I am making these pillows for my kids.

 

I started by laying out the strips of fabric in a sample pattern to see how the finish product would look. What I discovered was that the jelly roll I had purchased only had half as many strips as the one used in the tutorial I found on Pinterest, so I had to buy a second jelly roll of each color. Fortunately, Joann's had them on sale on Black Friday, and I had a 25% off coupon, so it wasn't too much more expensive to buy the proper amount.

Many of the shops at Nishiki Market offer little saucers for your sampling pleasure. If you want to save a bit of cash, you can probably skip lunch and just subsist on free samples from the market.
