Orange sporangia --
Air-borne spores;
Cedar-apple rust.

This orange fungus is growing on a red cedar tree, and at this time of the year the fungus releases spores from its orange sporangia (spore cases). The spores are carried by the wind. The spores that happen to land on apple trees will infect their leaves. Soon rust-colored fungal spores from the apple leaves will be released, infecting red cedar trees. That's why this is called Cedar-Apple Rust. The fungal infection alternates from red cedar trees to apple trees.

Happy May Day!!!
For many people, including me, this is the first day of summer, according to ancient tradition. Some cultures call this day Beltane, but I just call it May Day!!! Happy Summer!!!
A heavily rusted valve (?) on a disused jetty on the River Thames. There is a LOT of casually discarded stuff on the river, much of it in disused structures left to rot and collapse into the water. The Thames discharges into the sea so I daresay it's 'diluted' but just as there's a lot of sea, there's a lot of rust ! Probably not good for us (living things generally) at all.
Makes a nice picture, though.

I came across this section of old rusted pipe on a walk on the Dick & Willie Trail yesterday. Time and exposure to the elements have given it beautiful colors and textures.....
More of the old roadside barn? Here's another of the shakiest barn in the valley. I shot this on my return. The rust is trying to catch up with failing lumber. Which goes first? I have found these oldies disappearing at a shocking rate, destroyed by the advent of the valley's gravel pits, prairie castles and paving. A Global Warming special. I'm playing catch up with eDDie tk, the very Flickerite who named me MikeE. There is plenty going downhill around here north of the road from LoCo to BoCo. No hay in the barn but it holds a load of old barnage, falling roof parts and derelict fencing. Little in the way of transparent fenestration is left. It could use some windows and new roofing, this barn is barely vertical in it's status. It's days are numbered and as always, stand back! The roof is giving 'er up.
It always seemed farmers, skilled carpenters all, were plentiful around here. Here is a load of glancing sun enhancing the lumber's character and texture in the roadside view. Maybe traffic vibration is shaking it apart.
The valley is loaded with pastures and budding prairie castles. The castles show the immediate need for radical tax burden changesback to pre-Ronnie666 1950's levels. The poor can use this for Trumpandemic housing in the meantime, especially for Oklahomans who sign tomorrow's pledge. It looks like any lumber and iron is slowly turning to dust and rust.
I found a seasonably decent day while awaiting springtime in the Rockies in early summer while skies were building over the Rockies west of Longmont and south of Hygiene. Boy, the Rockies were well snow loaded early. Plenty of snow in the ski trail on Meeker but right now, the San Juans are at 2% residual snow pack. I tried again for more shots here on a recent sky and foliage day. In the meantime, I will upload another edited barn shot. There are many things everywhere along my paths on display in the Rockies but I really love old, heavily textured lumber, 'er wood.
This photo was taken in the north of Vienna, near the boarder to Lower Austria. During my research for abandoned buildings in a small forest I suddenly found this wreck. It seems to be a moped, which looks a bit like the legendary Vespa.
I think it looks very interesting and will post more pictures from my adventure in this cool looking area in the future.
