Same thing, just a different perspective.
We chose to visit the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, PA on the last day of our spring break 2016 vacation. It was founded in 1824, the Franklin Institute is one of the oldest centers of science education and development in the United States. According to Wikipedia anyways.

This is a photograph from the BHAA K-Club 10KM Road Race and Fun Run 2015 was held at the K-Club Golf and Hotel Resort, Straffan, Co. Kildare, Ireland on Saturday 11th of April 2015 at 11:00. The race, an annual event, has become famous for it's very fast and flat course which starts and finishes within the grounds of the K-Club. While the weather was dry and warm there was a tough breeze in places which made running conditions a little harder than expected. The road race has gained fame through it's PB potential. However it's PB potential is overshadowed by the spread of refreshments and catering afterwards which are now legendary and are of the highest standard imaginable. Race director Gerry Byrne and a very large team of volunteers, K-Club staff, and local Gardai must be given the highest of compliments for the staging of the event. Well done everyone. One for everyone's calendar in 2016. The start and finish area were at the clubhouse on the Palmer Smurfitt Course.

Who are the BHAA? The BHAA (Business Houses Athletic Association) is a work place athletic organisation who's aim is to facilitate colleagues to run together in a series of races. They organise a series of properly managed cross country, trail and road races over the year. To learn more about membership, fixtures, etc you can visit their website bhaa.ie/. You do not need to be a member of a company or BHAA organisation to take part in any of their races.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. Dante Ross: Nah, I understand. I was really sick of Hip Hop and I decided I was going to re-invent myself and make alternative records or grown up records or rock records and I actually did it. I think it was more than the Grammy, the fact that I could actually turn my career around, make a whole different genre of music and be successful at it; that meant more to me then the Grammy. To say, “Oh shit, I re-invented myself, look how much I’m being validated for it”. I think that was the accomplishment I was most proud of, the ability to reinvent.

. In the lower part is the figure of a man (? Francis Palmes) recumbent on a mattress, . By his side is a sword. From this figure springs a tree, with roundels bearing the names and recording the various alliances of the Lyndlay family on the dexter, and of the Palmes family on the sinister side; these unite with the marriage of Brian Palmes with Isabel, daughter and co-heiress of Thomas Lyndlay. This Brian died on the 19th of October, 1528, aged 29. and was succeeded by his son Francis, who married Margaret, daughter of Roger Corbett, of Norton, in Shropshire. He died in 1568, aged 44, and was succeeded by his son Francis, the erector of this plate.
In the centre of the upper part of the plate is a shield, surmounted by helmet, crest, and mantling. The shield bears: Quarterly of Six. I. and VI. (Gu.), three fleur-de-lys a chief vair, with a crescent for difference. PALMES. II. Ermines, a lion passant (Gu.). DREW.
III. (Gu.), a bend between two dolphins embowed (arg.) . FRENCH. IV. (Arg.), on a bend (az.) three mullets of the field. WYNARD. V. (Arg.), on a chief (sa.) three griffons' heads erased of the field. LYNDLAY.
Crest : A hand holding a palm branch ppr., charged on the wrist with a crescent . . . for difference. PALMES.
Below the shield is the motto : Justus bt Palma.
At the four corners of the plate are shields, viz., (upper dexter) LYNDLAY; (upper sinister) PALMES: (lower dexter) HADNALL (Or), a maunch (sa.); (lower sinister) CORBETT - (Or), a raven ppr.
Progetto Arcevia 2.0/12
In 1972, Italo Bartoletti initiated Progetto Arcevia, a vision of an existential community which simultaneously enriched the local community of Palazzo d’Arcevia (Italy) while at the same time providing a site for creatives – artists, philosophers, architects – to come together and collaborate.
40 years later, Bartoletti’s vision has been embraced by a group of young London-based designers, Unit +. In September 2012, five members of Unit + journeyed to Riserva Privata San Settimio, the very site that Bartoletti first cultivated for Progetto Arcevia, and which is still owned by his family today. Using experiential and live mapping techniques across a range of different media (conceptual documentaries, sketches, models and a fairy tale inspired comic book), Unit + explored, documented and analysed their impressions of the site.
Through their dynamic engagement with all aspects of the Riserva, they experimented with colour-coded navigation systems, a proposal for a ‘floating’ meditation room and a towering sundial. Through the support and enthusiasm of Bartoletti’s family and the Riserva, Unit + will return in Spring 2013 to initiate these projects.
Crucial to Progetto Arcevia 2.0/12 is the fact that the fundamental ideals remain the same; Unit + are committed to operating as “a thought factory and creativity lab”, a team that values collaboration and cooperation. Their work at the Riserva in 2013 represents not only a continuation of one man’s vision, but the revitalisation of concepts that are intrinsic to collaborative design.
The surname is the same, but we are totally unrelated.
8 September 2024: we are back to hot weather, 30C. Sunny. Hopefully, people will follow the water restrictions more responsibly, as Calgarians continue to use too much water while the water main is still being repaired. They reckon there are still another two and a half weeks till repairs will be finished.
After nine days at home, including the long weekend when I knew that there would be so many people on the roads and everywhere, I finally got out the day before yesterday, 5 September 2024. My daughter had a free day, so was able to join me.
There were a couple of long roads that I had longed to drive, one of which I had never driven before, but I just kept putting it off, feeling not quite brave enough to do it by myself. So, yesterday was the day, and it turned out to be a great day. Not many birds to see anywhere, though several hawks, but a number of new-to-us old barns.
Most of the drive was on main roads, with just very few rough back roads. This was to save time, as I wasn't sure how long the total drive would take. From Calgary, we first headed S and then SW. The first road travelled was a road that I had been along several times a few years ago. However, this was with car-pooling and so I never drove. Part way along this road, the road split into two directions. I have driven the S way, but never W. Yesterday, we went W, passing through a coulee which had forest on the S side of the road and hills and rugged cliffs on the N side. I had been on a number of wonderful Christmas Bird Counts over the years, along this road. Several farms/ranches looked familiar as we had called in at various locations to chat with the owners and check what birds were being seen. How I miss those days!
The rest of the drive along this road, as far as one of the highways going S, was beautiful, with rolling hills and very scattered farms. Fortunately, the weather was good, though there was a lot of haze which made zoomed photography a real challenge, if not useless.
At one point, my daughter said she could see some very distant barns - her eyesight is so much better than mine! Turning along a rough back road, we eventually found a wonderful cluster of old barns, really the highlight of our day. Such a treat to see something new. Several curious farm horses were nearby and came to say Hi just as I was turning my car around. Further along the main road, we stopped to take a few very quick photos of a Swainson's Hawk perched on a rather ugly fence post. So happy to see a bird and actually get a photo or two.
Once we reached the main highway, we went N and quickly checked along one side road before getting on to another main highway going from W to E, A highway that I had driven before, a number of times. Stopped to capture a farmer working hard to harvest his huge field. Thank you to ALL farmers!
A barn or two later, we eventually reached the other main highway going S to N, in the area where we stopped for an old grain elevator. A few clicks and then we were on our way home, going N. A sudden thought that perhaps we could call in at the Saskatoon Farm as it was still only mid-afternoon. I was able to pick up a few beets and potatoes, lettuce and a small Patty pan squash, as my daughter was able to carry them out to the car for me, which was great.
My favourite kind of day, so I'm feeling very lucky.

