Viewing large on black shows all the grungy details. ;)
This is an old Plymouth that sits in a driveway in my neighborhood. I love the colors of the rust against the fading body paint. Throw a little chrome in there and it's photographic eye candy. ;)

PROCESSING NOTES:
for each individual image I ...
- duplicated the Background Layer, changed to LAB Mode, ran a high-pass filter, changed back to RGB Mode, and switched the blend mode of that layer to Soft Light
- duplicated the new layer to double the effect
- made another duplicate of the Background Layer, dragged it to the top, ran high-pass filter, changed blend mode of that layer to Soft Light (to bring out details even more)
- made a stamp of all layers, added a b&w adjustment layer, manually adjusted it for a high-contrast look, switched that stamped layer to Soft Light blend mode, then tweaked the b&w adjustment layer until I achieved the desired look
- added a texture layer to the top and changed it's blend mode to Soft Light
After putting them all into the collage then individual adjustments were made (curves, hue, levels, masks where needed, etc.) to get them all to flow well.
I have found my personal rust paradise, only about 45 min from me. acres of old cars and trucks untouched for decades. It was a scrap yard years ago, but even the wrecks are awesome. I was overwhelmed walking the place, it would take a solid month just to see it all. much less Photograph. so...anytime I want to shoot old cars. I got that covered.
A farm dump provides some interesting effects! A rusted something-or-other retains patches of bluish paint and is overlain by criss-cross shadows from an abandoned piece of mesh fencing.
#Macro #MacroMondays #Rust
The cable stop on my 1996 Lemond Zurich rod bike. This bike is made from Reynolds 853 tubing. Though over 20 years old and with spots of rust this bike is still in use today and my primary road bike. Such a beautiful bike…and one that I will never part with. Here's to another 20 years.
a rusted water thing? in the middle of the park. The beautiful park used to be a golf course. so glad that they decided to preserve the land and keep it a wide open space. (10/365)

Second floor brewery equipment scene. Abandoned since December 2001.
This photo were taken back in March 2012. I am just catching up with them. I had started to put up our trip to Northland but for some reason never got them all up.
Matakana is a small town in the Rodney Ward of Auckland Council of New Zealand. The Matakana River flows through the town and into Kawau Bay to the south-east.
Matakana's first public building, the Presbyterian School and church, opened in 1864. By 1881, Matakana had about 150 people and most of the bush had been cut. Agriculture replaced it, especially fruit. Matakana Dairy Factory opened in December 1902; the building is now a shop.

Interesting pattern and texture on this metal plate - part of some type of drilling equipment. My granddaddy and some of my uncles owned a water well drilling business and also worked in oil fields many years ago. Just a random item I found on a visit to the family ranch back in September 2020.
