and frayed the edges, then sewing it on from underneath the fabric so it poked through. This is applique. Whilst sewing the fabric, a few beads were included to add to the vintage look.

This sample (2) was also inspired by the previously drawn mood board. For this sample I painted on a piece of recycled denim with acrylic paint.
