Meteorologists predicted a wild and woolly sunset... They were wrong, it turned out to be a dud.

Across the bay from San Francisco

Shift lens view from Salesforce Park. I should have gotten a little lower, but my back was hurting.

Another shot from the bus crossing the Bay Bridge. I left in the riveted beam at the bottom as a point of reference and also for the motion blur.

No fog this morning as San Francisco awakens to the start of a heat wave. Art deco road lamps of the Golden Gate Bridge in foreground.

I don't come out this way too often. This is the view of San Francisco from across the bay at the decommissioned Naval base in Alameda. Another view of how the still under construction Salesforce tower is, well, towering over the rest of the skyline.

Thank you everyone for helping my photo make the Explore page!

On Friday I went to St Paul’s Cathedral. I don’t go too often, but enjoy it when I do. I’ve also been meaning to go ever since I got my 14mm at the start of the year, but failed to take that camera with me on this trip so will have to do that some other time.

I did take my Sony NEX-7 with me and a couple of ND filters though, so was able to mount the camera on the rail at the top with a Gorillapod and take a nice long exposure using the stacked filters.

The clouds were nice at the start of the day, but had slowed down a lot by the time I took this shot. As a result there isn’t quite as much movement as I wanted there to be, even though the exposure is around 3 minutes 45 seconds.

It was pretty crowded up there, so I appreciate all the visitors who worked their way around me while I stood there seemingly doing nothing.

This was a very clear morning for a flight from San Francisco airport. You can see many prominent city landmarks in this photo, including the Bay Bridge, the Golden Gate Bridge, Fishermans Wharf, Salesforce Tower, the Transamerican Pyramid Building, Mt. Tamalpais, the Marin Headlands, and Sausalito.

Okay, I know this is really just a building in London…and it’s not really one of the Galactic Empire’s space vessels. However, the image does remind me a bit of the opening scenes of Star Wars, so I ran with that.

So; it’s Friday at last, and I have a long day ahead before heading out to Wales this evening for a weekend of camping, hiking and photo taking. I’m hoping the weather is worse than when I was in Wales a few weeks ago (nothing but bright blue sky, as those who view my daily photos would know from my moaning), but better than it’s looking at this moment in time (it’s raining – and I’m never happy).

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Overlooking the Bay Bridge and San Francisco skyline at sunset

San Francisco skyline with low blanket of fog on San Francisco Bay.

I never liked this perspective of Cupid's Span with the buildings in the background, but the towers in the distance add some interest.
