Contamination affects all our oceans and other bodies of water. An example is the rust colored tint left in a strait.

One final call, and then left behind after years of service....

Sometimes it is not so easy to see past rust. But the mystery here prevails. What is before us is sometimes superficial.

This is a small part of an exhibit at Birmingham Museum.

The artwork was done by Donald Rodney (1961- 1998) and titled as "Land of Milk and Honey II" Rodney was born in Birmingham. He used objects in his work to explore aspects of the human experience. His father migrated to Smethwick from the Carribean in the mid 20th century, in search of a better life in the "Land of Milk and Honey" The Vitrine contains coins and milk. They represent the 'sourced' reality many migrants actually experienced. The material he used will deteriorate and change over time.

In 1867 the United States Pipe and Foundry Company was established. Located in in Chattanooga Tennessee this place is a reminder of the significance of the iron industry here in the United States. Now an abandon site, this building is just amazing to see fist hand. I tried to get a few drone shots inside but the GPS kept going out. Not sure if it was the site it self or if they had a signal jammer nearby.

Found in a junkyard, most of the body was gone. I was fascinated by the rust and strange textures that come with age and neglect. (Yes, I’m talking about the car!) It reminded me of a map, drawn over many years…

Another hard job for my little tiny helpers. Someone came up with the idea to repair and unlock those old rusty nuts and bolts. Not even thinking about how tough this gets for my little workers. But once more...they give their best on it :)

Crazy Tuesday.

I still have a few images from my trip to Lake Tyrell in November 2021.

I did post one of this old grader that sits several kilometers out from the shore of Lake Tyrell. It has been stranded there for almost 30 years, slowly rustling away.

"Rust Never Sleeps" is of course the title from Neil Young's Classic album Some consider the term to be a metaphor for artistic vitality. E.g. by staying the same, one is vulnerable to the corrosive effects of aging and obsolescence.

That works for me.

Believe it or not I do have a rust pot of rusted items especially for challenges like this! I used the oxidised under side of the glass jar in the background to create the orange hue.

The theme for Macro Mondays, Monday March 22 is Rust ...

Lightship 'North Carr' moored in City Quay, Dundee, Scotland. It was saved from being scrapped by the charity Tay Maritime Action (Taymara) in 2010, having been purchased for £1, but funds have yet to be raised for a full restoration.

I went for a walk and found this fire bowl in a beer garden.

I was fascinated how beautiful rust could be.

Enjoy and have a wonderful week !
