Exploring Monterey as part of the Bay Area Rediscovery Project, we discovered Loulou's Griddle in the Middle. You seriously cannot fathom how big the pancakes are--they are bigger than the plates! Nor can you understand how nice and welcoming the owners are. While you wait, you can walk along the wharf, where we saw dolphins feasting on anchovies (potentially), leading one local to state that he had never seen anything like that in the 40 years he's lived in Monterey. So that seemed special.
Rust patterns on a wharf iron panel at Port Maitland Beach that suggest two golden spectral pareidolia presences.

This is a project that includes items which have been useful in the past and likely favorite for their owners. Now they have become useless and rusty, but still fascinating, because of the memories they bring and the stories that hide beneath their rust

This is a 1x Macro of a rusted metal twisted arch used to try and train the roses.
Orange sporangia --
Air-borne spores;
Cedar-apple rust.

This orange fungus is growing on a red cedar tree, and at this time of the year the fungus releases spores from its orange sporangia (spore cases). The spores are carried by the wind. The spores that happen to land on apple trees will infect their leaves. Soon rust-colored fungal spores from the apple leaves will be released, infecting red cedar trees. That's why this is called Cedar-Apple Rust. The fungal infection alternates from red cedar trees to apple trees.

For many people, including me, this is the first day of summer, according to ancient tradition. Some cultures call this day Beltane, but I just call it May Day!!! Happy Summer!!!

While I’m not sure this spot bears an official title of junkyard, it does at least appear to be a yard of junk. Rusted metal and haphazardly placed tires, among many other things in disrepair dot the yard. Still, I’m always drawn to images like that, sooooo *snap snap*.
