Jim (active metabolite) suggested I explore this rusted out car ... thanks!
I heard a bit more of the story from a fellow dog walker. Apparently it was a stolen car, dumped about six months ago in the bush. The council moved it to where it is now (still in the bush, but near a track it could be towed away from). About a week later, it was torched. It's still not been taken away. To me, it's become a bit of a feature on this particular walk, and I'd miss it!
WIT: I had great plans to photograph some Formula 1 cars, but I really liked the texture and shadows created by this wheel. I also liked the color of the rust. This has been sitting next to our house for years and I never really noticed it.
A study in the beauty of decay. These photos of rust were taken on a day I learned that a family member had been diagnosed with cancer. I'm sure I departed from my usual practice of photographing beautiful landscapes in an effort to remind myself that you can find beauty even in decay if you look deeply enough. The subject is rusted corrugated aluminum sheets.
Leaf rust hit Colombia hard in 2010, long before the current situation in Central America. Though they have come a long way in overcoming this obstacle, many producers continue to have plants that look like this for large swaths on their farms. Leaf rust in Colombia is largely responsible for renovation with disease-resistant varieties like variety Colombia and Catimor.
Here we see some chemical weathering on the copper pipes in my basement. The moisture that tends to accumulate at the joints of the pipes mixes with the copper and forms copper oxide, which is typically a blue/green in color.
Seems an lot of it on our Alexanders this spring. A lot more than usual, the Romans found not be eating it for their veggies in this condition!

This rusty former houseboat has lain in a backwater of the River Ouse at Newhaven, East Sussex for many years. A start was made on scrapping her a few years back but this ground to a halt and the remains have lain here ever since. Here she is seen on June 11th 2020.
2006 December 27 - Rust along the left back corner of the Nissan Sentra's trunk hood. Water would seep in and drip into the trunk, yuck. No "before" pic available. I tried aluminum tape but it curled and water stayed underneath it. Then I tried spray painting the rusted areas with Rust-o-leum Hammered bronze paint. Works great so far! If it starts leaking again, I'll try caulking around the rubber seal edge.
This picture was taken at the bottom of the stairs at my apartment complex. I am about to turn my bike and take it up the stairs. As you can see from the water spatters on my boots, it has been raining. I think I was in a bit of a hurry to get home when I stopped and decided to take this shot instead. I'm glad I took the time to slow down. I like the colors here and the contrast between the natural (rust) and the mechanical (bike) and the human (me).