Went to Loess Bluffs National Wildlife Refuge near Mound City, Mo. again for a few hours. Their count showed 775 migrating trumpeter swans scattered over the refuge, down a bit from 900 the week before. Love watching, listening and taking photos of these, some not the sharpest. Sorry for so many photos of the same thing, just saving to my album. Will post photos of other wildlife there later.

Decided to head out to my local yard on a Saturday, got there at 9:30 and I was the only one out at the freight side platform. After a half hour I noticed someone down at the other end that I thought I recognized. Messaged him, and yep, it was him. My dude PasadenaSubColin.
We were both out there to just enjoy the day, me catching freights, and him freights & Metrolinks. He's a good dude to have around, as he lets me know when something cool is on its way into the yard, and I appreciate that he's all plugged into the grid to give the "heads up" when something's coming soon.
Well, this time I had, or rather found out, the "Heads Up" about 15 mins before he let me in on what would be the joke of the day. There apparently was a bicentennial engine coming through the depot today on its way to a RR museum in Perris, CA. The 5704!!!!! Big whoop.... One dude chatted me up asking if I knew when "IT" was supposed to come through. I had no idea what he was talking about and told him I don't follow trains. :-)
15-20 mins. later Colin messages me an FYI, that there's a "Special" train about to roll through. I've been in this situation before. I'm there benching graff, and all of the sudden 20 cars pull up and a bunch of "Railfans" jump out of their cars, run over, take a few photos of the "Special" car(s), engine or train, and when it's gone, they're gone. I feel like these are the people who only get out of bed when something "cool" is rolling through town. I really doubt they care about day-to-day operations of the RR. And honestly there's no way they give a shit about the graff.
Most people out at the tracks are cool, but there's a certain group of people who seem to have zero social skills when something "Special" is coming through, and we had at least one on this day. Some dude that kept walking past us, standing in my spot, like he was going to shoot from there when I got there at 9:30, and he got there at Noon. Walking past us by inches, and not saying a word, head down... Walking in front of cameras that were filming, hanging around my backpack and gear while I was like 30 feet away, just weird, un-cool shit. I'm not down with any of this. But I don't want to burn this spot as a bencher and didn't start any trouble, even though I wanted to punch this dude.. GRRR!
Will not be posting flicks of this special train car. Sorry. I saw it, I flicked it, but the whole experience was crap, and it was just one engine, big deal. I was there for the graff that you're seeing me post.
Was hot, no clouds, and at my end of the platform I had a 2ft. x 3ft. spot of slowly moving shade that was cast by one of the platform lights. After a while Colin and I were sharing this tiny moving spot of shade. No worries, we get along just fine.
BTW: PasadenaSubColin is a FOAMER!!!!!!!! ;-p
Managed to re-flick a few cars that I caught at the beginning of the month at the other end of the valley. Anyway........ I'll be back to try and ID these pieces soon. Might take me a little longer than usual as, like I said before, new computer, new crap to deal with..

The Vosges (French pronunciation: [voʒ] or [voːʒ]; German: Vogesen [voˈɡeːzn̩]), also called the Vosges Mountains, are a range of low mountains in eastern France, near its border with Germany. Together with the Palatine Forest to the north on the German side of the border, they form a single geomorphological unit and low mountain range of around 8,000 km2 (3,100 sq mi) in area. It runs in a north-northeast direction from the Burgundian Gate (the Belfort–Ronchamp–Lure line) to the Börrstadt Basin (the Winnweiler–Börrstadt–Göllheim line), and forms the western boundary of the Upper Rhine Plain.
The Grand Ballon is the highest peak at 1,424 m (4,672 ft), followed by the Storkenkopf (1,366 m, 4,482 ft), and the Hohneck (1,364 m, 4,475 ft).
