Luckily this place has been saved..unlucky for us urbex folk..it’s undergoing full renovation now..

I’ve lived round these parts most of my life..I’ve walked past this place so many times and never realised that it was abandoned..guess I should have gone to Specsavers !

It was built by a very prominent Dover man around the beginning of the 1900’s and designed by a leading architect of that day who went onto design the Garrick Club in London. As you can see there are some heavy Art Nouveau influences in the detailing.

The views are one of the best on this part of the coast and it still amazes me why anyone would let this house fall into such a bad state of repair.

Not sure how many of you have found a full size snooker table whilst out exploring..this really blew me away..the snooker table was made by one of the UK’s leading makers, their snooker tables graced the rooms of many a fine country house!

My favourite place was the green bathroom..almost intact after all this time. Solid cast iron as well that bath..I’m not kidding !

The sun room was also stunning with its patterned glass roof and commanded amazing views over the English Channel.

This photo was taken for the 85mm Street Photography Contest "Headline". The contest rule required that the photo be taken in Dec, 2011 in black and white and a square format. This is my first photography challenge and it taught me to appreciate black and white and the square format.

This was an original safe that sat inside the larger bank vault located in Morgantown, IN.

This safe is great for small businesses. There is an internal locking drawer, an open slide out drawer, a small shelf, a letter size hanging file folder and a key storage area. There are multiple versions of this safe, this is the better one with a 2-hour fire rating (vs 1 hour standard) and is certified to protect digital media during a fire (ie: important company file backups! video tapes, cd-roms, dvds, etc...)

I guess when walking a gold trail you must find the jackpot, even if by Photoshop :-) This old safe from the company office is real but I borrowed a well known Australian hero and a bit of gold off the spot market.

Hope you have a good Sunday. It is bright and sunny here but not exactly warm.

Processed from RAW to reclaim the sky with recovery and fill to see inside the safe. Then Topaz a bit heavy handed and had to blur the sky for noise reduction. Ned Kelly can be found further back on my stream but the gold is just a Fractalius of my imagination.

I was feeling none of those things, having lost my job of ten-plus years the Tuesday of the week I took this picture.

I am thankful to have weathered those trying times.

Safed is an old and quaint town in the northern part of Israel not too far west of the Golan Heights. We were there in the middle afternoon when school was letting out. Before touring the shopping district we visited a Druze part of town where we were introduced to the religion by a Druze woman who opened her home to us and then served lunch of typical Israeli dishes.

This series of mosaics is a set composed of photos I recently took on an eleven day trip (my first) to Israel. They're not meant to be a scholarly testament to my travels but simply a documentation of my trip and a reminder of what I saw and felt. Mosaics are one of my favorite presentations for telling a story or presenting a theme. Click on each to get a large view of the individual photos, each is usually 1024 pixels wide.
