Had a bit of an adventure while taking this lot of photos - intended on going to North Berwick, but somehow took the wrong turn without thinking and ended up going to Dunbar instead, but that was fine. Then when I was taking photos of the cement works, I heard a siren going off (sounded just like an air raid siren!) which had me a bit worried, given my close proximity to the nuclear power station! (I believe the siren was from the quarry I was right next to, but had no idea at the time and presumed from power station!). Decided at that point to move on, but then saw the horses in the field looking very serene and unconcerned by the siren, so figured I may as well stop and take photos of them anyhow :) Finished off the film roll at the harbour in Dunbar.

For my son
I will move the darkest cloud by the power of love
I will defend with my blood for the safety of my son
Joy and kindness are in my heart
I will do everything through the power of my love

Three fishing boats rest for the night carrying rolled up fishing nets, thermakol seats for the fisherman and small oars. The waters get rough during extreme rain events, but for most part of the year, this spot, a few steps down from the fish market, is fairly protected.
Safe in the Waupaca depot office. I am planning to repaint it some time. There is no lettering visible. The measuring stick gives an idea of the size. A railroad teletype machine is sitting on top.
I'm not very brave.
When I was little, I was afraid of the dark. I was bold on the streets, sassy on the playground, a terror in the woods, shimmying up trees so high and leaving the earth and my gaping friends below. But the sun goes down, the night converges and I doze with a nightlight to keep the nightmares at bay. Monsters cannot legally eat you with light around. Just a fact, you know.
I wanted to be braver. I still do. I try, but I'm just not very. A running theme throughout my childhood, and now adult life. I contented myself with my glaring flaws and ever-present nightlight.
But now you're here and that changed lots of things, everything. I feel braver next to you. Like I could run an extra mile, take an extra hit to the head by life, eat an extra slice of pie. Is that romantic enough?
We've had life-changing journeys and rough adventures, or just quiet wandering-- I like all of them. Even when there's storms, valleys, and darkness, that's okay too. Because I know I'm safe and sound next to you.
2011. Downtown Los Angeles, CA.
Ignorant of the irony and that's just the owners.
I was always fascinated by typography and the labelling on industrials tools, weapons, ordinance and other such hazardous instruments is so beautifully pragmatic, so cold and so pure. It is form and function married in implacable alliance. To look at it it is to take it for granted.
